Chapter Six

674 Words
Mirabel found herself immersed in a pool of contemplation, her mind swimming in the depths of Rachel's words and the potential layers of meaning hidden within 'what we are.' As she sat in silence, the weight of those words pressed upon her, urging her to seek clarity amidst the ambiguity. "What could they be?" she murmured to herself, her voice barely audible in the stillness of the room. With determination fueling her every step, she rose from her seat and made her way out, her mind fixated on uncovering the truth that lingered in the air like an unspoken secret. Navigating through the corridors of the house, Mirabel's footsteps echoed softly against the polished floors, each stride a testament to her resolve. Finally, she reached the threshold of Valenthia's room, its imposing presence looming before her like a fortress guarding untold secrets. The door, adorned with intricate carvings and embellished with gold accents, stood as a barrier between her and the answers she sought. Summoning every ounce of courage within her, Mirabel attempted to eavesdrop, her ear pressed against the sturdy wood, desperate to catch even the faintest whisper of conversation. However, her clandestine mission was short-lived, as the sound of approaching footsteps shattered the silence, heralding the arrival of her best friend and an unexpected companion. Caught in the act, Mirabel's heart raced as she turned to face them, her attempt at stealth unraveling before her eyes. With a forced smile, she tried to mask her intentions, feigning nonchalance as she pretended to admire the decor. "I know that look, girl. You're not fooling me," Ruth remarked, her keen gaze piercing through Mirabel's facade. "I don't know what you're talking about. I'm just admiring the scenery," Mirabel replied, her voice tinged with an uneasy edge as she brushed past Ruth and her companion. Yet, as she made her way past them, a sudden surge of curiosity compelled her to turn back, her eyes narrowing as she scrutinized the young man standing beside her best friend. "Who are you, and what are you doing with my best friend?" she demanded, her voice betraying a hint of apprehension. In that moment, amidst the tension that hung in the air, Mirabel knew that she was on the brink of insanity because why in the name of all things good would she be interrogating a total stranger aside from the fact that the woman in question is indeed her bestfriend. "The names Eden, I live here at the Aguileras", he replied extending a hand to greet her. Mirabel looked at his hand first then into his eye and immediately felt she trust him, she to extended her had and shook his hand. "I see everyone but Rajah and princess fiesty are happy to see guests, what's their deal?", she dared to pry. Eden chuckled but gave no response and just brushed it off, "that's not something to worry about right now, let me show you around". As the gentleman that he is he led the way into their first attraction at the mansion, the spectacular of a garden, designed by no other than Valenthia herself. Mirabel thought she had been seeing things when she saw a figure of some sort lurking at a distance, as she looked up to Eden to tell him what she just saw he was already looking like he sensed it and froze for second analizing the place. "You see what I see, don't you?", she insisted. He looked at her finally and told her, "Whatever it was it's gone now, probably some kind of animal. It's not knew around her, shall we?", knowing he was not truthful to her he changed the topic and pointed out a few things in the garden. They always get spied so he so he saw no point in alarming anyone just yet, he did send a message through to another who lived in the mansion just so he could on stand by and pass the word around and inform the higher ups being Valenthia and Rajah.
