I touched the gem of my engagement ring and stared at it for a minute. A vibrant scarlet marvel, sparkled with a warmth that spoke of true love and passion. Bullshit. My eyes looked at the door when it suddenly swung open and a man wearing a business suit entered. “Hey there, hon” I met his eyes and forced a sweet smile. His tailored suit perfectly accentuated every curve and contour of his muscular frame, creating a refined look that was both stylish and sophisticated. His sharp features and dashing good looks commanded your attention, and his bright smile had you hooked, as if you were a fish and he was the hook. He was the epitome of masculine charm, a gentleman who could have stepped right out of a classic novel “Aries” I couldn’t help but smell a vanilla scent in him as he leaned to kiss my forehead, a typical purfume of a woman. My eyes landed in his collar and again, I saw a lipstick taint. I took my eyes off of his collar and met his eyes. “You’re going out?” He asked after looking at me from head to toe. “Yes, dad invited me to dinner saying he has some important matters to discuss. ” He smiled and nodded. “Alright, be careful, okay?” “You won’t even offer to drive me there or accompany me? ” His smile faded and sigh. “As much as I want to honey but I can’t, I’m so tired, I just came from a business meeting, I will ask the driver to drive you there. ” I forced myself not to lose my smile. “Hmm, alright, the clock is ticking, I gotta go. ” He smiled and nodded before grabbing my waist and kissing my head. “Love you, take care” “Love you too” Funny how he claims to love me yet he never fails to do things that will hurt me. I opened the windshield as soon as I felt the car moving. The night is cold, the air is refreshing. I looked at my phone when it suddenly rang and sigh when I saw my secretary’s name. “Lily, today is my day off, I’ll handle everything once I’m back. ” “I’m sorry attorney but this one is urgent” “Lady Scarlet we’re here” I feel the car stop and the driver get out of the car before opening the door for me. ” “I’m busy at the moment, I will call you later. ” I turned my phone off and put it inside my pouch before getting out of the car. I used the elevator and let my father’s guard open the door for me and inside I saw my father sitting at the table, next to him is a witch. Father’s eyes landed on me and smiled sweetly. “Darling, you’re finally here, come, sit down” The woman beside him motioned to the seat next to her telling me to sit down but I just stood there, looking at them. “What’s she doing here? I thought we’re discussing some family matters here” I said, emphasizing the word “family”, I saw how dad’s smile disappeared. “Scarlet she’s already my wife, she’s part of the family, enough of that, have a seat, we ordered your favorites–” “No need, let’s get to the point so I can get out of this suffocating room, I don’t wanna sit with you and destroy each of our nights. ” “Scarlet honey—” I glared at Trisha, my father’s new wife. “Don’t say my name with your filthy mouth.” “Scarlet, enough! But—” “Just leave. ” She stood up and glared at me before walking straight to the door and slammed it but I just smirked. I walked towards the table and sat in front of him. “So, what is it? ” “Why do you always treat her that way? ” “You treated my mother worse, what’s the big deal? ” “Scarlet—” “Straight to the point dad. ” He sighs deeply before talking. “Well, your relationship with Aries just got deeper and stronger” I give him a confused look. “What do you mean? ” “From now on, he will help us manage the company and he will be part of our business” “W-What? Dad, what are you talking about?” “I signed the contract, I gave him the full permission to manage our company and gave him our shares. ” I stood up from my seat out of shock. “But isn’t it according to our agreement that you will only sign the contract once we’re married?! ” “Yes but who cares? You two are already engaged for two years and you’re obviously in love with each other, plus, I trust him, within his care I’m sure our company will flourish more” I looked at him unbelievably. “Dad, how stupid can you be?! ” I was taken aback when he slammed the table. “You shall not talk to your father that way! ” “What?! As I reached outside I took the car key from my driver and drove the car, I should go get some air. Haa, I can’t believe he would do that, yes, Aries and I claimed to be in love but I’m not a fool. I unlocked my door and got out of the car, ready to confront whoever the hell it is. “Whoever you are, get out of your car! ” I knocked it’s window and stepped back when the door opened and there I saw a man full of tattoos who looked like a mob. I gulped and stepped back a little more but something hard hit my back, I turned around and it’s not something but someone. I was about to say something when something hard hit my head making me wince in pain and kneel down and I felt someone holding both of my hands. “Let go of me! Let go of me!” I tried to fight back but they put a handkerchief in my mouth and nose. My head starts to get dizzy and my whole body went numb until everything went black.
