Ciaran brought Madeline inside the house. The temperature outside was inhospitable to the ordinary human body. But physical damage was the least of his worries.
Ciaran had his eudqi on when he fought with Ethan. The eudqi, even when not in use, gave him ultra-sharp senses. He'd seen the hybrid vampire drawing blood with lightning speed right after it killed Ethan. It had taken the body away to finish off its meal.
Having human eyes, Madeline probably had not seen as much detail. But at the very least, she would have seen Ethan being carried away by a supernatural creature. Ciaran knew that witnessing such a scene would be a traumatic experience for any human.
