Chapter 1 (First day of school)

The bell rings, the students fall in line, it’s loud, chaotic and everyone’s excited about their first day in school. The principal stands and everyone pays attention. “Good morning children, today is your first day in school and I am glad to see that all of you are excited about getting into your classrooms. I’m not going to make my speech long, so I hope you all the best and good luck to each one of you, and may you start learning something today.” The principal takes her exit and the students are lining to go into their rooms properly, but there’s is this one girl who’s so nervous about what’s going to happen she keeps wiping her tears away and trying to brace herself, it’s her first time going to school alone. “What’s wrong Karl?” The teacher asked while looking at her name tag to see her name. “It’s my first time going to school without my mum teacher.” “Hahahahaha!!” Her boy classmate laughed at her teasingly, “you’re crying? Because your mum’s not coming with you inside our room? Hahahaha” ”Carl stop it! That’s not good teasing Karl.” ”She’s Karl and I’m Carl too?!” ”Yes! and that’s why you both should start falling in line properly, coz you both are going to be in front of the lines.” Karl in front of the girls's line and Carl for the boys, Karl is still sniffing because of crying while Carl is too mad to be in front of the line beside Karl. While heading to their room, all their hands on their backs, Carl bent himself a little and tapped Karl using his shoulder, “are you ok?” Nodding her head slowly and whispered “yes” to him, and then he smiled at her and continued to walk. “Girls and boys listen!” The teacher shouted, and the students went quiet. “We’ll start the class today by introducing ourselves, let me do it first.” “My name is Hera you can call me teacher Hera and I’ll be your teacher for the rest of the school year 2020-2021 and I hope you students will cooperate until we finish this school year.”

And so the all the students were having fun introducing their selves laughing, listening when someone is talking in front of them, they’re all enjoying the moment. But Karl is really nervous to do it especially that she’s really a shy kind of girl, “H.. H.. Hello everyone my name is Karl I.. I.. I’m 15 years old and I live in *cries*.

“What’s wrong Karl?” Everyone laughs and started to point at her she just kept on staring at the floor blankly while her tears dripping down the floor. “I’m next!!” someone shouted and everyone turn their head and shocked for his surprise introduction. Everyone looked at Carl but he’s unbothered, instead he winked at Karl and walks in front of the class and whispered to Karl “I got you” and then he introduced his self.

Karl was so confused why did Carl do that after his teasing personality during the morning ceremony, but she just let it be and sit down to her chair.

“Okay! Introducing of yourselves is done so we’ll start with our class for today.” The teacher said everyone was so excited, “hey!” Karl whispered to Carl who’s sitting beside her, Carl raised his eyebrows “hmm?” “That earlier?” “Ahh.. Yeah! I did that because..” “Because??” “Because you’re taking so long!” Karl was shocked with his reason why he saved her from that embarrassing moment, she just shrugged her shoulders and went back to studying.

Little did Karl know that Carl was hiding something from her. It’s home time, all the students were lined up to make a proper exit. Everyone was running and so excited to see their parents. “ Hello Mum!!” “Hello my love how’s school today?” Carl’s mum asked “it was fun and exciting and I learned a lot!” Carl answered while jumping around. “Hi baby, how are you after school?” Karl's mum asked “I’m fine mum.” Karl replied shortly. “heyyyy! Eol is that your daughter?” “Oh hey Marl! Yes she is my daughter Karl” “Wow is her name Karl too? This is a coincidence both of out kids have the same name.” Karl looked at Carl fiercely while crossing her arms she turned away from him pissed. “Hahaha this could be fun Eol our kids better be close to each other like how we both made friends with each other.” “Hahaha I know right, but it looks like they’re pissed with each other hahaha..” Karl's mum added.

The next day everyone is gathered at the quadrangle and the huge announcement was made by their principal “ Listen up students! We will be preparing once again for our yearly program which is the Field Demonstration your teachers will choose what Dance are you going to perform, Good luck students and have a great day ahead.” “What?! A dance?” Karl whispered to herself she is so worried hearing about it, she doesn’t really want to dance. Growing up as a shy type of girl she really never learn how to dance, instead she always play alone with her dolls and toys.

The bell will ring every 2 hours and each grade will be given a chance to practice for 2 hours. "Every one!" their teacher shouted and everyone lend their ears to her "Find your height please and stay still while I put you in your formations" Karl is the second to the line she's just quite there observing until she turned to her left and saw Carl looking at her she then raised her eyebrows and turn back to him. Carl laughed, "Okay everyone listen to me, you'll be dancing the cultural dance "Tinikling" and your partners are the ones beside you." Karl's mood turned from calm to very annoyed knowing she'll be having Carl as her partner with the dance Tinikling. Carl turned to her and laughed so hard and teased her " You're so lucky you got me as your partner HAHAHAHAHA!!"

