Chapter 27

Jax's point of view.

As I pull the car up outside the Crypt; Stan walks over to the side of the car.

"It's good to see you, Buddy."

He says before pulling me into a hug.

"It's good to see you too Stan, thanks for looking after this place for me."

I say as I look at the Crypt before walking around the car to open the door for Ysabella; her eyes are on Dylan as I reach in to take her hand as I whisper.

"Come on, Ysabella, he will understand."

She nods her head as she takes hold of my hand before climbing out of the car; I introduce her to Stan, as Dylan stays in the doorway.

"Stan, this is Ysabella."

"Ysabella, this is my best friend and right-hand man here at the Crypt."

I say; Stan pulls her into a big hug as he says.

"So this is the lady who's stolen Jax's heart; it's good to finally meet you, Ysabella. Although I've heard so much about you off Jax, I feel as though I already know you."

"Ysabella giggles as she replies.

" It's good to finally meet you, Stan."

She pulls away from Stan as she turns her head to look at Dylan, still standing in the doorway. He looks at Ysabella before turning away and walking inside the Crypt. Ysabella's eyes fill with tears. I pull her into my arms as I whisper to her.

"Don't worry, baby; he'll come round when he understands why you did what you had to do."

I wipe away her tears as she whispers.

"He's just a child, Jax, and I almost killed him."

It breaks me to see just how much this hurts her as I reply.

"You did what you had to do to keep him alive, Ysabella if you hadn't, then Areon would have killed him himself."

She nods her head

"I know, but it doesn't make it any easier."

I take her hand in mine as I say.

"Come on, let me show you around the place."

It's only midday so the place is pretty empty, apart from a couple of lads training.

I introduce her to the ones who are there as we walk around the place; she is surprised at how big the place is. The last time she was here, she only saw the main arena.

I also go into the story of how I started this place and how it saved me just as much as I saved the kids.

She smiles up at me with those beautiful clear blue eyes as she says.

"You're a good man Jax."

I kiss her lips as I reply.

"And you're a good woman Ysabella, no matter what you may think. You've done what you had to do to survive."

Her eyes linger on Dylan, watching us in the distance as she says.

"If only others thought the same."

I half-smile, as I say.

"Let me have a word with him; he's a clever kid he will understand."

I walk her over to Stan, who's drinking a cup of coffee as his eyes scan over some paperwork.

"Can you keep Ysabella company whilst I have a word with Dylan?"

Stan nods his head as he says.

"It will be my pleasure."

I kiss her lips again before grabbing a couple of pairs of gloves. I walk over to Dylan, his eyes still on Ysabella as I throw the gloves at his chest, leaving him no other option but to catch them as I say.

"Come on, Kid, let's see if Stan's shown you any moves."

He grins as he follows me into the training room, making me chuckle; he really does remind me of my younger self.

I help him with his gloves before we both climb into the ring. After a bit of sparring, I feel the tension leaving him and I look at him as I say.

"Come on then, say it, tell me what's on your mind?"

He raises his eyebrows, and his face darkens as he says.

"Why did you have to bring her here?"

He hits me hard as he says it.

"Because she has nowhere else to go, Dylan and I Want her with me."

I reply honestly.

"Why." He says as he throws another punch.

"Because I love her, and I want to be with her."

I say as I block him.

"She tried to kill me, Jax. She left me for dead." He says.

I hit him back, he's ready with a block, and I say.

"She drank your blood to save your life, Dylan, and if she hadn't had done it, then she knew the king would have killed you. He forced her to do it. She had no choice but what she did after is the reason why you are still alive."

"What do you mean?"

He asks as he throws another punch; the little s**t has me impressed as he actually connects with my jaw.

"She drank your blood, but kept you alive when the King thought you were dead, then she had her staff bring you here hoping that I would find you and keep you alive."

I take a shot at him as he sidetracks as I say.

"She's not the monster that you think she is, Dylan. The King kidnapped her when she was just a child, killing her father and taking her away from her mother. He forced himself on her when she was barely sixteen, and he forced her to marry him before turning her against her will. He changed her into a Vampire, A vampire that could never kill. Blood makes her physically sick. For god sake, Dylan, I had to hunt animals and drain their blood just to keep her alive. She's been kept under lock and key for the past forty years with King Areon forcing her to do unimaginable things."

Dylan looks to the floor.

"She did what she had to do to survive, and she did what she had to do to keep you alive."

He nods his head, looking at me with tears in his eyes as he says.

"What if the next time she won't be able to stop and she does kill someone, then what?"

I chuckle as I say.

"She's not a Vampire anymore Son, the high Witch cast a spell, she's a human once again, and I want her to be my wife. She is the kindest, funniest person I know, and when you get to know her, you will love her too."

He shrugged his shoulders as he whispers.

"Jury's out on that one."

I chuckle as I imagine myself in the same situation. This is still the woman who drank his blood, almost killing him. The fact that he's still standing here having this conversation with me just shows me how mature he is. I smile as I say.

"All I ask is that you get to know her; you can make your own mind up from there."

He grins, striking me hard. When he knew I wasn't ready, I stumble backwards slightly with a chuckle as he says.

"Okay, but no promises."

I pull him into my arms. For a twelve-year-old boy, he is much wiser than his age. This is why I love this kid.
