Leah’s POV

“Yes, you are not.” I maintained a straight face but deep down it feels so good to know he was jealous.

“Asher, leave us.” He commanded with his alpha tone and Asher had no other choice but to leave.

“I will see you tomorrow Leah.” He whispered to me, “And don’t be rude to the alpha please,he is a nice person and I am sure he can also be of help.” I nodded and he took his leave.

“So Mr Alpha!!!” I used the hang signs, “Now you have succeeded in chasing away my visitor,what else do you want? He kept mute just looking at me which was creepy.

“Elijah, are you jealous?”

“Hell no, why will I be jealous? You are no longer mine so why will I be?”

“Then can you please stop bumping into my life and controlling my guest?”

“Well I have every right because this is my town.”

“Can you stop being ridiculous here? Your alpha tone doesn’t work on me so if you don’t have anything to say, can you please just get lost,I need to rest now.” I ended my conversation and walked to the kitchen to get a glass of water.

“Why do you look so happy that he is acting that way?” Cindy, my wolf sure knows how to get me angry.

“Enough Cindy, I am not happy but angry.”

“That’s a lie, we know it’s both, you are angry yet you are happy he is here,also you keep staring at his lips.”

“I wasn’t, you know what just stop talking and reason with me, why was he jealous? Is he trying to be selfish here? Like he doesn't want me and doesn’t want another to have me?”

“That's confusing but let's see how it goes,I also wonder why he is not leaving.” Cindy was also as confused as me.

“I was asked to give you this.” Elijah walked into my kitchen without my permission.

“Thank you but next time don’t walk into my kitchen like it’s your place.” I yelled.

“You are welcome, I will take my leave now and stop flirting around with guys.” He left with speed and I got filled with rage. How dare he tell me that to my face? Me!!!! A flirt??? I am going to kill that bastard for treating me this way…. I hit my hand angrily on the table and boom the kiss played in my head. Damn these useless feelings,I need to just go to bed and forget all about today,that’s what I am going to do.

The next morning,I got woken up by a knock and I sluggishly got to the door.

“Asher!!!”

“Hi Leah, did I wake you up?”

“I just woke up anyway,good morning,so what brings you to my place this early?”

“I brought breakfast for us, mind if I come in?” He asked with his cute smile and I nodded. I am beginning to be fond of Asher lately.He is so sweet and kind to me. He is also a great help to me compared to Elijah.

I allowed him to make use of the kitchen to dish out the breakfast while I returned to my room, to get ready to start my day.

I ended up wearing a free gown and packed my hair up. “I think our mate is so fond of us.”

“You think so too.” I smiled looking at the mirror and listening to my wolf.

“Yes, so are you going to give him a chance? He is our second chance mate, remember?”

“I do but I am not ready for that Cindy, I just want a life with you and my kids, that's enough for me, I can’t go through another heartbreak.”

“I understand your pain but we will need Asher.” I took a deep breath saying, “Let’s see what he got us for breakfast.”

I exited my room and walked into the dining room, I was taken aback by the dishes before me. The table was filled with an assortment of dishes,from fluffy pancakes to crispy bacon and even what looked like freshly baked pastries.

I couldn’t help but stare,my eyes wide with wonder, “Asher, are we having a feast?”

“Not at all, just breakfast.” He replied, still setting up the table and he walked to me bringing out the chair for me to sit.

“You mean all this….. for breakfast?” I sat down still surprised by everything.

Asher nodded, a warm smile spreading across his face, “From today,henceforth, I will be your chef.” He declared, his eyes twinkling with amusement, “And I want you to quickly recover,I no longer want you to stress yourself in the kitchen any more.” I felt a flutter in my chest at his words, touched by his thoughtfulness. Why is he so kind to me despite I told him I won’t accept him as my second chance mate.

“Here you go.” He passed me the pastries and I was back from my deep thought.

“Thank you so much Asher but you don’t need to worry yourself too much,you know I’m an adult and I can take good care of myself very well.” Cindy was angry with me based on the way I responded to him. I had no other choice,I don’t need a man to look after me now.

