The Vampire Queen’s Pet

Chapter 24

Jax’s point of view.

The high witch Ophelia leads us to a large clearing in the forest, where a large flat stone sits at the centre. I hold Ysabella’s hand tight. I'm feeling sick with nerves. God only knows how she’s feeling.

I whisper in her ear.

“You make sure you come back to me Ysabella, I need you.”

Before I bring her chin to mine as I kiss her precious lips, wiping away the tears in her eyes as she whispers back.

I will, Jax, I promise you."

Ophelia walks her over to the stone; before helping Ysabella to lie down, she places a silver star on her chest as she whispers.

"This is the magical Eden Stone. The moon Goddess will show her face soon.”

As the moon appears in the gap in the trees, the star begins to light up with the reflection of the moon.

The witches form a circle around us as the moon begins to darken Ophelia, and the rest of the Eden Witches form a circle around Ysabella. The witches chant inside the inner circle, Ysabella Closes her eyes as Darius and his pack of wolves in the outer circle begin to howl.

As I look up to the sky, I see a pure white woman glowing in the moonlight; she looks at Ysabella lying on the table with a smile before she turns to Ophelia and asks.

“Why have you brought me a sacrifice Highest Witch.”

Ophelia shakes her head, looking up to the moon goddess as she says.

“The young Vampire is an offering in exchange for a sacrifice; she has lived her life as a vampire forced to change.”

The moon goddess places her hand over Ysabella's heart as she says.

“She is a good spirit who forced her to change.”

Darius walks into the inner circle with the Vampire King; his eyes go wide when he sees the moon goddess as he sobs.

“I’m sorry, Goddess, please let me go; I will never change another human again.”

The Moon Goddess turns her head to look at him as she asks.

“Why did you change her?”

King Areon looks to the floor as I call out.

“Because he wanted her for himself, He wanted her on his arm because she's so pretty, The Vampire King needed a beautiful wife, so her kidnapped her when she was just a child, He killed her father in front of her, forced himself upon her, forced her to marry him and turned her into a vampire.”

The Moon Goddess nods her head; I'm sure I see a tear in her eye as she places her hand back above Ysabella's heart. She turns back to Ophelia as she says.

“You have your wish, highest Witch. Bring me the sacrifice.”

King Areon, lets out a scream.

“Nooooooooo” As Darius drags him into the inner circle before tying him to a stake that appears magically from the ground.

The moon goddess turns her attention to him, reaching out her hand and placing it over his heart, before ripping open his shirt.

With one finger, she draws a line down his chest above his heart, and I watch in awe as the blood trickles down his chest. He grins as he looks at her.

“You can't kill me; I'm a Vampire.”

The Moon Goddess smiles as she replies.

“I am the one who created all, you made this girl suffer, and now you must reverse her curse.”

The blood begins to flow quicker, pooling on the floor around the King’s feet before being swallowed by the ground.

The wind begins to howl around the circle as the Vampire King begins to turn dark, his pale skin losing the glow, until his head drops as he takes his last breath.

Ysabella is still lying deathly still; I feel my heart drop, nothing is happening, and I turn to the witches as they still chant, and I cry out.

"It isn't working."

Ophelia smiles as she says.

"Look up to the moon Jax."

I look up and gasp as I see a swirl of purple light dancing above us as Ysabella’s body is pulled up from the stone, her body turning as the light swirls around her body before it slowly lowers back down onto the stone.

If I wasn't so frightened I would think that it's the most beautiful sight I've ever seen.

Ysabella’s skin colour changes, she loses the pale white Vampire skin, as it turns a beautiful pink skin colour.

The Moon Goddess smiles before she disappears, and the high witch Opeila turns to me and says.

“It is done, the curse has been reversed. You must take her home and let her rest now, Jax, before you guide her back to you.”

I raise my eyebrows as I ask.

“What do you mean?”

Ophelia smiles as she says.

“A spell of this magnitude takes a toll on our bodies; she needs rest, she needs you to guide her back, you are very deeply in love with this woman. I can feel it. She needs that love to get back to you.”

The Witches disappear into the forest, as Darius says.

“Will you carry your woman, or do you want me to? It's a long trek out of the forest."

I jump up as Darius chuckles.

“No, I'm Good; I've got her,” I say as I gently pick her up and carry her in my arms, Bear stays at my side as Darius and his pack leads us from the Eden forest. He leaves us at the outer edge of the forest before we make our way to the jeeps.

Bear opens the back door for me, and I place Ysabella inside before jumping in next to her and pulling her onto my knee as Bear jumps into the driver's seat, and he starts the engine as he says.

“That was insane.”

I nod my head too full of emotion to answer. All I can think about is the beautiful woman sleeping in my arms, praying that she wakes up.

It doesn't take long to reach the bunker, Bear jumps out to open the door as I carry Ysabella in my arms; the path to the front of the bunker is lined with the guys from my teams, each one bowing their head as a mark of respect when we walk past.

Every one of these guys has taken to Ysabella these last few weeks. We all need her to get through this.

She has to survive, she promised.