“Lucky?! gosh! Hold yourself you’re being too proud!” “Okay everyone listen we only have two hours of practice so we need to make use of the time properly” everyone is already in their designated positions and the teacher started teaching them the steps and different formations for the dance. Karl was not used to dancing she keeps on tripping and making mistakes the teacher keeps on telling her to follow so that she won’t waste the time allocated for their class, because they will repeat the practice from the top when there is a mistake.

The practice goes on, Carl still teasing Karl with all her movements and mistakes while Karl always pissed with all the jokes Carl throws on her. From time to time the students have mastered all the steps with the dance also Karl even tho she doesn’t love dancing she started to love what she’s doing. Just few more weeks and the presentation will take place soon and everyone is preparing for their costumes and props to be use during the presentation.

Karl looked at Carl while he’s so busy helping her with their props, Carl looked up and said “What?!” Karl replied “Nothing!” and she looked away fast. Karl started to have a crush on Carl, but she just ignored it because she’s thinking maybe it’s just because they were both dancing together and helping each other with all the stuffs they need to fulfil. She just didn't make a big deal about it but everyday she always have reasons to fell for him, he's becoming more gentle to her as the days passed, he's helping her more, teaching her with the steps she doesn't know how to perform. Carl still tease Karl and that's what making her confuse because aside from all the good actions he still didn't change, he's still making lots of joke on her.

While practicing Karl decided maybe she could make jokes on Carl to take revenge from him, they are dancing they both held each other's arms "Uhmm, can I ask you something?" "What is it?" Carl replied. "Do you have a crush here in our class? or maybe in other class?, I'm just wondering.." "NO! I don't! why ask that kind of question?! I'm not into those things."

She then started to realise maybe all of his actions are just really normal and he's not into her "He's really not thinking about it" she thought. She the lost hope. She started to decide not to think about his response too much, and she divert her attention to other guys in their class.

"Why am I bothered with that question?" Carl thought. He's really into studying and doesn't care about what comes next as long as he fulfil his promise to his mother that he will study hard to find his Dad one day, because his father left them when he was too little and didn't had the chance to experience having a father.

Karl’s POV

He seemed to be so calm after I asked him that question, is his life really that focused to studies? He’s always reading books or doing something educational it’s boring right? Ugh! never mind, maybe he’s not the one *laughs*

Hey, Karl catch! “Ouch! that hurts why did you guys do that?!”

“Because you seemed to be drowning with your thoughts hahaha!”

“I.. I am?”

“Are you by chance having a crush on

him?“ *points on john* (one of the campus crush)

“What?, Wait. NO! I’m not”

“Hahaha then why are you seemed so stoked looking at him?” *points at kendrick*

"I'm not looking at him hahaha, you're making things up!"

"Come on he's not that bad and he's also looking at you now!! OH MY GOSHHHH!!" *shaking karl*

*Kendrick walk towards the girls with Karl behind them*

"Hi Kendrickkkk!"

"Hi Girls, how are you?"

"Uhmm we're fine, but now we're better with you in front of us." *giggles*

"well that's good to hear, but I'm here because I wanna know her." *points on Karl*

*the girls step aside*

"Uhm Hi, I'm Kendrick and you?"

"Uhmm.. Me? "

"Is there any other beautiful looking young lady here?" *coughs while putting both his palms inside his pants*

"Okay ahh.. I'm Karl nice meeting you Kendrick"

"NO! I'm expecting this won't be the only meeting for the two of us? I'll meet you again? tomorrow?" *points on her and walked away while looking at her*

"Wait! What?!"

"You heard me KARL!" *wink*

"gosh that's gross! ughhhh!"

Karl’s POV

This can' be happening, I can't see him especially that I know he is a complete player and he's not serious. I need to make an excuse, I should maybe skip school tomorrow? or maybe I should just act sick so that I can't come wherever he want me to come with him, or maybe he'll just forget it.

"Hey! hey!"

"uhmm yes? what?"

"you're stepping on my foot already"

*shakes her head* "uhmm I'm sorry Carl"

"are you okay?"

"uhmm.. Yes I am okay, why?"

'You seemed to be drowning with your thoughts"

"No, I'm fine I'm just tired, maybe from all the practice and studying late"

"Oh, Okay"

Why did he even care now? Karl thought. She's confuse, but still thinking of how to escape that playboy.

"Hi Karl...."

"Oh Hi Sheena, do you need something?"

"No, I just want to walk with you is that okay?

"Uhmm yeah it's okay it's just a bit weird, like you guys don't hang out with me that much tho hahaha"

"Oh You're so mean it's not like that, Okay let me get this straight are you and Kendrick dating?"

