I found her after 48 hours of searching. Rena stood in the doorway of her hotel room looking at me with confusion. But when she saw the expression in my face, it seemed she had realised that I had found out.
"You were not the one who saved me," I said, stating it as fact rather than question. "In the mountains all those years ago. That was not you."
She held my gaze for a long moment, then stepped back to let me into the room. I entered slowly as my bruised ribs protested with every movement.
