CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE
Bo turned on the car and was getting ready to pull out when the passenger side rear door opened and Rowena jumped in.
“Get out,” I said, grabbing her wrist.
“But I want to come with you,” she said. “I can help you fight.”
“I don't need your help,” I said.
I pushed her out of the car and slammed the door.
“Go,” I told Bo.
Bo peeled off, and we left her in shock in the bright light of the burning building, hair disheveled.
She didn't think I'd do it. No, good old Lester had too much of a heart to leave someone all by themselves next to a burning building.
