Chapter 23

Jax's point of view.

I throw my little Vampire Queen over my shoulder, much to the delight of our audience; she lets a surprised gasp before she reaches down to grab my ass.

The little Minx.

I love this carefree side of her; she is no longer the same broken woman she used to be, that's for sure.

We head off into my bedroom, and I throw her into the middle of the bed, where she lands with a giggle.

We spend the night making love, a craving for each other that I can not even begin to describe. Ysabella is insatiable, but I think a lot of it is down to her emotions running high.

She's been so worried for me, and then she stood tall and faced the King, f**k, was that hot.

I keep my promise. I don't want to sound big-headed or anything, but I definitely make her breathless many times.

By the time we are finished, though, she's not the only one breathless. I pull her into

my arms afraid of letting her go as tomorrow we will make the trek back to the high witch, and the thought of it terrifies me.

I've only just found Ysabella, but she is my soulmate and the thought of losing her.

God, I can't even go there. It terrifies me.

I watch her as she falls asleep; she seems so unfazed by it all. That first night when she was with the King, I thought that she was weak, but she's far from being weak. She is the strongest, bravest person I know. Everything that she's lived through has made her stronger; others would have given in, but not my little Ysabella. She's a fighter.

I finally fall asleep as those thoughts run through my head.

She's a fighter, and she will fight to get back to me….

When I wake up in the morning, Ysabella is still fast asleep, and my fears are just as bad as they were the night before.

I kiss the top of her head before sliding out of bed so I can get some blood from the medical room; I come back and hook it up.

Smiling as I look at her still sleeping, it amazes me what she sleeps through.

I head out into the kitchen; Bear is up and making a start on the breakfasts for everyone; I leave him to it and head into the tech room. I need to get an update from all of the other team's.

Every team made it back. There have been some losses, but considering what we were up against, we came off surprisingly well.

I finally get to speak to Stan and the guys at the Crypt; it looks as though they spent the night celebrating; who can blame them, though. We took down the Vampires.

I head back into the living area to give everyone an update; the cheers echo around the large room as the celebrations begin.

I smile as I watch, but I can not find it within myself to celebrate, we have to visit the high Witch of Eden forest first, and we have no idea what the outcome of that visit will be.

The King has been kept under lock and key, whilst in pure silver chains, with two guards in him at all times.

Where he's concerned, you can never be too careful.

I check on him, laughing as he sneers at me, telling me how he's going to kill me and make Ysabella drink my blood. Little does he know it's his blood that's about to be sacrificed.

Bear and his team will be going with us to the Eden forest, and Darius and his pack will lead us to the high witches.

At least now the Vampires have been taken. We can head to the forest boundary in the jeeps, and we don't have to hike the whole way.

Once Ysabella is up and dressed, we pile into the jeeps before heading off back to Eden forest; I stay with Ysabella whilst Bear travels with the King.

Ysabella is quiet on the journey there. I think the nerves finally catch up with her; I hold her tight, partly to treasure her and partly because I just can't bear to let her go.

I'm trying my best to be strong for her, but on the inside, I'm petrified. I've been around the world on many dangerous missions, but nothing in my life has ever frightened me as much as this. I've never loved anyone in my life before, not the way that I love Ysabella and the fear of the unknown when it's someone you love is soul-destroying.

We finally reach the outskirts of the forest, where we abandon the jeeps; before heading the rest of the way on foot, Bear drags the King along. I smile as I see the fear in his face. It's obvious that he's heard of the mighty high witch Ophelia and her magical powers.

Darius and his pack soon find us as they lead us deep into the heart of the forest and into the witches' lair.

The King grumbles the whole way, he tries to pull away from Bear, but there's no way the big guy is going to let that happen.

We finally reach the clearing; Ophelia is already waiting for us; she smiles when she sees us, welcoming us into her home. Ysabella and I follow her inside as the witch tells us what we need to do.

"Tonight, we will take you to the Eden Stone Ysabella, where the Eden Witches will offer the King to the moon goddess as we ask her to release you from the blood spell. We will then offer the King's blood to the forest; I must warn you though no spell is ever guaranteed, and there will be risks for both you and the King.I need to know that you understand and that you're willing to take that risk Ysabella."

Isabella nods her head as she whispers.

"Yes, I understand, and yes, I wish to take that risk."

I look up as I ask her.

"Are you sure this is what you want baby, I can keep you alive? I promise you will never have to kill or drink blood again, baby."

She takes my hand in hers as she says.

"I want my life back, Jax; this is not living, this is existing. I'm so grateful to you and everything that you have done for me, but if there's the slightest chance of turning human again, I have to try; I hope you understand, Jax."

I nod my head as I whisper.

"I do, baby."

She smiles as she says.

"I love you so much, Jax; you are a very special man."

Ophelia clears her throat as she says.

"We need to head to the Eden stone; we will offer the sacrifice at midnight under the full moon."

Shit…..we're really going to do this….
