Birthday Party (cont.)

Everyone sat around laughing and joking with one another. The cake was all gone and only a little ice cream was left. Taylor did not care, she ate 3 pieces of the cake and wasn’t a bit sorry about it. Chloe laid on the grass in the sun. Her belly was full from having a cat friendly ice cream cup. Zag asked Taylor if they could go talk privately for a moment. Taylor looked at him and smiled. “We will be back in a few minutes.” Taylor said as her and Zag stood up from the picnic table. They walked around the courtyard together. “You need to make sure that Patty or Mrs. Patter can bring you outside tonight to have your first shift.” Zag said to Taylor. He did not want anything delaying her shifting for the first time. Taylor nodded and said, “that is already planned. So how did you get up here and to me?” Zag chuckled and said, “well, I used my front door pass so to speak. I do not need permission to leave and enter. You do need to control your darkness. Now that you are 18 I can properly explain it all. However, it is safer for me to do so in your dreams. That way, we are not being watched by the creepy Dr. Trey.” Taylor nodded in understanding. “I don’t want anyone to ease drop either. I can’t fully mate with you until I am out of here.”Taylor said to Zag. “I am not worried about that right now. I want use to get to know each other and not rush. This situation is not exactly ideal for mating right now.” Zag said to Taylor earning a giggle.

“How about tonight then?” Taylor asked Zag. “I already planned on it. Let’s go return to your party shall we.” Zag said as he offered his arm to Taylor. Taylor smiled and put her hand and arm around his arm. “I’m so glad you are my mate. I actually had hoped you were.” Taylor admitted with a blush on her face. Zag smiled and said, “I am so glad to hear that.” Taylor laughed with her family and friends. She had enjoyed the party so much that she had honestly forgotten she was still imprisoned in the mental facility. They spent what felt like hours catching up and laughing together. Collin stood up and said, “I will be right back.” Sarah nodded to him and turned back to Taylor. “Where is he going?” Taylor asked not wanting him to leave. “He is going to go use the bathroom real quick. He will be back.” Sarah said not worried about Collin excusing himself, which put Taylor at ease. Zag moved his hand over to Taylor’s lap and gently grabbed her hand. She lightly squeezed his hand and continued on her conversation. “Wait, so Margaret, your brother really jumped off the cliff and screamed like a little girl?” Taylor asked laughing. Margaret giggled and said, “yes, he was determined to hang with the older boys and well, you know the rest.” Taylor laughed so hard. “I hope you got video of that or at the very least a picture.” Taylor said as she snorted as she laughed harder.

Margaret laughed and said, “well, I wish I had been recording right now to catch you snorting while you laugh.” Taylor acted fake hurt and said, “isn’t that what best friends are for?” Margaret and Sarah began laughing. Taylor was laughing so hard that she didn’t notice her dad coming back. Sarah waited for Taylor to calm down and see her dad coming back. Collin made it all the way to the table before Taylor noticed he was back. Collin set down a very big package next to her. Taylor stopped laughing and her eyes widened seeing the big present. “What, what is this?” Taylor asked staring at the present. Collin laughed and said, “it’s your last gift. We were saving the best for last.” Taylor had a sparkle of happiness shining in her eyes as she looked at her mom then back to her dad. “Go ahead and open it sweetie.” Sarah said with a smile. Taylor smiled ear to ear and she went to open it. “Lift the top off of the present.” Collin said with a smile. Taylor lifted it off and she instantly found it hard to not shed tears. “Oh goddess! Wait, how am I suppose to use these?” Taylor asked looking at her gifts. Taylor picked up the graduation cap and gown and smiled. There were other items that went along with the graduation theme.

