It was almost dark when the four men arrived back at the barn to check-in the surrey. Furgus, grumpy as usual, checked them in, complaining that he’d had to stay late on their account. However, as they walked away two more vehicles arrived to be checked in.
They made their way toward the dorms. Neil had decided not to move his things to Rolf’s until the next day. When they came to Rolf’s lane they stopped to say goodnight. The four men gave each other hugs, each saying something about how good the evening had been and how well everything seemed to be going.
Neil held Jordan just a bit longer. Holding his old friend close, he whispered, “Thank you for understanding and being such a good sport about how things are working out,”
