Blood was everywhere.
Madeline kneeled down next to Maggie, who was clutching Jeremy’s body in her arms. Madeline could feel a thread of life left in him. It was weak, but he was hanging in there.
“Maggie, he’s not dead yet. But if you don’t let us help, he will be soon.”
Madeline lay him on the floor. She knew his physical body was gone. As a human, he was dead. Regret was what Madeline saw on Maggie’s face. She and Jeremy had unfinished business. There were things she wanted to say to him that she had never said.