Sarah and Collin both smiled at each other, then looked at Taylor. “We know that you took the test and tested out of school. So, we arranged it so that you can wear your cap and gown and be officially handed your diploma.” Sarah explained to Taylor. Taylor couldn’t hold back her tears. “You mean…you mean I get to graduate kinda like everyone else?” Taylor asked in disbelief. Sarah stood up and nodded. “Yes, we arranged it for you. Now hurry up and put your cap and gown on.” Sarah said with a giggle. Taylor hurriedly put her gown and then cap on. Collin walked over and put the tassel on the left side. “There, now you are ready.” Collin said with a smile. “Miss Taylor Lyndal, please come up.” Taylor looked to see Mr. Bishop standing over by the entrance of the courtyard. Taylor stopped and saw another cap and gown. She looked at Margaret and then back to the cap and gown. Margaret smiled and picked her cap and gown up. Margaret put hers on and soon Mr. Bishop called Margaret up as well. Taylor and Margaret locked arms and walked to Mr. Bishop. Mr. Bishop smiled at both girls and handed them their diplomas. “You girls have made all of us proud. I know you both will go far in this life. Taylor, I know things are difficult right now, but soon it’ll get better. Congratulations to the both of you.” Mr. Bishop said as he took both their tassels and moved them to the other side. Taylor and Margaret both hugged Mr. Bishop then hugged each other.

Mr. Bishop smiled and said, “I am afraid my time is up. I am so proud of you both.” He turned around to walk away but then said, “oh and you both need to stay out of trouble.” Taylor looked at Margaret and they both started laughing. “We will do our best to stay out of trouble.” Taylor said with a smirk. Mr. Bishop laughed and said his goodbyes. Taylor and Margaret walked back to the picnic table with their arms locked together. “This is the best day and birthday ever!” Taylor said going around hugging everyone. Zag put his arms around Taylor and she leaned against his chest. “Congratulations Taylor. We are all getting ready to be kicked out.” Zag said looking over at the door. Sarah had a shocked look on her face. “She was suppose to come home with us. That was suppose to be the other surprise.” Sarah said with tears in her eyes. Collin held Sarah close as Zag held Taylor. Dr. Trey walked up and said, “it is time for Taylor to come back inside and for you all to leave.” Patty and Mrs. Patter looked confused and angry. “Dr. Trey, she was suppose to go home today.” Patty said to Dr. Trey. Dr. Trey snapped his head over to Patty and said, “If I were you, I would watch my mouth before you are out of a job.” Patty stood in silence, completely floored by Dr. Trey’s words.

Collin stepped in front of Taylor. “We already agreed she would come home. We signed papers stating she would be coming home today.” Collin said furiously. Dr. Trey looked at Collin and then said, “I don’t care what you think you signed. She is not leaving here until I get the answers I want.” Zag disappeared and reappeared in front of Dr. Trey. “What answers are those Dr. Trey?” Zag asked as Sarah secretly began recording the conversation. “Taylor knows what answers I want. I do not need to explain myself to you.” Zag became angry and Dr. Trey began to lift off of the ground. His eyes widened in shock. “It is my business as she is my mate. You and that Mr. Robert will no longer try to put your greasy fingers on her.” Zag said as his eyes turned red and his wings appeared. Sarah looked frightened. “What do you mean putting their hands on her?” Sarah asked, not knowing what he was talking about. “One of the security guards went into Taylor’s room and tried to assault her. Isn’t that right Dr. Trey?” Dr. Trey started to struggle and said said, “I punished him and changed the locks on her door so that only 4 of us could enter her room. I’m letting her keep her damn cat. If anything happens to me, then the law will hunt you down. I have cameras all around.” Zag smirked and snapped his fingers, causing each camera to explode.

Dr. Trey gasped for air. Taylor walked over to Zag and placed her hand on his arm. Zag began calming down and let Dr. Trey go. “Taylor, you get to your room now. Your parents and friends are leaving now.” Taylor looked at Zag as her eyes turned red. “No Taylor, not here.” Zag said but Taylor lifted her arm and lifted Dr. Trey off the ground. Taylor continued to stare at Zag. Sarah gasped as Taylor’s hair turned an ice blue ombre with blue flames around her hair. Her skin started to turn a light pale white with a blue tint. Collin gasped as he saw some carvings of symbols begin to appear on her arms. Margaret walked up beside Zag and looked at Taylor. “Do you want me to grab a shovel?” Margaret asked with a sinister smirk on her face. Taylor smirked and then dropped Dr. Trey as she felt her bones begin to break.
