Alpha, beta & omega

Chapter two

A few seasons had passed, our pack settled into the new norm that is the present. Malachite had ignited a passion for pack betterment in me that I didn't know was there, if it was there at all. I've forgotten where I begin and where she ends, our souls had finished merging at some point without our realizing. It is no longer her and I, it is us/we. The elders said at some point there will no longer be two voices in our head and instead one entirely new one once we find our mate that is.

I don't shift often due to the fact that I was forced to shift before my time and it is extremely painful for the both of us. Malachite is content to stay put for now. 

The sunroom had slowly become my new office as I preferred to spend most of my time in there. I didn't dare change anything and only added to it my own personal touches. I had told the female omegas, that do all the housework, not to enter and that I would handle the cleaning of my own office. I had found that all the women around me that weren't yet mated had put me an arms length away once I became Luna. It hurt as I felt isolated but I understood that jealousy and fear comes with the power of being Alpha.

I've only had to deal with a few wolves that didn't want to fall into the pack. One had even thought that he could force me to become his mate, he had followed me around a coming of age party for a few members of the pack. I had sensed his intentions immediately and Malachite watched my back, I had purposely led him to an isolated area of the gardens so that no one else would get hurt. 

My body relaxed as I let Malachite take over my human form, I felt a cold shiver travel through my body as she took control. Our body was loose and she had taken a defensive stance but it came off as though she were only trying to pick a flower. She took a deep breath to determine how far away from us he was, only a few feet and quickly closing in. Our eyes close and she swoops to the ground and grabs ahold of two very distinct balls and squeezes. He grabs hold of our hair but she's unfazed and uses her leverage to twist out of his hold. He lets out a howl which I'm sure a few people heard from the party. 

There was one thing about Malachite that I hadn't told the others. She was ruthless and believes in power above all else, I disagree with her but tonight I will make an exception. I give her a mental nod to let her know that she has my blessings to dispose of this disturbed beast. 

Lutz had always been a douchebag and everyone despised him for it. Now he fancies himself an Alpha one strong enough to over take me at that. Malachite laughs as he lunges at us, digging her claws into his back as she throws him a few feet. He rolls into some pottery that I had just made with some pups and Malachite goes into a rage. Lutz is still making grabs at my neck which she uses to he advantage. She pulls his arm from his socket and grabs the back of his neck, people have gathered but its gone too far. Malachite grabs hold and pulls his head till it rips off, she drops it and lets out a menacing howl. Others feel her power and join in with their Alpha. 

Leo ran over and pushed me off of Lutz's body. I had forgotten that they were close friends. Malachite surrenders our body to me, leaving me to clean up the aftermath.

Before I could say anything Leo picks up Lutz and runs off.

I had forgotten that Lutz was one of Leo's closest friends and I feel as though the ground under me had given way. Malachite is all too happy as I realize I might've just lost my best friend. She despised our close relationship as she deemed him too weak, whenever we turned her wolf would lash out at him if he got too close. Leo had asked me if she hated him to which I would lie and say no and change topics.

Some pack members try to help clean me off but I brush them away and make my way back to the party. I give my apologies and let my second in command Archie take over for the night, he's more than happy to act as Alpha in my stead.

The house is empty as I make my way to the sunroom, the pain of the fight was starting to become unbearably obvious. I grab a few things from a first aid kit in the bathroom and sit down on the floor. I tense my body as I begin to pour the antiseptic on the open wounds Lutz left on my arm and neck. I fight back the urge to scream as I know this pain was only temporary I'd be healed almost completely by morning. 

I don't even get to finish my patch job when Elder Cane and the house's doctor William enter. Doctor William gives me a look as he looks at my sad attempt at a diy bandage job. "You pass by my office to get to the sun room you know?" His eyes are a warm honey and twinkle as he looks at me, I blush but turn my face to hide it. 

"What happened?" Elder Cane's voice was stern but also full of concern.

"I was attacked by Lutz he was trying to mark me", I try to stop my voice from wavering as Doctor William cleans the wounds deepest areas. "He wouldn't stop so I had no choice." That last part was a lie, I could have easily subdued him and by the look on Elder Cane's face he knew it.

I had a feeling what Malachite did was on purpose but I wasn't ready to admit it just yet. As though just thinking about it Leo appears in the door frame of the bathroom. His hands and shirt covered in Lutz's blood, I want to wretch as I remember the gory fight.

"Was it you or Malachite Wren?" Leo's voice is raspy as I'm sure he's fighting the wolf inside him.

I can't meet his eyes, "I had no choice-"

His fist slams against the door as I try to skirt the question, "ANSWER ME WREN!"

Elder Cane and Doctor become very uncomfortable to see their Alpha get ordered by an omega. I stand to look him in the eyes and to assert my dominance, "it was me. I killed Lutz he was trying to mark me."

Leo runs forward and grab hold of my arms squeezing painfully hard. I wince as a few wounds start bleeding again, "Don't you f*****g lie to me, I know it was that f*****g b***h inside of you!"

Malachite fights for control and I do everything to stop her but my skin ripples and bones pop nonetheless. Before I could do anything Elder Cane grab Leo by the neck and forces him to my feet, placing a firm foot on his neck. "That is no way to talk to your Alpha pup! You will submit to her", I back up and shake my head in shock. 

How did it come to this, my best friend hates me. I feel the next words before he says them and my heart breaks as Malachite relishes the moment.

"I Leo of the Crescent Moon pack renounce Wren Crescent as my alpha", I hear his voice break as he realizes what he's done. Elder Cane removes his foot and Leo runs without looking back. I fall back to the floor as I feel our bond break.
