Episode 1: Different Dreams
The city of San Aurelia never truly slept. Its glass towers shimmered beneath the evening sky, reflecting thousands of lights that sparkled like stars brought down to earth. To many people, it was a city of dreams where ambition could become reality. But dreams Ariana Cruz had learned came with a price. Ariana stood by the floor-to-ceiling window of her luxury apartment, looking out at the skyline she had helped create. Several of the city's most famous buildings bore her signature designs. Her name appeared in magazines. Universities invited her to speak. Young architects admired her work. Yet when she unlocked her apartment door every night, silence greeted her. No laughter. No conversations. No one was waiting for her. Just empty rooms. Her phone buzzed. Bianca: Dinner tonight. Don't be late. Ariana smiled faintly and grabbed her coat. An hour later, she sat in an elegant restaurant with her two closest friends. Bianca Reyes arrived straight from the hospital, still wearing her white coat. "You look exhausted," Chloe Santos said. Bianca laughed tiredly. "I performed two surgeries today and spent three hours convincing a scared little girl she'd be okay." "Did it work?" Ariana asked. "She smiled before going into the operating room." "Then it worked." The three women exchanged warm smiles. To the world, they seemed to have everything. Bianca was one of the most respected young surgeons in the country. Chloe had built a technology company worth millions before turning thirty. Ariana was already considered an architectural genius. Yet beneath success, something felt missing. Chloe stared at her untouched dessert. "Do you ever feel like you've won the race but don't know why you're running anymore?" Bianca raised an eyebrow. "That's oddly philosophical." "I'm serious." Chloe sighed. "I have houses, cars, investments, private vacations. But every time I accomplish something, I go home and celebrate alone." Ariana nodded. "I know exactly what you mean." Bianca looked away. "I spent all day helping children." "And?" Chloe asked gently. Bianca's voice softened. "I keep wondering what it would feel like to have one of my own." Silence settled over the table. The noise of the restaurant seemed distant. Ariana finally spoke. "Maybe we're chasing the wrong dreams." Across town, in a quiet neighborhood lined with small houses and flowering gardens, three other women sat together beneath a covered porch. Miriam Garcia rubbed her tired eyes. The day had been endless. She had spent the morning preparing breakfast, the afternoon helping her youngest son with homework, and the evening cleaning the house. "I love my children," she said. Linda Ramos nodded. "We know." "But sometimes..." Miriam hesitated. "Sometimes I wonder what happened to the girl who wanted to become a teacher." Teresa Flores smiled sadly. "She's still there." Linda laughed. "Somewhere beneath the laundry and dishes." The women shared a knowing look. Years ago, they had been dreamers. Miriam had imagined herself standing in front of a classroom. Linda had sketched beautiful clothing designs in notebooks. Teresa had planned an entire business selling handmade crafts. Then life happened. Marriage. Children. Responsibilities. Their dreams slowly became memories. "I saw a fashion show on television yesterday," Linda admitted. "And?" "For a moment, I imagined my designs on that runway." Teresa squeezed her friend's hand. "You would've been amazing." "What about you?" Miriam asked Teresa. Teresa smiled wistfully. "I still look at empty storefronts and wonder what my shop would've looked like." The women fell quiet. Inside their homes were loving families. Children who needed them. Husbands who cared for them. Yet part of them longed for a different life. A life filled with freedom. Achievement. Possibilities. Later that night, the city grew still. On opposite sides of San Aurelia, six women gazed up at the same sky. Ariana stood on her apartment balcony. Bianca sat beside her bedroom window. Chloe relaxed on the rooftop terrace of her penthouse. Across town, Miriam, Linda, and Teresa sat outside beneath the stars. None of them knew the others existed. Yet their hearts carried the same longing. Ariana closed her eyes. "I wish I could have a family." Bianca whispered, "I wish I knew what it felt like to be a mother." Chloe looked toward the stars. "I wish I had people to share my life with." At that exact moment— Miriam sighed. "I wish I could have chased my dreams." Linda clasped her hands. "I wish I knew what it felt like to be successful." Teresa smiled at the night sky. "I wish I could live their life." A sudden wind swept through the city. The air seemed to shimmer. Then a brilliant silver light streaked across the heavens. A shooting star. But it was unlike any star they had ever seen. Its tail glowed with colors that shouldn't exist—silver, gold, violet, and deep sapphire. For a moment, the entire sky sparkled. All six women stared upward. A strange warmth spread through their bodies. The star paused in the sky as though listening. Then it vanished. The night became quiet again. None of them noticed the faint glowing symbol that appeared for an instant above their heads before fading away. None of them realized that their wishes had been heard. And none of them knew that when morning arrived, their lives would never be the same again.©️🌠
