Chapter one (I got in) Kayla's pov My mom was in the kitchen preparing our breakfast, while I was in the living room of our house going through my phone when I got a message saying that I was accepted to intern in the position of finances at Geronimos Enterprises, now before this I had applied to intern in this company for three months now but they never got back to me so I screamed “ahhh! Oh my God oh my God!" My mum hurriedly dashed to the living room wondering, “kayla what's wrong?" She asked extremely frightened “mom you are not gonna believe it, they accepted me for the internship programme" I said excitedly then she asked “which one" “Geronimos" I replied enthusiastically “i am so happy for you baby I knew you'd get in" “thanks mom" I said hugging her, then we heard a beeping noise “what's that sound?" I asked alarmed as I had started smelling smoke “oh my God I left the stove on" my mom said as she hurriedly went to turn it off, then another messaged popped up in my phone I read it aloud “be here in two hours or you are fired" I gulped, I haven't even started interning yet and I am already being considered to be fired. I dropped my phone and dashed into my room to hurriedly get ready. When it was time for me to leave the house I met my mom burning sage in the living room, “mom what are you doing?" I asked her as she started rounding it around me “i an cleansing every negative emotion that is around you" mom im gonna be late ivyou don't wrap this off" I said as she said held my hand “honey listen to me, you are gonna have a great day don't be too nervous" I breathed in deeply then out “how are you so sure?" I asked her still feeling nervous “im so sure because I have seen it" she said trying to assure me and surprisingly I relaxed a little I got into a taxi as my mom was still waving at me, I checked the time that I still having five minutes to spare, we had driven for a little bit when I saw a large number of cars infront of us “no no no, I'm going to be late if we don't keep driving now!" I said to the cab driver who was surprisingly a lady “sorry sugar but it's not my fault the road is blocked maybe it'll clear up soon" she said as a traffic warden came up to us “hey sir please could you tell us what's going on?" “a trailer fell of the bridge and landed onto the main road but no need to panick everything is alright, paramedics are already on the scene everything is under control" the warden said, but I was terribly in a haste so I had to get of the car and started running, also thanking God that I wasn't wearing heels or else. Finally I had gotten to the front door of the magnificent building that loomed in front of me, I was astonished by it's beauty, but I didn't have time to admire it cause I was pretty sure I was late. I got to the reception and met a lady “hi I am Kayla, the new intern" I said nervously as she checked something in her computer “you are late" she just said bluntly as she handed over an ID card to me with my face on it “use this to open the door and go toward the left, you'll meet your instructor" “thank you!" I said hurriedly as I ran toward the direction she gave me and I saw a middle aged lady, “you are late silverman" she addressed me by my surname “im sorry ma'am but there was an accident on the road so I had to....." “i don't care if there was an accident or the president said was passing so the road was blocked! As long as you work here you must arrive here on time is that clear?" She said “yes ma'am" I hurriedly said to avoid another back Kash from the grumpy old lady. The office was built in such a way that it was a large space and it was just a desk separating everyone from each other so a lot of people witnessed me being scolded by her. “hold the forte" she said as she left me and headed to God know where, “I see you've met miss knuckles" a blonde lady with brown eyes said to me she was wearing a milk coloured blouse with black skirt. “wait is her name really miss knuckles?" I asked almost laughing “well no her name is kunkle but she has the face and attitude of a boxer so we call her knuckles" the lady who I would come to know as Jocelyn said “another question isn't she married?" I asked again with attitude like that are you surprised that she isn't?" Then a guy tall and handsome guy, all cladded up in a navy blue suit, dark shades and a Rolex watch, came into the office heading towards the elevator but stopped as he saw me, I noticed a lot of people trying to adjust themselves when he came in, and a lot of ladies were drooling after him, he then tried to move but was still staring at me and nearly hit a table, I was slightly embarrassed and stopped looking at him, then he finally got to the elevator, “who is that guy?" I asked “he is only the most dreamiest and only child to Mr Geronimo" “ wait that's his son?" "Yeah the heir to this prestigious empire" Jocelyn said demonstrating with her hand. “miss Knuckles is here I better go" Jocelyn said pointing toward her cubicle. As miss kunkle came and sat opposite me “now silverman I want you to go to the company's inventory an keep these files in the order in which they are labeled" she commanded as I starred at the mountain of paper work that she told me to put away “ma'am please I don't know where the inventory......" The look she gave me made me to completely freeze on my tracks, I hurriedly carried the files and started running, and surprisingly the place was was really detailed in the way the signs was giving directions, so I just followed it carefully. Finally I got there and I used my id to open the door and got in I was really close to the cabinets for keeping the files and I heard “hey!" I was so startled that I dropped everything in my hand and they got scattered all over the floor, “ what the hell......"
