It Cannot Be

Sarah opened the door and smiled. “Come in Margaret.” Sarah said and then closed the door once Margaret was inside of the office. “What did you need me for alpha Collin?” Margaret asked curious as to what he needed her there for. “We are trying to figure out what the reason is for Dr. Trey to commit Taylor when she was no threat. There has to be a reason he committed her under false reasons.” Collin explained to Margaret. “Okay, what reasons have you come up with so far?” Margaret asked Collin and Sarah. “I am wondering if this is about money?” Sarah shared her opinion as to why. Collin shook his head, “I am sure that might be a slight possible reason, but I do not feel that is the main reason.” Margaret thought about everything that involved Taylor. She then gasped and said, “I think it’s about the places in her dreams. It is the only thing that would make sense.” Sarah and Collin looked at Margaret confused. “I’m not sure I understand. What are these places in her dreams?” Sarah asked really confused. “You never asked her about her night terrors?” Margaret asked with a raised eyebrow.

Sarah then said, “I asked her when she was young. It scared me and I never asked again.” Margaret nodded, “she has certain dreams and she cycles through them. Sometimes there is a new dream added and that is put into the rotation of what night she dreams what. Would it be possible that these are real places?” Margaret asked feeling like she was on to something. Collin then asked Margaret, “can you describe one place for me that is in her dreams?” Margaret nodded and said, “yes, I can’t even forget it if I wanted to.” Collin nodded and said, “let’s go to the library and see if we can’t figure this out.” Sarah and Margaret followed Collin to the library and shut and locked the door. “Okay Margaret, please describe the place for me.” Collin said as he stood by a bookshelf. “Taylor said the place was a hot and dark prison. There was monsters that were tall, big, greasy looking from the sweat, no hair, and didn’t really have a face. She said there was a girl there named Janet. She was a murder and there was a man there who was a serial killer, but he disguised himself as a super hero and everyone pretty much fell for it. The walls were concrete and grey. There wasn’t much light there either. She did say that there was another girl who stumbled into the prison on accident as well. She could not leave with Taylor or she would turn to dust if she crossed the threshold of the building.”

Collin looked at the books and then pulled a few out. Sarah looked at Margaret horrified. Collin sat down and opened one book that he thought might have some answers. He flipped through the pages and saw a picture that looked to be what Margaret had described to him. “Good goddess! This is a very real place. It is an evil place. It is the prison of the d*mned souls.” Collin began to read. Sarah stared off and said, “Tartarus.” Margaret gasped, “wait, but isn’t that just a myth?” Collin shook his head no and said, “it is very real. Those who went to search for it have never returned. I guess all except for Taylor. I am not sure how she is able to dream about a place she has never been.” Sarah shook her head, “no, it has to be a mistake. How is this even possible?” Sarah was more afraid for her daughter than upset about her being able to access a prison of the d*mned. Although, Sarah still was puzzled how Taylor was able to access it. Collin continued to read the book. Margaret was confused then she asked, “wait, isn’t Tartarus in the depths of the underworld? The way Taylor described it, it was on Earth’s surface.” Collin then became confused.

“I suppose we will find out more when we get Taylor out of that place. Why would Dr. Trey want to go to that prison? What is there that he is wanting so badly?” Sarah asked not really sure what to think. “That is the question of the day. I think we need to go find a demon and perhaps they can help us with all of this. I am not sure there are any werewolves who would know much about this.” Collin suggested as he closed the book. “Where would we find a demon?” Margaret asked not knowing there was any place on Earth that a demon would be. Sarah sighed and said, “the black market is where we would find some demons. When they are on Earth, they look like humans.” Margaret then said, “so that they do not scare humans. The supernatural world is protected by secrecy and disguises.” Collin and Sarah both nodded. “I am going to go with you when you go speak to a demon. I’m not asking. You are my alpha and luna, but I am Taylor’s best friend first and foremost.” Margaret said earning a smirk from Sarah. “Don’t worry Margaret, we already planned on you going.” Sarah said with a smile.

“We will go tomorrow night and see if we can find a demon who will talk to us.” Collin said to Sarah and Margaret. Collin looked at Margaret and said, “you will stay next to us and not say anything except when we need you to describe Taylor’s dream.” Margaret nodded to Collin but they all knew deep down that Margaret was going to speak regardless of when it was or wasn’t time. “Margaret, you can go home or sleep in Taylor’s room tonight. I will mind link your parents if you are staying here.” Sarah said as she picked up a book. “I’d like to stay here. I’ll go home in the morning and get clothes. How long will we be gone?” Margaret asked, unsure how she should pack. Collin and Sarah looked at each other and said, “at least a week. You’ll be behind on your studies.” Margaret shook her head. “I will bring my laptop and do my studies that way. I can hand in assignments that way as well.” Sarah smiled and nodded. “Off to bed you go Margaret. I’m going to let your parents know.” Sarah said to Margaret. Margaret left the library and headed up to Taylor’s room. Sarah looked at Collin with worry written all over her face. Collin walked over and wrapped Sarah into his arms. “We will find a way to get her out of there.” Collin said trying to reassure Sarah. “Let’s go to bed. We can continue our research tomorrow. We both need sleep.” Sarah said to Collin knowing they both would not sleep much.

Taylor laid on the bed in her room and stared at the ceiling. She closed her eyes and tried to mind link Margaret. She slammed her arms down on the mattress in frustration when she could not mind link. “This is such bullsh*t. How did Dr. Trey even manage to build such a place?” Taylor rolled over and decided then that she would do everything she could to not give Dr. Trey the location of the prison in her dreams. Taylor finally drifted off to sleep and slept without dreaming for the first time. It was not clear if it was from the building or just her pure exhaustion. Margaret laid in Taylor’s bed and tried to mind link her. She missed her best friend so badly. She can’t remember a time that they had gone this long without seeing each other. Margaret became a little more upset when she could not reach her friend through mind link. Margaret rolled over and finally fell asleep still worried about Taylor. Sarah and Collin laid in bed waiting for sleep to take over. “I should have done something sooner and shown Taylor that I love her. Instead, I hardened my heart to her. What kind of a father and alpha am I?” Collin asked staring at the ceiling.

Sarah looked over at her mate and saw how torn he was over how he had acted towards their daughter. “We can not change the past, but you took a step in the right direction and allowed yourself to finally be the father she deserves and needed. All we can do is learn from our past mistakes and not make them again. Now is not the time to beat yourself up over how you acted. You stepped up and began doing the right thing. Just continue doing the right thing dear. She will come around and forgive you. We can not give up on our girl.” Sarah said to Collin as she reached over and put her hand in his. Collin smiled and looked over at his beautiful mate. “You always know what to say. I was a bit surprised when you yelled at me and ripped into me at the school. However, I deserved it plus more. I was such an as*hole. I hope you can forgive me as well.” Collin said to Sarah. They both finally fell asleep thinking about their daughter.

Patty watched over Taylor making sure no one went into her room. Patty had decided that she would watch over Taylor as much as possible so that no one harmed her. The tricky part would be trying to protect Taylor from Dr. Trey. Patty left a note for Taylor to read before her shift was over. After Patties shift ended, she left and headed home. Patty was very worried about Taylor. She walked into her apartment and decided to shower then go get something to eat. She was too tired to cook anything. Breakfast sounded really good to her for some reason. Taylor woke up and saw Patty leave her a note. She waited until Patty left and then she got up to read the note. “Taylor, I am going to speak to your parents. If you are wanting me to tell them anything from now on, please let me know and I will tell them. It is the best that I can offer right now.” Taylor sighed in relief and then ate the paper so that there was no evidence of it.
