Chapter 1: The Blade and the Oath.
The air inside the marble room was cold and quiet. Ten years ago, Rhea Sacramento was just a terrified twelve-year-old girl. She had spent the worst night of her life hiding inside a dark closet, holding her mouth shut while men in suits shot her parents dead. She had nowhere to go. No family left. No money. Then, Las Farra found her. Las Farra was not an ordinary group. It was a secret, powerful network run entirely by women—women who had been wronged, betrayed, or left for dead by the city’s dirtiest criminal bosses. They took Rhea in. They fed her, clothed her, and gave her a home. But more than that, they taught her how to fight back. For ten years, Rhea did not play like other girls. While others went to school dances, Rhea learned how to hack secure computers, break bones with her bare hands, and read a man’s weaknesses just by watching him walk. Las Farra turned a broken orphan into a deadly weapon. Now, at twenty-two years old, Rhea stood in the middle of Las Farra’s main hall. Four matriarchs—the leaders of the faction—sat before her in long black dresses. At the center sat Madam Vane, the woman who had pulled Rhea out of the street a decade ago. "Rhea," Madam Vane’s voice echoed off the walls. It was smooth, but sharp like glass. "The men who killed your parents think you are dead. They think they won. They took your family's money, took your house, and built an empire on your blood." Rhea did not blink. Her face was as calm as water, but inside, her heart burned like fire. "They made a mistake leaving me alive." Madam Vane stood up and walked toward her. She held a small wooden box. When she opened it, a silver ring with a carved viper blade rested inside. It was the mark of a full Las Farra operative. "Your training is over," Madam Vane said, placing the ring into Rhea's palm. "You leave tonight. Go back to the city. Take back what belongs to you, and tear their world down piece by piece. Do not show mercy." Rhea closed her hand around the cold silver ring. "I won't," Rhea said softly. "I will make them beg."An hour later, Rhea sat in the back of a black tinted sedan, watching the city skyline pass by. The city had not changed. Tall glass buildings stretched into the sky, lit up by thousands of bright lights. To regular people, it looked beautiful. But Rhea knew the truth. Behind those glowing skyscrapers was the Iron Dragon Syndicate—the powerful gang that had murdered her parents and taken control of their company, Sacramento Global. The sedan pulled up to the grand entrance of the Grand Imperial Hotel. Red carpets were rolled out, and news cameras flashed everywhere. Tonight was the annual charity gala hosted by Victor Drake, the current head of the syndicate. Rhea checked her reflection in the small car mirror. She wore an elegant, long black silk gown with a high slit up the side. Her dark hair fell in soft waves over her shoulders, and her lips were painted deep red. She looked like a billionaire heiress, not a girl raised in the shadows of an all-women crime faction. "Remember your objective," the female driver said, speaking for the first time. "You are not here to kill Victor tonight. You are here to plant the seed. Let him know the debt is due." "I know," Rhea said. She slipped a tiny, custom-built electronic tracker into her designer handbag. Attached to her thigh beneath the dress was a slim, razor-sharp steel dagger—a gift from Las Farra. Rhea opened the car door and stepped out. The moment her heels hit the pavement, heads turned. Reporters snapped pictures, trying to figure out who the stunning, unknown woman was. Rhea paid them no attention. She walked through the heavy glass doors and stepped into the main ballroom. The room was filled with hundreds of people—politicians, businessmen, and rich socialites, all drinking expensive champagne. And then, she saw him. Standing on the VIP balcony overlooking the crowd was Victor Drake. He was in his late fifties, wearing a sharp gray suit, holding a glass of wine, and laughing with city officials. On the ring finger of his right hand, a heavy black stone ring caught the light. Rhea’s jaw tightened. That was the exact same ring she had watched through the closet door ten years ago as her father took his last breath. Her heart beat fast, but her face stayed completely stone-cold. She took a glass of champagne from a passing waiter and walked slowly toward the VIP staircase. Two heavy-set security guards in black suits stepped in her way. "VIP section only, miss. Do you have a pass?" Rhea didn't panic. She smiled, a soft, charming smile that made the guards lower their guard for a fraction of a second. "Tell Victor that a representative from Sacramento Global is here to deliver an old message," she said softly. The guards frowned, confused by the name. Before they could ask another question, Rhea slid past them, her movements fast and smooth like water. She walked straight onto the balcony. Victor Drake turned around, a fake smile on his face, expecting another rich donor. But when his eyes met Rhea’s cold, dark gaze, his smile slowly vanished. He didn't recognize her face, but something in her eyes made the hair on his arms stand up. "Can I help you, young lady?" Victor asked, his voice deep and raspy. Rhea stood three feet away from him. She took a slow sip of her champagne, leaning in slightly so only he could hear her over the music. "Ten years ago, you took a family's life and took their name," Rhea whispered, her voice has come to collect." Before Victor could speak, Rhea dropped a small silver coin onto his table—stamped with the mark of a coiled viper. She turned on her heel and walked away into the crowded room, disappearing before he could even call his guards. On the balcony, Victor stared at the silver coin on the table, his hand trembling as he realized his past had finally caught up to him.
