Chapter 1- The Meeting
The smell of the ocean hit his nose as they boarded the boat. Mason hated the ocean, but he was in Greece to close a deal so he had to suck it up. The men where all dressed in expensive suits and had high quality watches on. As soon as everyone was on the boat they started the motor and began to drift into the open sea. The men around Mason began to pour themselves expensive scotch to prepare for the long discussion ahead. “Let’s begin my old friend,” said one of the men who looked to be at least 65 years of age. Mason smirked as he cracked open his briefcase to grab the presentation. “I think you will be very pleased by this opportunity I am bringing to your table.” [Lucile] The water wrapped around her like cloth as she floated through the sea. Lucile was just a young mermaid among the pod. Being only 18 years of age she was become a beautiful merwoman. Her hair was a warm auburn color that pasted her waist and half way down her fin. The green and blue scales glistened in the sunlight that trickled through the surface of the water. Lucile suddenly stopped as she heard a load rumble above her. This was normal since the Mediterranean Sea was a popular destination for humans to visit. Something about this boat was different though. Curiosity took over as it had many times before and she began to swim up. “Lucy get back here this instant,” roared her father’s voice through the sea. Her head snapped back as she pouted with her arms crossed. “Why do you always mess up my fun father. I just want to know what they are like,” she said as a plea to allow her just this once to take a peak. All she had ever wanted was to see a human. Lucile knew it was dangerous and that it could kill her kind, but she just wanted to learn. “I have had it with this constant curiosity towards humans. All they do is bring death with them and we can’t bare to lose anymore pod members,” her father stated with a stern voice. Lucile knew he was trying his best, but was tired of being on a short leash. Just because her father was the leader of the pod everyone treated her like a child. Sebastian, her father, motioned for her to continue moving and they both joined back up with the pod. When the pod arrived to their home they began to prepare for the evening. Lucile’s job was to do nothing as always. She watched as the merwomen began to cook their evening meal. Tonight was eel tail with seaweed again Lucile loathed the meal she ate the majority of the week. She turned around to gaze towards the exit of the cave they called home. This was the only place she was allowed to be out of the water. Lucile swam up to the top of the cave so she could sit on the edge of a small ledge at the top. Just enough room for a mermaid to sit out of the water. It was a peace of difference in her everyday life, but it wasn’t enough. As she sat their staring at the cave ceiling she made up her mind. “I am sneaking up to the surface tonight,” she whispered as she slowly descended the rest of the pod for dinner. [Mason] His smile widened as the elderly man shook his hand as they stepped off the boat. It was a successful, but yet stressful business meeting. Mason definitely felt a bit sea sick and was ready to get back to his hotel. He waved goodbye to the men as he stepped into limo that pulled up. “Phew that was ridiculous,” Mason said after the door was closed. “You would think a man of that power would do business in a broad room. Jasper please go to the hotel now,” he said to the driver as he stared out the window. “Finally some time to myself,” Mason said as he plopped onto his bed. He was tired, but felt as if a late night walk would do him some good. He changed out of his suit and into some shorts with a t-shirt. He then turned to the mirror in the room and stared at himself. His broad shoulders, big blue eyes, and waved locks of dark black hair. He was definitively a lot of women’s dream man. Shaking off all feelings of dread he grabbed his keys and walked out of the room. [Lucile] Everyone was asleep so this was the perfect time for Lucile to sneak out of the caves. She slowly slinked out of the sleeping quarters then darted out of the cave. She immediately felt a jolt of freedom as she left her home and defying her father’s wishes. What would really happen though, it’s night time and no human would be awake. Lucile followed the current leading up to the beach. She decided to pop her head up before getting to close to the shore. Her eyes widened as she saw the lights of the buildings, ships, boats, and business on land. It definitely wasn’t anything like her home or anything she had every seen in her family’s travels. Instantly she began to want to know more about this mystery land. Diving back down she increased speed through the water to meet the beach quicker. Lucile was sure she hadn’t seen anyone there and figured she was safe to come a shore. The sand began to rise as she got closer until it began hard to swim. The waves drifted her closer till her fin was half way in the water. Lucile smiled as she touched the dry sand in front of her feeling the different textures it brought to her senses. As soon as she began her journey though she met a hurdle. A man was walking in her direction and she had no idea how to push herself back into the water. Lucile had to figure something out. She pulled herself up more onto the beach, but as soon as she was fully out of the water she didn’t feel her fin anymore. She turned to see that she had human legs. “What the f*^*k,” she screamed!! [Marcus] Marcus walked the beach in the light of the full moon when he heard a woman’s scream. He looked around until he spotted a young girl laying on the beach. The man began to sprint towards her to make sure she was ok. When he got to the girl he was in shock. She didn’t have a single scratch on her, but she definitely seemed shaken up. The strangest thing though was she had no clothing on. “Are you ok ma’am. Why are you out here with nothing on?” He questioned the girl. She seemed startled that I was even in front of her. The girl just seemed to stare at him without even hearing him. “What is your name? Is there a way I can help you?” He said again to try and get her attention. “Lucile. My name is Lucile,” she said with a soft and low voice. It was like a goddess was on the ground in front of me. Her body was flawless and her hair was magnificently long. She seemed to have a supernatural beauty to her. “It is very nice to meet you Lucile. My name is Mason,” he said smiling as he offered his hand.
