Aiden POV
Chapter 3
I trudged into detention, half asleep. Luckily I was told it was right by my last lesson, English, which is why I was half asleep. My English teacher went on and on about some book she read and students kept bringing stuff up and she'd go on a tangent about anything slightly related to what they asked. Like lord she was worse than that boy Lucas when it came to talking but she had such a monotone voice, she was like a real-life sleeping pill. I forgot her name, droned out as soon as she opened her mouth. I really can't be bothered with detention right now, probably would've gone straight home if I didn't have to walk past it to get out.
There was a teacher waiting for me inside, wearing a Pe uniform and a blank expression to match the other 2 students that were in there. He handed me a sheet of paper and said I needed to write an apology during this time to reflect and blah blah blah.
He told me to take a seat at the front next to a very annoyed boy. He was around my height, slightly smaller but not as small as Fabian. I took a seat and slapped the paper on the desk, he must be joking.
I took out a pen and scribbled down something. 'I am sorry... that this school is so uptight. f**k an apology because I'm honestly not sorry for anything so kindly get out my business' It felt nice to write that down, who do they think they are anyway. I'm 18, it's not illegal, they're just whiney stuck up pricks who really need a fresh taste of reality compared to this posh delusional they live in.
I lean back on my chair and close my eyes, might as well get some sleep since there's nothing else to do. Just as I started to nod off I heard a snort from my left. Looking over I saw the boy next to me with his hand over his mouth giggling. I look up to find no one in the room but the kid asleep behind us and this giggling mess beside me.
"You good?" I ask cautiously
"Man, your funny" Oh, he read my little apology. I'll take that as a compliment to my writing skills.
"Yeah, I'm real funny," I say in response
"Who are you, don't think I've seen you around" He says turning to me.
"Aiden Davis, I'm new here"
"Oh that explains it, nice to know someones got a sense of humor around here, I'm Jenson Williams" He smiles kindly as his freckle dusted cheeks turned rosy from his smile.
"Nice to meet you Jenson" I've gotta be nice since he doesn't seem like an asshole like everyone else around here.
"So, Aiden, how'd you end up in detention on the first day" He raises a brow
"Got caught smoking on a balcony, you?"
"Sawyer huh? he's such a killjoy. Well, I got into an argument with a prick in my classes. He kept droning on and on about his girlfriend like she was some object, so two-faced, I saw him earlier talking to her saying she was the only one he loved and that he couldn't live without her. Don't know who he was lying to but I hate fake people."
"What a prick" I scoffed
"Yeah, he really is, he tattled to the teacher as well since I swore at him, he deserved it though"
"f*****g snitch, swearing isn't that bad" I rolled my eyes
"oh, no I threw a chair at him" He responded casually.
Oh
That's when I burst out laughing.
We laughed together for a while, talking about nonsense things that just made us laugh even more and before we knew it detention was over. Pe guy walked in and said we could leave then he just left again.
"Oh, I gotta get home, hope to see you around Aiden" He smiled before rushing out the door
I picked up my bag, scrupled up my piece of paper and tossed it at the sleeping kid as I walked out.
Walking down the empty hall was actually hella calming, I think I should walk home. I already knew where it was since I always like to know where I am, I hate being in unknown places, makes me anxious so I sometimes go out of my way of maps to know where everything is.
"Aiden!" a chipper voice called out to me. It was Willow. I turned to her and stopped in my tracks.
"Glad I caught you" she panted.
"Look I'm sorry, I've got band practice right now, I could've given you a lift an hour ago but I couldn't find you. Think you could wait an hour?" She said cautiously
"It's cool, I was gonna walk anyway," I said back
"Oh if you're okay with that, I gotta go back to practice now but see you at home!" she said before skipping off down the hall and into some room.
I was taking my time walking, taking in the scenery, it was so pretty I could smile but I don't smile.
I started to walk under a bridge when I heard some smacks, sounded like punching. True to my ear right there under the bridge was a fight, hard to make out but what I could definitely see were three guys against this one guy who looked backed up against the wall. Poor kid.
Not gonna lie he was really putting up a fight, looked my height and very strong. But he was loosing, even I could tell he was running out of stamina. I started to get closer and could hear the three guys shouting some very racist slurs I would rather not have in my thoughts. Wow, now I'm pissed. Who the f**k do they think they are to say that.
I might as well intervene, it has been a while since I got into a fight and I'm slightly giddy. Which I did as a ran behind one of them and drop-kicked them in the head, he fell to the ground as the others looked at me in shock but they didn't stop, instead, they directed to me as well.
My shoulder whammed into the other boy's shoulder as we stood back to back facing these pricks. I was becoming exhausted but so were they, a finishing punch in the face and they should be out cold. And they were as my fist connected with one's face and the other kicked in the balls. Different tactic but still effect on his part. We were left there sweating up a storm and breathing heavily.
"huff huff, thanks man, what's yo name," He said in between pants.
"Aiden, you?" I said back, also panting and slowly starting to hear something other than my heartbeat in my chest.
" well, thanks Aiden, I'm Theo"
We sat there for a while, waiting for our breaths to slow down and eventually it did, don't know how long it took but it did.
"Well, I should be going but thanks again Aiden, you from Bellhurst too? Haven't seen you around before" he said as he began to stretch
"Yeah I'm new but I'll see you around?" I asked as I grabbed my bag that had been ripped of in the fight, still curious about how it started but couldn't be bothered to ask and was too tired to stay around, I just wanted to get home.
"Defo see you around mate, better leave since they might wake up soon, later!" He said as he jogged off
"later" I whispered to nothing before I head off myself leaving the collapsed guys on the floor.
Finally made it to the gate after what felt like an hour especially in my state. I opened the gate but before I entered I heard a very familiar obnoxious laugh that chilled my spine. I looked over my shoulder across the street to see the one and only Lucas Brooks. f**k. He and his friends were walking up the driveway of the house opposite mine, well the gate to my house. I sure hope that that's just one of his friend's houses. I would hate to have him leaving near me, I'll ask Kyle though.
I walked into the house and was greeted by kyle and a glass of water. That's nice.
"So how was your first day a school young master"
"oh uh, it was okay, anyway, who lives across the street?" I was gonna try and be subtle about this but what's the point.
"ah yes that's where the Brooks household lives. Very close to madam River and Master Davis. You'll probably see a lot of them since they are very close friends." He smiled at me before excusing himself.
Well s**t.