"What?! NO! we're not!" *pushes Sheena away*

"Come on, it's not like you can hide it forever right?"

“How many times do I have to te.”

“Heyyy!” *wraps his left arm on Karl’s neck*

“Oh hey Kendrick? Uhmm do you mind taking

your hands off me?”

“Uhmm guys?! I just want to ask, are you guys dating? Or whatever?”

“Uhhh YES! We are!” Kendrick answered.

“Oh my gosh! you lied to me Karl, I’ll go tell the girls” *walks out mad*

“NO! we’re not dating! Sheena come back!!come on Kendrick take it back and tell her the truth.”

“I’m not unless you kiss me” *pouting his lips*

“You’re insane, get out of my way!”

“HAHAHAHAHA”

Karl went off to their class room and was shocked with all the girls reaction when she came in, everyone is looking at her with their angry faces and whispering to each other. She just went to her seat quietly and tried to think how can she stop the rumour that Kendrick told Sheena earlier.

She's sitting quietly when someone approached her, it's Diane one member of the girl group who has a crush on Kendrick.

"Is it true?"

"oh gosh here it goes again" *rolls her eyes*

"Is that what you really think of me?"

"I'm just trying to check if the rumuors are true."

Knowing that Kendrick is Diane's first love, Karl started to explain to her what really happened and what Kendrick is in to. But Diane is still doubtful that leads Karl into harm.

"It's like this Diane, I'm really not into Kendrick and we both know that since day one and you already know I'm focusing with my studies, and why would I even have time to have fun with some player right?"

"I know, but the look on Kendrick's eyes looks so real and I know him since kindergarten and I know every move he makes even the tiniest thing. It looks so real Karl, and I'm scared because I still love him."

"I promise you Diane, there's nothing going on between us two and if there is which is not gonna happen obviously I will really tell you. I promise you that okay?"

"Okay I trust you Karl, thank you so much for explaining everything to me you're the best." *hugs Karl*

Karl's POV

This thing should end I really don't want to hurt anyone especially Diane the most kind hearted one on the girls group. But what if Kendrick is really telling the truth that he likes me? What should I do? Everyone knows that, that man is not the one who knows the word surrender. Gosh everything is a mess and I still have a lot going on ughhhhh... I'm really going to stop all this nonsense now or else I'll suffer after letting this one go on with his jokes. *rushes to see Kendrick*

"I'm really gonna show this man whos is he joking with"

*bump to someone*

"ouch!"

"Oh I'm sorry I'm so sorr.. Karl?"

"Oh Carl! Hi there, why are you here at the Seniors Corridor?"

"Uh.. Uhmm I was seeing uhmm.. Why do you even care?!"

"I'm just asking and why are you even mad?"

"Oh there you are my one and only little girl"

*both turned around*

"Little girl? do you really want to get yourself hurt Kendrick?"

"Hahaha come on there must be a reason why you went up here at the seniors floor right? we're you looking for me my dear?"

"so the rumours are true? you guys..?

"yes we are! is there a problem?"

"no, of course there's nothing wrong with it. Goodluck!" *walks away*

"Thanks man!"

"What do you thing you are doing?"

"I'm just helping you out spread the greatest news! that you are my girlfriend!"

"Shut up Kendrick! you really need to stop this nonsense."

"what nonsense? are you not proud that I the great Kendrick like someone like you?"

"NO! I'm not and it's not funny anymore you're making my life worst is that funny to you huh?"

"Okay give me what I asked you before and I'll stop" *crossed his arms*

"Okay! fine but this should end after I give you what you want!"

"Okay DEAL!"

*Karl closes her eyes and pouts her lips about to Kendrick*

*Kendrick kissed her*

"WOW! that's a good one! woooo...."

"Did you get it bro?"

"Yes bro we got it! looks like it's a good shot!"

"What did you do?!" *shocked*

"Just took our first photo kissing isn't it a good idea? to show our friends and classmates some proofs?"

"You lied to me Kendrick!! you said DEAL but you lied to me!!!!"

"HAHAHA it's either you accept me or I'll show this photo to everyone."

"You're the dumbest person I ever met!" *walks out*

"Thank you for the kiss Karl!! HAHAHA"

Carl's POV

I should've not told him that. For sure he'll start doing more of his thing to Karl, now I feel bad after getting her into more trouble. Well why am I caring to her like this? Do I like her? it can't be I can't like her I'm just trying to protect her because she's so weak and what's her power when it comes to that playboy? but still I should've not come there and talk to him about Karl he might think I like her and he'll pursue her even more which is the dangerous part.

7:00 AM at the High School Corridor

"I really can't do this Kendrick, why did you even choose me instead of other girls out there?"

"Because I like you! I like you Karl from the moment I saw you during the first day of school."
