Zuri the Golden wolf...

1943 Words
I’m in a garden. Like a secret oasis. Trees grow tall bearing fruit. The soil is rich with green grass and flowers as far as the eye can see. There is a body of water with a waterfall but it seems to flow softly. Nothing splashes toward me. As I walk closer, I see an animal crouched lapping up water. It’s a wolf, with golden fur that seems to reflect off the sunlight. She lifts her head and looks at me. Tilting her head to the side. “Took you long enough.” She tells me and I frown. “Where am I? Who are you?” I step closer not feeling any danger. “You are in the sacred garden where the moon goddess lives.” The wolf tells me. Her eyes are also a beautiful golden color like her fur. “I am your wolf. My name is Zuri. It’s nice to meet you. I’ve been waiting so long for this moment.” “Do you know what has been blocking you? Or who did it? Did you see it happen?” I ask coming closer. She motions with her snout for me to sit down. I sit next to her. Taking off my shoes so my feet are dipped in the cool water. “I don’t know who did this. But I know just when I’m ready to speak, I get shoved back into the recesses of your mind.” She lays her head in my lap. “I am so sorry. I’m here at a werewolf pack to get help. The Luna here is the actual Omni-Wolf!” I tell her a stroke her fur. She purrs and I smile at her playfulness. “Yes, I can feel her wolf trying to communicate. I also feel another wolf. He is strong as well with powerful magic. You need to be open to everything around you. This pack is filled with such power in the soil. You will need it. It’s important that you get me to the surface sooner than later.” “Am I in trouble? Are we in danger?” I ask as she exhales seeming tired. “I can only tell you what I feel. That and what the moon goddess shares. She will call for you soon. You must work harder to help me surface. Listen to the elder. She knows what she is talking about.” “Elder CeCe? She just wants me to have a lot of s*x! There has to be another way.” I laugh at the absurdity of it all. “I need rest, this has taken a lot. I’m fighting the spell just to be here with you. Listen to the elder.” She tells me as the room begins to fade. I am surrounded by darkness. Not even the sound of my mother’s wind chimes gives me solace. I try and run. Hoping to find the light. Then I see a little flicker as I run towards it. I wake up to the beeping sound and open my eyes. I see a white ceiling and feel soreness throughout my body. I try and remember the last thing that happened. I’m blank for the moment. I turn to the left seeing a monitoring machine. That I am connected to. In my peripheral I see a figure. A massive figure and I know who it is instantly. “Dalia. When I said get to training, I didn’t mean this deeply into training.” Maximus smirks as he takes a seat next to my bed. “I am fine. I just blacked out. I think it was from one of her punches. She knocked me out, didn’t she? b***h!” I say half joking. “You don’t remember?” You got blasted by her powers and then your wolf came forward. Your eyes turned a golden color and you beat the brakes off of her. When I got to you, she was knocked out cold. You were still beating her ass. I had to pull you off of her.” He tells me as I stare at him in shock. “I don’t remember any of that.” I whisper as he touches my hand. It’s such a tender moment that sends warmth through my body. I wish I got more of it with him. “Your wolf is very powerful. There is video. You can see what you did for yourself when you get released from here.” Maximus tells me. “I feel fine now. Can we get back to practice? I really need to train.” I remember my wolf’s words. “No, you will rest. The doctor hasn’t even been in to check on you since you woke up.” Maximus tells me. “Well, can you call the doctor now?” I ask. Then my nostrils flair. I sniff the air and I smell it. “You’ve been with Brooklyn.” It’s a statement. Not a question. I can smell her on him. “Yes, she was brought in and woke up first. I just wanted to check on her. She doesn’t have any family.” He tells me not making eye contact like before. “Well, don’t let me stop you from where you really want to be.” I stare at him without emotions but my words say otherwise. “Dalia…” He warns as the door opens. Dr. Yara enters. “I heard you were awake. I’m Dr. Yara, how do you feel Dalia?” The nice female doctor gives me a warm smile. “I feel much better. Can I get back to training?” I ask giving her my million-dollar smile. Dr. Yara chuckles. “You are strong and determined. Reminds me of Luna Briar. You have a major skill