Daimon was watching the duels on stage with interest. When he heard me, he paused slightly before asking me with a raised eyebrow, “Miss Anna, did you just say that you want to challenge me to a duel?”
“Yes, Sir. If you insist on saying that the Colley Combat Arts is useless, then I respectfully ask for an opportunity to a duel.” I gave him a bowed salute, a ritual only used by dueling warriors before they fight on the stage.
Daimon raised his eyebrows and smiled a little. “Well then, I’ll fight you with one hand so that others won’t accuse me of bullying you.”
“No need.” I frowned slightly. Lyra also expressed her displeasure at Daimon for such a slight.
Daimon was unfazed, and put one hand behind his back. “Anna, please begin.”
I took a deep breath and completely awakened Lyra’s power. I knew the importance of this fight. It was not the usual scuffle between an instructor and a trainee. I had to find a way to knock Daimon down in order to change his mind about the Colley Combat Arts.
When Daimon hooked his finger at me condescendingly, I rushed straight up and stomped my foot to launch myself forward, brought up my knee, and gave him a blow to the thigh. It was quickly followed by a combination of right elbow jabs and left hooks.
Daimon was hit repeatedly by my set of combined attacks. He had to utilize both his arms to block my blows as he obviously did not expect me to come up with such a rapid attack. However, he continued the fight and became more serious in the duel.
I attacked Daimon at my own pace, with a combination of the Colley Combat Arts which I lived and breathed for so many years. Initially, Daimon was able to rely on his physical strength and agility to counter my attacks.
Soon after, he was unable to defend himself against my attacks with the moves he had only used in combat. Overwhelmed by my combination of blows, Daimon was forced to retreat. I attacked him repeatedly until he was backed into a corner.
Finally, the helpless Daimon roared bitterly, tore off his shirt, and turned into a giant black wolf. He then pounced straight at me. I did not dodge and gave a punch to his jaws before handing over my body to Lyra.
Lyra, who was more experienced than me, was clearly stronger than me in a one-on-one real-world werewolf battle. Lyra, who was just a small white wolf, began to chase a giant black wolf around the field and snapped at him with her sharp fangs and claws.
Daimon and his wolf realized Lyra and my plan to exhaust him since the Colley Pack had superior endurance. We wanted to exhaust Daimon and then attack him with a final blow.
Daimon, who saw through our plan, did the opposite. He turned around and tried to bite me with his long and big mouth. I dodged repeatedly and timed my counterattack perfectly and managed to bite down on the back of his neck.
His warm Alpha blood oozed into my mouth and he immediately stopped struggling.
“Anna. Had enough fun?” Daimon’s voice was a little shaky probably because he felt my jaws clamping down on his neck.
I contemplated biting all the way through his neck but then decided to let go. “Alpha Daimon, please accept my apologies. I got carried away.”
Daimon was still slightly shaky after he stood up and looked at me awkwardly. “It’s okay. We’re dueling after all. I was the one who underestimated your fighting abilities and the Colley Combat Arts.”
“I apologize for my previous disrespect. I wonder if you can continue to teach the Colley Combat Arts to everyone in the future. Honestly, I’m also looking forward to the day when I learn it from you.”
I was still panting from the fight and said, “Then I’ll thank Chief Daimon for giving me the opportunity to become an instructor again.”
Naturally, I did not take his words seriously about learning the Colley Combat Arts from me.
Lyra: Anna dear, did you notice Daimon’s gaze?
I thought about the look in Daimon’s eyes when he left just now and nodded.
Me: It was a bit strange. But it must be because he didn’t expect me to be so strong, right?
After all, it was quite humiliating for the leader of a Pack to be challenged by a captive and fight a near-failed draw with a scrawny-looking Beta captive on a dueling table.
Lyra: I don’t think it’s that simple, Anna, I think he’s looking at you fondly.
Me frowning: Lyra, don’t talk nonsense. There is no time to think about these affairs. I just want to train better warriors so that everyone can follow Alpha Wayne to reclaim the Colley Pack’s honor and former glory.
Lyra remained silent but she still sensed that Daimon looked very different. Wasn’t he just like his cold-blooded and ruthless wolf who could kill the innocent indiscriminately? How come I detected a strange mildness in Daimon’s thoughts?
The next day, I returned to the training ground once again as an instructor. However, to everyone’s surprise, Chief Daimon, also stood with the trainees, ready to learn from me.

Daimon’s Point of View:
I did not think that taking advantage of the battle between the Colley Pack and the Red Moon Pack would become too much of a problem. Furthermore, I made sure that they were treated reasonably well as captives since they were a well-behaved bunch.
I did not take seriously Anna, who lauded the prowess of the Colley Combat Arts. In my opinion, swift victory based on ruthlessness was more important than any combat artform in a werewolf battle.
Sure enough, those young wolf cubs who used the Colley Combat Arts were beaten by our clan. Even Anna was beaten by one of my mediocre Beta fighters.
The unimpressive duel caused me to give up completely the idea of using Colley’s Combat Arts to improve my clan’s fighting abilities. Anna’s position as an instructor was also revoked by me. Without her interference, the weak Colley Pack wolves became stronger and more ruthless under my training. These were the warriors that I wanted at the frontlines of my battles.
To my surprise, Anna would be infuriated by my repeated insults and requested a duel with me. What I did not expect was she was able to pin me down and bite me on the neck after she unleashed a series of Colley Combat moves that I could not counter.
While she gnawed at my neck it was my wolf, Doz, who remained calm.
Doz: Daimon, my brother, I think I just smelled your mate.
Me: How could that be!? Doz, this is a prisoner! A woman of the Colley Pack!
I could not sense what Doz was referring to. I just felt like she was about to snap my neck if she bit down hard enough.
After Anna released her bite. Doz emphasized to me with unparalleled certainty.
Doz: Brother, I don’t know exactly how you feel about her, but I will say that I definitely felt it just now. She is our mate! There is a very powerful induction and attraction between me and her wolf. This is something only a mate designated by the Goddess can give me that kind of feeling!
I almost choked with anger at what Doz said. However, he reminded me that when Anna bit my neck, I did smell a sweet fragrance on her body. It was like the fragrance of flowers that I remembered from my childhood days. I was almost captivated.
Could this be the smell of my own mate? I was not sure but I know that every Alpha of our Tarlow Pack, no matter how many lovers they had before, ended up having to spend the rest of their lives with their mate in order to become a more powerful werewolf chief.
For our clan, the biggest shackle could also become our biggest help, if my mate could bring us the bloodline awakening. If I was unable to find my mate and gained the Moon Goddess’ recognition before I turned thirty, then I would never be the strongest Alpha werewolf.
Due to Doz’s certainty and what I smelled in her, I decided to attend Anna’s lessons after I reinstated her status as an instructor.
I really did not want to believe Doz’s words but as my wolf, he would never take the matter of finding our mate lightly. I wanted to know if Anna was my mate, but I would not let her know about it too early. Just as when I hid the reason from her why I agreed to help the Colley Pack fight against the Red Moon Pack. All I was interested in doing was to subjugate the Colley Pack at the right time.
