“He’s right, Cane. He shouldn’t be tied down by me. If the scientist can give us a child, let him try. In the meantime, I want to be there to protect you all. What kind of mother would I b if I let you all suffer alone. So I will be coming with you. That’s that.” Estelle said in a chipper voice that almost sounded pitchy.
“Exactly, thank you Estelle.” Seth began but Estelle stopped him with a glance, keeping her sweet smile.
“Of course as long as you don’t betray us. I won’t betray you. Those were the terms of our pairing. All of our peoples secrets for all of your secrets. All of our loyalty to you so that one day you can cure us from the curse placed on us. Work hard dear. I wouldn’t want the scientists to discover a solution before you and use it against us.” Estelle said with a strange tone behind her smile. When she finished she stood up slowly and silently walked out of the room without a second glance to any of them or another word.
…
By the time the four were leaving the estate the sun was beginning to set and both Cane and Estelle had fallen asleep in the back seat.
Arc, pretended to sleep in the passenger seat, leaving Leron alone with his thoughts.
Leron, rubbed his mark with one hand and kept his other on the wheel.
When something flashed in his eyes. Making him squint.
He shook it off and adjusted his focus but by the time he put his eyes on the road something had jumped out in the middle of the road.
“What the f**k?” He said as he came to a stop not really caring how close he got to the dumbass that wanted to play in the middle of the road but still knew that he would stop in time.
“Arc, are you seeing what I’m seeing?” Leron said as he leaned closer to the window shield.
Click.
The shocking sound of the passenger side door closing answered Leron’s question.
“Cane, protect Estelle.” Leron said before he climbed out the car to join Arc.
The smell of blood seeped into the car as he did, causing Cane’s beast to stir. Estelle rubbed small circles onto his back, praying that it would be enough to keep him calm.
“Did you do this?” Arc asked although he already knowing the answer.
Leron scowled, as he took in the scene before him.
As if the smell of the blood wasn’t evident enough, streams of blood rolled towards the two alphas like a red carpet.
The source of the blood came from the four mutilated bodies lying on the ground as if they were staged.
They laid in a line the feet of the first touching the next and so forth.
Standing past the line was one person. Who seemed drunk of the killing as they swayed side to side.
Blood covered their dark clothing, making it look like it had just rained on the them.
“Who are you?” Arc said instead of waiting for the answer to the first.
The swaying person didn’t say a word, just lifted a shaky finger towards the two alphas and began to laugh.
“That’s it.” Arc snapped and began to stomp towards the mocking murderer but Leron raised his arm to stop him.
“We’re being watched, this is a trap.” He warned low enough for only Arc to hear.
“Do you think that’s going to stop me from killing that little bastard?”
“Wait, something’s not right? Get back into the car.”
Arc, cursed but listened to Leron.
Together, they took steps back without turning their backs on the enemy.
Arc, pointed towards the swaying person and then switched his pointed finger to his thumb and swiped it against his own neck.
“Remember this dipshit, around here we still kill the messengers. I’ve got your scent.” Arc, declared.
As soon as the words left his mouth, they were met with growling and shapes moving in shadows.
The shapes shrouded the swaying body in a protective manner. Slowly stalking closer towards the murderer until Arc and Leron were able to see them more clearly.
The bodies weren’t human but they were large.
They stood on four limbs, they were covered in long thick hair and looked like nothing the three alphas have never seen before.
But although they looked different, they could hear the familiar growls that they were used to hearing from their people.
Which meant that those creatures were somehow like them.
Arc, growled back masking the shock beneath his anger.
His growl was much deeper than the tall creatures. It was enough to make more than half of the creatures hug the ground.
“If you freaks think that that cute little purr is going to protect the one covered in my people’s blood then you are very mistaken. Prepare his mother f*****g grave tonight.” Arc said before making one last daring statement and turning his back on the enemy.
Leron, decided to do the same and together they went back into the car and drove off past the line of bodies and stunned creatures.
As soon as the car was out of sight the bones of largest creature of the crowd began to make loud snapping and cracking sounds.
As the long thick hair on his body began to recede, the snapping became more intense and cracking faster. The body soon began to morph into a new shape, looking more human than creature until the creature’s features disappeared completely and there stood a human.
The growls coming from the creature slowly became a loud groan until a fully grown man emerged and marched towards the swaying person
Then without warning the full grown man drew his arm back and then slammed it into the side of the person’s blood covered face.
The force of the hit sent the person to the floor.
“What the hell was that? Why the hell are even here Kevin? Do even know what would’ve happened, if those men decided to retaliate because of you?” The man roared
“They had it coming!” Kevin spat back. his head snapping towards the towering man in anger. As if to make his point, he then spat out the blood pooling in his mouth.
The angry man c****d his fist back again causing Kevin to flinch. Fortunately for Kevin two woman in human form rushed to hold the angry man back.
“Let me go, this f*****g cocky i***t needs to learn.”
“Lucas, calm down. This is not the place for any of this. Right or wrong, what’s done is done. That loud man just threatened to take Kevin’s life and until we know otherwise we need to take it seriously.” The woman holding Lucas pleaded.
Lucas pushed her off of him and looked at the bodies lying on the floor.
“You saw what he just did, the threat is as real as they come. That’s exactly why I warned him, Livy. What just happened is why I told everyone to stay off the island!”
Kevin shot up onto his feet, his adrenaline giving him the confidence to finally stand up to the alpha.
“No, you’re just a coward, too weak to avenge our people who were kidnapped and killed on this f*****g island.”
“What did you just f*****g say?” Lucas said before charging towards Kevin to give him the punch he’s been holding back til now.
Olivia, and the other person rushed to stop him but Kevin wasn’t done.
“Our people died out here alone, we all felt when they left the pack bond! So why am I the crazy one for making the bastards pay!”