set. Powers we have never witnessed. We need you to bare with us as we all work on this together. I would like for you to rest until tomorrow.” Dr. Yara tells me. “My wolf said I need to practice because something is coming. I can’t defend myself from bed.” I blurt out. “What did your wolf tell you exactly?” Maximus steps closer. His massive frame seems to take all the light from the room. Still, he gives me security like a warm blanket. I begin to answer him as the door opens and in walks CeCe the great. She has a different young warrior with her. He is at least wearing a shirt. I try and suppress my smile. “There she is! I felt you awaken. Did you see the moon goddess or your wolf?” She asks me and Maximus looks at me in surprise. “My wolf.” I tell her then look to Maximus. “What? Maximus, I tell you I am more than just a pretty face. I could feel her energy. I’m just waiting on it to tell me what is blocking her.” Cece smiles and greets Dr. Yara. “Hello Doctor. So, when can we spring her?” I feel Beast huff and I smile. Beast is the literal definition of a big teddy bear. I smooth over the sheets I am currently under. “I want her to not train for the rest of the day. Her wolf is drained easy. Because of the spell she has on her. But whatever else you can do to prepare her I’m good with.” Dr. Yara tells us. “I guess I can do that.” I nod begrudgingly. Maximus looks relieved. “Did Your wolf…” CeCe asks. “Zuri, my wolf’s name is Zuri.” I say with pride. “Beautiful name! Well did Zuri give us anything to go on? Trying to pry information from you is tougher than trying to remove a butt plug!” I fall out laughing as Maximus and CeCe’s male escort look uncomfortable. Oh, I do enjoy her free spirit. “Sorry CeCe. She said she didn’t know who put the spell on me. But that whenever she is close to surfacing, I am doused with more. So, it’s still happening.” I tell them. “What am I going to do?” I almost whisper. “We will train more tomorrow and figure out what spells we can rule out. We need to get your wolf to the surface. So, we did training. Now on to herbs. Then big guy, you will be needed for your services.” CeCe pats Maximus on the shoulder and I swear we both blush. “I’m sure we can find a solution without you offering my body to any random man you think is a good match for me.” I smile half joking. I am letting Maximus off the hook of letting me down. “Child, I’m not offering you to just anyone. I’m offering you-” She is cut off by a dramatic Maximus. “CeCe, we need to focus on getting her out of here.” He speaks loudly like someone is going to stop him. I frown looking his way. I notice a blocked mind-link message going through between them. “I will meet you when you are released to the pack house.” CeCe pats my foot. “Come on boy toy, momma has some miles to make up.” The guy smiles and follows her. “Well, let me get the paperwork ready for your release.” Dr. Yara smiles and steps out of the room. Now its just the two of us. “Maximus, are you okay?” I ask watching him walk towards my windows. It faces out to the forest. “We need to find who is behind this. Quickly. I had a premonition while you were out and it showed me a great battle. You were on the frontlines as they tried to get to you at all directions. I kept getting pushed further and further from you.” “Did I win?” I ask just above a whisper as he smiles. “Of course you did. But it gave me clarity. Now I must give you all the knowledge and skillset.” “You’re lying. I can see it in your eyes.” I can sense something happened. Something that was my downfall. “Dalia.” I cut him off. He turns and begins walking towards me but I don’t stop. I see him getting angry. Good because so am I. “I need you to not keep secrets and not talk in f*****g blocked mind-links in front of me.” He wants to interrupt but I hold up my hand. “I’m not done. You are supposed to be here to help me. Your secrets hinder me! I need you Maximus to either work with me or step out of my way.” I hear the beeping from the monitors. He is right in front of me. He leans in closer to my face. The monitor is going crazy as he sits on my bed. Taking up all the damn space. I squeeze my legs together so he doesn’t realize what he is doing to me. His eyes jerk to the machine and then back to my eyes. His dark chocolate almost black eyes stare into my soul once more. Revealing all my secrets to him. The air in the room suddenly feels so thick and warm. Like I’m having trouble breathing. He leans so close I can taste him. If I lick my lips, I’m tasting his own. His chest rises and falls like he is about to shift.
