CHAPTER 002 Dorian held a glass of whiskey in his right hand as he sat back to watch the woman perform on stage while keeping his sharp gaze on her. She held onto the pole while her body moved with natural grace. Her face, hidden by the mask, did not distract him from her. "Selina," he murmured. The woman next to him became rigid as she stood beside him. "Yes, my lord." "Call me Leonidas." His voice maintained a steady tone, and his eyes stayed fixed on the dancer. The slight opening of her lips created an accidental seductive effect, deepening his attraction toward her. The dancer nodded quickly and then left to execute his command. Dorian leaned forward, intrigued. This dancer stood out from the rest. Her red eyes captured his attention, which he had never seen before. Another slow sip of his drink passed through his lips. Leonidas greeted Dorian with respect by standing at a proper distance. Dorian faced him with a patient expression. "Who is she?" Leonidas hesitated. "She’s a dancer, my lord." The men in the club watched Kyra, but Dorian's expression grew stern. He straightforwardly declared his desire for her. Leonidas paled. The worker status of this woman does not apply to her, my lord. She’s—only a dancer." Dorian moved deliberately slowly as he walked. He stopped in front of Leonidas, his expression revealing his inner coldness. "I don’t care." His voice was dangerously low. "Get her to my room. Now." Selina trailed behind him as he left. Leonidas nervously ran his hand through his hair as panic built in his chest. "s**t… what do I do?" he muttered, clenching his fists. She would never agree. Dorian would execute Leonidas if he failed in his task. Leonidas cursed under his breath, his frustration boiling over. A sudden flash of understanding illuminated his expression, and he smirked. He muttered, "That could work," before disappearing quickly. *** "Kyra, wait a second!" Leonidas stepped in front of her path while her expression turned confused. "What is it?" Leonidas exhaled, looking guilty. "Forgive me," he whispered. His fist struck her head with a powerful blow before she could respond. A sudden, intense pain traveled through her head. Her spinning vision caused her legs to collapse beneath her. Darkness swallowed her whole. Leonidas stepped forward to catch her body before she fell to the ground. He carried her into his arms and rushed toward the private suites while muttering, "Perfect." He entered the room by pushing the door open while checking the area. The room was empty. He swiftly positioned Kyra on the bed before stepping away and running out of the room. *** Opening her eyes, she found herself in a strange silence that enveloped the space. Her head pounded. Something wasn’t right. She moved her body slightly when she noticed another person in the room. Her breathing stopped momentarily. Dorian Gregor. The name echoed inside her mind. Although she had never encountered him personally, she knew all the stories about his powerful and ruthless nature, which made him untouchable. Panic rushed through her veins. She found herself in a situation that made no sense. Dorian approached the bed to unbutton his shirt while revealing his muscular physique. Kyra’s muscles tensed. Her body refused to obey her commands to move. Dorian moved closer to her face while gently touching her cheek with his fingers. His lips moved near her jaw as he whispered, "You're exquisite." Kyra shifted her eyes toward the nightstand—a bottle of wine. Her heart pounded. This was her chance. She seized the bottle when his hold on her weakened. She used every ounce of her power to strike his head with the bottle. Glass shattered. Dorian stumbled backward while blood oozed from his temple. Kyra didn’t wait. She dashed out of bed and ran toward the exit. Dorian held his head while letting out a groan of pain. The intense pain in his skull forced him to regain his balance. His eyesight became hazy while his body felt the heat of rage beneath his skin. She would **pay** for that. The door exploded open before he could stand up. A shadow loomed over him. The final thought that crossed his mind before blacking out was the unmistakable smirk of Theo Hardy. *** Freezing water hit his face with a sudden cold shock. The sudden awakening left him with aching muscles and a stiff body. The dim illumination showed stone walls surrounding him—cold air bit at his skin. A train tunnel. His stomach twisted. The silence ended when Theo spoke his first words to Dorian. Dorian raised his head to face the man who showed no signs of emotion. Theo moved toward him with purposeful steps. "You stole from me, Dorian. You believed you could escape without consequences, but you were wrong. Dorian swallowed hard. He knew this was coming. "C’mon, Theo. No need to do this. I’ll return the money. Hell, I’ll double it." Theo smirked. Do you believe this dispute is about financial matters? Dorian clenched his jaw. Theo took another step forward. I had no intention of killing you. But that woman at the club?" His expression darkened. "She’s… interesting." Dorian stood motionless as Theo walked away without another word. That was it? Was he **letting him go**? Anger bubbled beneath his skin. His mind raced back to Kyra. The woman at the club catalyzed everything that happened. He would find her. And when he did— She wouldn’t escape this time. Multiple voices carried through the tunnel. "Dorian!" His name rang out. A dim light emerged from the distant horizon. His world shifted as he tried to answer. The darkness swallowed him again. Selina's voice became his final auditory experience before he lost consciousness by calling out his name. Dorian received fortunate circumstances because Theo displayed uncharacteristic kindness during that time. Evangeline entered the spacious living room; her eyes focused directly on Theo Hardy, who stood at the minibar. The time of day when he drank alcohol made him stand out from his habits. He maintained complete discipline while keeping perfect control of himself. A different atmosphere enveloped the room tonight. She paused briefly before advancing while maintaining a proper distance. She avoided taking unoccupied seats because she understood the importance of asking first. "Alpha Theo, is something wrong?" Her tone remained steady, yet she infused her words with worry. Theo didn’t acknowledge her immediately. His fingers ran along the edge of his glass while his mind traveled to distant thoughts. Evangeline frowned. His deep contemplation was a rare occurrence. "Alpha?" she tried again. After a deliberate drink, Theo placed his glass on the table. His face showed no emotion, but his eyes revealed an unsettled state. Finally, he exhaled. "That woman," he murmured. Evangeline’s brow furrowed. "Which woman?" Theo rested against his chair while he watched his glass. "The one Dorian wanted tonight." Her confusion deepened. "The Mirage Lounge dancer?" Theo nodded once. Evangeline’s stomach twisted. What made him focus on **her**? Theo avoided wasting his time on women throughout his life. He employed these women before abandoning them to pursue new relationships. But this... this was different. Theo spoke quietly to himself about the woman he found different from others. "She didn’t flinch. Didn’t cower. She fought back." Evangeline kept quiet as she struggled to understand his statements. The numerous women Theo had dated before seemed insignificant because one particular woman completely absorbed him. She watched him intently before declaring, "You want her." A subtle grin formed on Theo's face. "Yes." Evangeline experienced a peculiar sensation in her chest. Getting into bed with her would be simpler through alternative methods. Theo chuckled. Do you believe this relationship is limited to physical intimacy? Evangeline hesitated. "Isn’t it?" Theo lost his smirk as he stirred his drink with the glass. He instructed her to learn everything about the woman. She must reveal every aspect of her life, including her residence and social network. Evangeline held her fists tightly by her sides. "Understood?" She forced a nod. "Yes, Alpha Theo. I will obtain the information before sunrise. "Good." Theo stood, stretching his shoulders. The Alpha demanded absolute precision from his orders. He climbed the staircase without speaking and left Evangeline to face the empty room. Her thoughts churned. Theo has never shown any romantic interest in women in his life except for brief s****l encounters. What made Alpha Theo develop this sudden obsession with Kyra Antonio? Her jaw tightened. The situation was nothing more than a brief moment of interest. Right? Did a hidden force exist beneath the surface?
