CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT One of Adnan’s jinn was the first to fall. His eyes stared at Marcus in shock as the knife ripped in and out of his stomach. Blood spilled in an arc across the floor and the jinn had barely fallen to his knees when Marcus flipped toward another of Adnan’s g**g. I backed away. I knew what Marcus was capable of. I’d seen him in the dead jinn’s body the night before, decimating Adnan’s men. Visgaroth had co-opted my son’s spirit into a force for killing and it broke my heart. A jinn screamed as Marcus drove in the knife. He scissor-kicked another jinn that ran toward him, knocking the jinn to the floor. Adnan stood next to me, watching with rage. In a flash, his head bloomed into flames as the last of his men lay on the floor. They didn’t even know what hit them.