“Okay let’s strike a deal,I will look after you but once we find your kids then I will let you look after yourself since you are an adult.”

“Asher…I!!”

“Please Leah, don’t tell me no.” He touched my hands and I pitied him and just agreed.

“This is nice, you are such a good cook.” I commented after taking a bite.

“I’m glad you like my cooking,please eat more,I don’t want you to look thin anymore.” He sounded so caring and I smiled at him.

After breakfast I inquired from him what he had planned today then he said to me, “We are going to Alpha Elijah’s residence.”

“Why? I am not going.” I frowned with my hands folded.

“I understand if you don’t wish to go but I have to be there. No male is allowed to miss today's game, I wanted you to watch me and maybe cheer me but I guess I am not getting that.”

He appeared sad to me and I walked to him saying, “Okay fine, I will go with you but can you throw more light about the game?” That’s it, his excitement came back like a baby that has been giving a lot of sweets.

According to what he said to me, it’s a tradition in Red Moon Pack that all eligible male werewolves will come together for a game which include the shifting, running,combat and more,after which the winners will be rewarded and to crown it all, a feast will take place and that midnight,a lot will also be lucky to meet their mate since it’s going to be a full moon today. I guess I could use the opportunity to ask questions about the missing kids.

I entered his car and we were on our way to Elijah’s home. I just hope I don’t end up seeing him often throughout my time there. A lot of beautiful buildings appear on the way. It seems the last time I came here, I didn’t take note because I was in a hurry to meet with the alpha for help then. The street looks busy and not as calm as the last time. I could hear the sound of beating drums, I guess the game meant a lot to them.

We finally entered the mansion after Asher showed him a pass that had the wolf drawing.

The beta walked to Asher, “I am glad you are here Asher, your attention is needed.”

“Okay beta Louis, I will join you.” He replied to him and the beta wave at me before leaving.

“I am sorry,I never knew my presence would be needed at once,you know you can come with me.”

“Don’t worry, I am not a kid that will get missing, go do your duty,I will feel my eyes while waiting for you or you can just sniff me out.” I looked at his fingers, “Since you are not wearing a ring today.”

He smiled and hugged me, “Thanks for understanding and also you will love everything here.” He left and I took a walk admiring the whole place. I felt so sad seeing a couple coming in with their kids. I touched my stomach with tears in my eyes.I miss my kids so much,I wonder how they are fairing, I hope they are not hurting them.

I didn’t know I already took a walk while I was lost in my thoughts,but where am I? Why does this place look so deserted?

“This place is creepy,we need to get out of here now, I sense danger coming.” Cindy warned.

“But I don’t know the way out.” I heard a loud roar that terrorised my mind. “Who is there?” I walked slowly to where the noise was coming from and picked up a stick from the ground for self defense.

I opened the door and found traces of blood on the ground, don’t tell me a monster lives in here.

“I am not afraid of you, show yourself.” I tightened my grip on the stick, sweat of fear already covered my entire skin and my legs trembling because the growling never stopped. I saw a lot of blood packs both used and unused. I know werewolves don’t drink blood but vampires do, but do we have vampires here in this part of the world? Vampires and werewolves are like sworn enemies.

The noise stopped and trying to open the next door, I heard his voice, “Leah, you shouldn’t be down here.”

“Elijah?”

“Leave now,I don’t want to hurt you.”He warned and he was creepy.

“Do you think you can boss me around? You are mistaken.” I was scared as hell but I acted tough.

“I SAID LEAVE!!!” He roared at me. His tone that was calm a second ago became filled with terror and there was something off about Elijah, his eyes were dead cold with strange dark veins at the edges, those weren’t werewolves eyes, he was a different person.

“NOW!!!” He yelled again and my legs were numb, my heart beating fast and I got struck with a panic attack when he placed his claws around my neck like he was going to feed on me. “Eli….Eli..” I couldn't say his name properly, running short on breath, so I passed out.
