Big Brother Ivan.
The oldest of us all, or as the big mistake that Aunt Axilla says. It's funny how Ivan was called the mistake and my parents kept going. Gemma and Adam said that they were trying to make girls but they got me and Chloe later on in life. Ivan is what you'd call the-over-protective-brother-sometimes-but-he-has-his-Moments Moments. Ivan is 6'6 I believe and finished growing, I hope. I mean Ivan's taller than my Mom and Dad. He's taller than all of us in fact. Dad calls him big guy instead of Ivan. Ivan has blonde spiked hair, hazel eyes, and he's the German dude from Dad.
In Chemistry, Mr. Becklash, spoke about the Periodic table from beginning to end. Ivan and I have three periods together. Chemistry, French and Gym—my least favorite subject in this school. I sit ahead of Ivan three desks down and beside some goofy guy named Jameson. Becklash is from Canada and he's a very funny looking guy. One eye looks bigger than the other, a flat chest and a beer gut with a stinky looking beard and mustache.
"Now the element for Gold is Au," Becklash spoke. "There's a lot of Au's in many things that surrounds us." He turned his back to us and Jameson leaned over in my space. Which I am pretty crazed about having my personal space, like Dylan and Aaron who needs theirs like all the time.
"Are you really doing this?" Jameson asked me. I pulled the earplugs from my ears and looked at him. His dark eyes and blonde hair cut and falling to his shoulders. Looks like a younger version of my Dad. But except the brown eyes that Dad doesn't carry.
"Why do think I have music in my head?" I asked him. He snorted and looked behind him at my brother. Ivan looked at the both of us before putting his pen to his book. He's the nerdy nerd guy by the way.
"Ivan actually does this?" He asked me. My eyes looked at him and I pursed my lips. Jameson was the class clown and the personal space taker. He has a crush on me and he knows about Justin but that doesn't stop him.
"Yup, he's the nerd of the family," I said placing my earpiece in my ears again and started doodling on my paper.
"Ms. Burkes, do you and Mr. Blur have anything you'd like to share with the class?" Becklash said, his back still facing us. Jameson and I exchanged views and pursed our lips before Jameson shook his head and muttered, "no sir" to him.
"Do you think he could help me with my homework?" Jameson said with a smile on his face. I rolled my eyes at him and took a breath of fresh air and looked at the pie face boy next to me.
"Maybe do it?" he added still smiling.
"The only thing that Ivan can do, is give you a head trauma," I spoke, speaking the truth about my big brother. "And besides, if you haven't already known, he will ruin your life."
"I thought he tried that already?" Jameson said. "He grabbed my lunch last week and just rubbed it against his bare foot and hands." I looked at him before smitten at him and laughing.
"Ivan gave you foot-hands lunch," I sang to him, and elbowed him in his arm. The class laughed and turned their attention to Jameson. Becklash turned to us, his bare eyes on me. I gave him a smile and showed my teeth and Jameson who did the same. Becklash turned to the board and finished writing. Jameson and I looked at each other and just burst out laughing and crying. Students looked at us like we were crazy and Ivan gave me a look, his eyebrows done.
"So, as I was saying, the element for Gold is Au," Becklash spoke looking at us and turning to the class. "Starting tomorrow I'm gonna be putting you in groups. Four-per-group and 1,000 points per-person." I heard a pound come from behind me and I turned to Jameson whose eyes were looking past me at the person behind me. I followed his eyes to the girl and her face was plastered to her desk. We looked at Becklash and turned back to the girl; I looked at my brother and he had his face covered by his hands. Did he throw something at her? I looked back at the girl and turned to Mr. Becklash.
"Did you do what I think you did, Mr. Burkes?" Mr. Becklash asked Ivan. Ivan's head popped up at him and he shook his head at him.
"I just watched her head take a nap," Ivan said trying to make a joke out of the problem. Becklash looked at me and I threw my hands up at him.
"Don't look at me," I defended myself, "I look just as concerned as you are." Becklash walked to the girl's desk and crouched down to her level and shook her arm softly mumbling her name. I looked at Ivan who was still holding his laugh with his hand. The girl looked up at Becklash, and they both had a little conversation before the girl's head came in contact with her desk again but not so hard this time.
When Becklash went back to his teaching, I quickly slid my chair to Ivan and he had a smile plastered on his face. His dimpled chin forming along with his dark hazel eyes. "Did you throw something at her?" I asked my brother. Ivan gave me a toothy grin but shook his head. I frowned at him. "Alejandro," I called out, rolling my tongue to his middle name, although he hated it, like we all hate our middle names.
"Her head went down and the laughter came out; that was too damn good to be true," Ivan sang the Outro Chord to Jason Derulo's song Whatcha say featuring Imogen Heap in his version. I opened my mouth to speak but Becklash chimed himself in.
"Mr. and Ms. Burkes," Becklash said. "The two of you have detention with me after school." Ivan and I exchanged views, I could hear Ivan's thoughts—no not really.
"I ain't going to that s**t," Ivan mumbled to himself, loud enough for just me to hear, and turned to face me and leaned forward; "and neither should you." I curled my lips and turned my head to the side still holding a stare on him.
"Who you telling?" I said, "I owe three years of detention." Ivan snorted as I pushed myself back to the table with Jameson. I looked at Becklash and gave a smile,
"Just a brother to sister influence," I said coming up with a new lie. Jameson looked at me and I kept my smile on Becklash. He turned to finish his lecture and Jameson looked at me.
"You're not going anywhere near that room, are you?" he asked me. I shook my head, nope. Jameson looked at Ivan and back to Becklash. "Will you ever get to that class?"
"When I'm dead," I said and started to tap my foot to the loud music coming from my earplugs. I placed them back in my ears and went back to humming the tune in my head.
Only five minutes until this butt cheek class is over and I have Mrs. Englert. I have that class with two of my brothers, Dylan and Aaron. Both of my least favorite siblings in the household. I always ask myself, why did God give my parents 8 boys and he knew that the two little girls—me and Chloe—were gonna be going through hell? We've been going through hell since we were kids. Four out of five boys, nearly killed us—sarcasm? Yes.
