Zen opened her mouth to speak, but nothing came out. She was completely and utterly stunned. Mrs. Patterson blinked as if she had also been in some kind of trance and dropped her eyes to Zen’s hair, which was still glowing. Zen followed her gaze and as she looked down she gasped, her hair only glowed when she was using her magic and she definitely hadn’t been. She would know, wouldn’t she? She looked up at Mrs. Patterson’s wide eyed expression and said. “I can explain.” “What is this? Some sort of new hair dye that… glows.” She said in a panicked voice. Zen tried to figure out what to say, but she couldn’t think. She felt numb and broken. Her heart was still bleeding from what she had learned about the little boy. She gave up, she could no longer keep a secret that clearly no one care
