"Mia, what's wrong? You're scaring me," Leo said as he pulls over the car.
"Mia, look at me," he puts a hand on my shoulder. This caused me to jump as more memories flood in. I turned to look at him, a few tears run down my cheek.
"Aww, Mia." Leo said, sadness filling his eyes. He wiped my tears away. I bet I look like a hot mess but that's the least of my worries.
"Okay, I'm going to bring you home. We are only a few minutes away, okay?" he asked softly.
I nodded, as I felt a few more stray tears slip down my cheek.
A few minutes later we arrived at my house. He parked the car in the driveway. "Do you want me to go in with you?"
I nodded again.
"Okay, let's go." He got out and made his way to my side. He opened the door, crouched down, and unbuckled my seatbelt.
"Mia, is it okay if I lift you up to bring you in?" he asked.
I nodded, sniffling. He picked me up and carried me in bridal style into the house. He set me down on the couch next to him, and I laid my head in his chest. As I thought about everything, tears came streaming out. I was shaking. I was scared. Leo put his arms aroung for support.
"Shh, Mia. Shh. I've got you now. Shh, you'll be okay. I promise. I'm going to call Ryan."
He dialed Ryan's number and put it on speaker. While he waited for Ryan to pick up, he wiped my tears.
"Hey Leo." I barely hear Ryan over the loud noises from the party.
"Hey Ryan, I think you should get over to your house. I think Mia needs you." He said as he looked down at me.
"Oh s**t, I'm coming. What happened?" He said as it sounded like he started running. I heard him ask Logan to drive.
"I'm not sure. I think she saw something on the drive over," Leo said.
"What's she doing?" Ryan asked.
"She's shaking and crying," Leo replies, as he rubs my arm to calm me down. He wiped away more tears, which are probably full of mascara.
"f**k, I'm almost there. Faster Logan, see you Leo," Ryan said as he hung up.
"Hey Mia, you heard, he is almost here. Shh, I've got you. Shh." He whispered.
My crying slowed as I felt safe and comfortable in his arms, and I quickly fell into a deep sleep.
~*~*~
"Hey Mia, you're awake." I heard Leo say. I opened my eyes and realized I was still rested on Leo's chest. The events slowly came back to me. I felt my eyes getting watery again. I sat up and saw a worried looking Ryan on one chair, and an angry looking Logan on another.
"Mia," Ryan came over and sat down by me. He slung his arm over my shoulder, as I cried some more.
"Mia, tell me what happened." He said with a stern voice
"It's him," I say quietly.
"Who?"
"Mason," I managed to choke out.
"Is he back?" he asked. I could feel him getting angry.
I nodded.
"How do you know?"
"I saw him in a car passing us." I say in between whimpers.
"Are you sure it's him?"
"100 percent sure."
"f*****g s**t!" Ryan shouted as he stood up. I fell back on Leo, as he put an arm around me.
Logan stood up, "Who's Mason?"
Ryan looked at me, and I nodded. "He was her boyfriend sophomore year. They were together for a few good weeks then it got bad. He started to get rough with her. She said it was never more than harsh yelling, or a few shoves. They went to a party, and he took her to a bedroom. Someone told me, and when I got there it was too late. The door was locked and barricaded. I heard her screaming. God," Ryan said as his eyes teared up.
"After about 20 minutes, me and some guys got the door open. Mia was crying in a corner with one window open. There was a note on the floor. Mason escaped, and the note said that his 'work here wasn't done'. So that's the douche that's back." Ryan finished as he collapsed onto a chair and ran his hand through his hair.
"I'm gonna f*****g kill this guy." Logan said before coming by me. He kneeled down and kissed my forehead. "Oh Mia. I'm so damn sorry." He lifted me off of Leo and carried me to his own chair, where I laid on his lap. "You are so strong, beautiful. So strong." He said as he kissed my head.
I looked over at Leo. He seemed to be lost in thought, I saw a few tears running down his face, but he quickly wiped them. He stood up, "Why didn't I know about this? Wasn't I at the party?"
"Yeah, I gathered only the only seniors to help get the door open. I didn't want it to be a big deal and embarrass Mia." Ryan said as he looked over at me. He gave me a small sad smile.
"And now he's back." Leo said as he began pacing. "Dammit."
"I'm gonna take Mia upstairs to bed, she is very sleepy." Logan said.
"Okay, we'll figure this out for you Mia. Don't worry." Ryan said.
"Goodnight Mia, see you in the morning. Leo smiled. I smiled back at him before Logan took me up.
"Okay. There you go." Logan said as he placed me in my bed. "Goodnight Mia. I'm going to go figure this out downstairs."
With that he quickly left and went downstairs. I felt tears come to my eyes as I sat up in the dark room. I looked around and I didn't feel alone. I didn't feel safe. I started to silently cry before I heard shouts from downstairs.
"You left her alone?" Ryan yelled.
"I wanted to figure out how to get rid of this guy!" Logan shouted back.
"She is scared! Leo go up there, we will fill you in tomorrow." Ryan grumbled.
I heard footsteps coming up quickly. Then I heard two knocks before Leo opened the door and came in.
"Hey Mia. Aww, don't cry." He said once he heard my silent whimpers. He sat on my bed next to me. "Shh, Mia. Shh," he comforted. Leo scooted closer to me and wrapped an arm around my shoulders. My cries grew less, and all you could hear were my shaky breaths. He moved further on the bed, so I could rest on top of his chest. His arms were still on my side, rubbing it to help soothe me.
"Goodnight Mia." he said as he kissed the top of my head.
"Goodnight Leo," I whispered as I fell into a deep sleep.
