Dane looked up from his computer at his boss’s office. He bit his lips as he contemplated. They’d just announced a new vacancy in a position that was above his, which meant that someone was going to be promoted. He wanted to be that someone, and he was willing to do whatever it took to get the promotion.
He cleared his throat and knocked on the door. Xander, his boss looked up from sorting out the documents.
“Come in,” he instructed.
Dane closed the door behind him and Xander spared him a look.
“Yes?”
