My Dragon Alpha Mate

That was 6 Months ago now that we buried my father, 6 damn months and still no leads on who or what has killed my father. Exasperated I slowly got up from my bed and walked into my bathroom for a quick shower before heading down stairs for breakfast. Once down stairs I see my mum at the kitchen table stirring her coffee slowly and staring out the window, she has been like this since that dreadful night, barely eats sleeps or speaks to any one, I will get the odd good morning and how are you questions but other than that not a whole lot else. Who can blame her though she lost the love of her life, her mate, she is now a broken version of the once vibrant woman my mother was. Moving into the kitchen preparing my own breakfast, I send a small smile and a good morning to my mother, she sends a small smile back with a nod. I finish making my breakfast and sit down opposite her and start eating, I look up from my plate into my mother's now dull emerald green eyes and a sad smile graces my lips as I think about how they used to shine brightly with love hope and life, making a silent vow to myself to restore that light that once shone in them. After breakfast I make my way to the main pack house where our alpha and his family resides in hopes that he of all people got an update after sending his best team to continue the investigation on my father's death and to bring whoever murdered him to justice. My dad was the alphas second in command so this to has made a big impact on not only his family but our whole pack aswell. we were and still are devastated by the huge loss our pack has suffered. My dad is or rather was A beta wolf, but my mother is a dragon shifter, fated mates which resulted in me, I can shift into both a wolf and a dragon, my father was a huge dark grey wolf with piercing blue eyes that stood over 8 ft tall from the ground and my mother is a magenta red dragon with green eyes. Her dragon is stunning and very large around 30 ft from snout to tail with a large wing span of over 50 ft and easily weighing over 12000 pounds, not that I'd ever say that too her. I'm suddenly brought out of my thoughts when I run into a solid chest, quickly apologising I look up and see one of my best friends Ben standing there smirking at me knowing I wasn't paying attention to where I was going being lost in my own mind. "Sorry Ben" I quickly say as my cheeks start turning a light shade of pink, he has always been an attractive wolf, his the gammas son training to take over the gammas position when the alphas son takes over from our Alpha in a few months. Ben is 6 ft 3 Black hair with stunning grey eyes and a body to die for. He looks into my eyes and says "Kate don't be sorry you know I like running into you like this" he laughs "it's not the first time and I'm surely hoping it won't be the last" he winks at me making me swoon a little just from the sheer sight of him, his every girls dream guy, who wouldn't swoon. Ben and I grew up together and have been best friends since we were little, in high school I was hoping he would be my mate but fate wasn't on our side when my 18th birthday came and we found out we weren't fated mates. But I knew that who ever ended up with him was going to be one lucky B***h! "Ben, I am going to see the Alpha to find out if his team has got any new information that might lead us to find my dads killer" I say. " Would you like to come with me?" I ask. " Yes of course I will come with you Babe, that's not even a question" he says with a determined look in his eye.
