“You are remarkably strong,” he muttered to the little greenery. “We’ll survive this thing together, huh?” He smiled at the shrub, now sparkling from the water it’d received. Really, the whole property was beautiful. Anthony loved it. He didn’t choose to live here because it was cheap and rundown, he chose this place because of the flowers and the trees. The unguarded hoses just made for a plus. He didn’t have the space for a garden, so this one had always been a substitute. He loved it, all the same, and hated how much time he’d missed caring for it. “Don’t you worry,” he said to the shrub, “we’ll get everything back on track in no time. I can already hear the doctors telling me to quit, but we know one thing about Mister Crawford, don’t we?” Anthony laughed, rolling his eyes to himself
