Bonds That Tie Us Together

I knew that Alpha Steven wasn't going to make this an easy race to win. It's clear that he has turned this into a competition, one brother must ascend and become the Alpha, the terms have been set and the price is steep.

“ Father… What are you saying?” Corbin asked.

“ I am saying that you both get an equal shot at this, now that you're married and your brother has someone, it's time for some future heirs,” Alpha Steven said with a smile.

I looked at Corbin's face, he looked pale, he was as white as a ghost. Though we have been married for three years, Corbin and I have talked about children once, and he told me that he wasn't ready to be a father, that we should wait a few more years before having a child.

“ To make sure that the line continues, the first one to give me a grandchild will be named heir,” Alpha Steven said.

“ Father! You can't be serious,” Corbin said.

“ You're both capable young men, this shouldn't be too hard to achieve,” The Alpha said.

“ I don't know about that father, I mean Corbin has been married for what? Three years now? Are you sure he is really capable?” Zane said, looking at me, as if he was asking me the question.

Three years ago, I found out that Zane was my fated mate, he was the one I was destined to be with, but my heart was yearning for Corbin, so I rejected our mating bond and married Corbin instead.

After seeing the look on his face when I rejected him, I couldn't bear to hear what his response was. Like a coward, I ran away. The following day, Zane left the country.

After he left, my wolf Lila kept on bothering me. I might have rejected Zane, but she never rejected Zane's wolf Black Claw. My human heart wanted Corbin and yet my wolf wanted Zane.

So tonight, when we danced, when I released pheromones and kissed him, that was our mating bond pulling us together, an undeniable invisible thread that ties us together for eternity.

“ This is not the time for that, it's time for dinner and both of you will behave yourselves!” Alpha Steven said.

I looked at Zane, trying to figure out what game he was playing, or was what happened earlier just a case of mistaken identity?

His face was hard to read, if anything, I couldn't even tell if he was happy, sad or angry. I have never seen anyone with a poker face like Zane before.

Corbin didn't argue, he held my arm as we made our way to the table, all the while, I could feel Zane's eyes on me. Refusing to meet his gaze, I went to the table to take a seat.

Corbin pulled out a chair but Zane sat on it. He was deliberately trying to provoke Corbin. I grabbed his hand and shook my head, telling him not to react. There was already too many eyes on us after the announcement.

With that, he went to the other side of the table and sat next to the woman that came with Zane. As the dinner began, we all ate silently with the big elephant in the room. Who's this Omega that came with Zane.

I took a glass of wine and drank it all. When I reached for the bottle, Zane reached for it, our hands touched, I felt another spark going through us. I quickly pulled my hand.

“ Please allow me…” he said and poured the wine for me. He handed me the glass of wine gazing into my eyes, worst part, I couldn't pull my eyes away from his either.

“Brother… quite the surprise you pulled. I didn't think you would come back home after all this time, especially with a lovely lady like your companion here,” Corbin said to Zane suddenly and pulled me out of my daze.

Embarrassed, I drank the wine. This time I held the empty glass in my hand.

“ I take it that father didn't tell you that I was coming? And I thought you knew everything,” Zane said with a cold tone, which only made the sarcasm sound even more worse than it was.

Looking at him right now, Zane has changed a lot. Not just his appearance, but the way he is right now, he is more bolder, he commands attention and he is confident with a cold demeanor.

“ Boys. This is our first dinner not just as a pack but a family in a long time. Let's not scare Selene off,” Alpha Steven said.

Just then, without even thinking, my eyes went to Selene. She seemed nice, but Lila didn't like her. In fact, I was having a mental conversation with her, calming her down.

I remembered the one thing my wolf doesn't like, alcohol. Lila never bothers me when I am drinking.Without even thinking, I poured myself another drink and drank it.

I was already tipsy, I shouldn't even be having this glass of wine, but it has been an eventful night, I needed it. Still, I could feel the wine working on me.

Still, Lila wasn't quiet like I had hoped, she kept on bother ok me about Zane. The more she bothered me, the more I drank. It was after my fourth glass that I realized that I was already drunk.

“ Are you okay?” Zane asked me, his hand was on my lap. His single touch set my body on fire, I was afraid that Lila would release her luring pheromones again, so I quickly stood up.

“ Please excuse me, I need some fresh air,” I said with a smile and grabbed my purse on the table.

I wanted to get as far from Zane as I possibly could. This was the best thing to do for all of us. I am married to Corbin, I can't be feeling things like that with Zane.

I walked to the rails of the boat, taking in the cold sea breeze. I was trying to calm Lila down. I have never known my wolf to be like this. No-one told me that having a mating-bond with someone was this intense.

Refusing to accept what was, I took a bottle of wine from one of the waiters passing. I didn't even take a glass, I drank trying to forget what I felt when I kissed Zane. Trying to forget how my body responds to his touch.

Halfway through the bottle, I was already drunk and Lila wasn't bothering me anymore. I decided to retire to my cabin.

It was after taking my third step that I realized that I was drunk, I missed a step and fell on my back, it didn't hurt much, I laughed at myself as I made my way down the rest of the stairs.

Walking to the cabin, I kept on stumbling, I can't remember the last time I was that intoxicated. I stood in front of the cabin and searched for the key in my purse, accidentally dropping my purse, I went down to retrieve it, only to lose my balance when I rose up.

Nearly tumbling backwards, I felt a pair of strong hands holding me up.

“ Careful…” Zane said and turned me around, only for me to fall on his chest, causing him to stumble back and fall on his back, breaking my fall with his body as he held me in place.

My body was resting on top of his, my breasts laid on his hard chest, I felt his heartbeat, it matched mine, my whole body tensed as I felt goose bumps all over my body.

In my mind, I felt Lila releasing her pheromones, a mating call for fated-mates. If our connection is strong, his wolf will sense it, and he will smell it. It was like I was in heat. I felt myself sweating, I was releasing pheromones involuntarily like an Omega.

The need for his touch was intoxicating, I felt Black Claw in my mind, he had accepted the invitation, with that, I felt something hard on poking me below my pelvic area, it took only but a second to realize what it was, Zane had an erection. A second one tonight. If I can feel it, so can he.

I opened my eyes and tried to get up, but my hands failed me. I tried again but kept on falling on top of Zane. I looked up and saw the look in his eyes. It was a look filled with desire and lust. We are fated mates, our bodies call out to each other.

His pheromones filled the air, his eyes glowed. I felt like an Omega in heat, he was an Alpha who I was literally born for. Most people with our compatibility are unable to control themselves. I'm surprised that he hasn't taken off my clothes yet, that he hasn't held me up against the walls yet.

“ If you keep moving like that I won't be able to stop myself from f*****g you senseless,” he said to me.

He was crude, and yet, his words only fueled my desire, his smell filled the air, mixed with mine, it was like an intoxicating drug. Lila wanted us together, my body was betraying me.

Tears filled my eyes. Drunk as I was, horny as I was, I didn't want to cheat on my husband.

Zane took a deep breath and with one move, he brought me to my feet, my hands were now on his chest. I looked up and met his gaze, his eyes were still glowing, he was also sweating, with every second that went by, we moved closer to each other.

Just as our lips were about to touch, I suddenly saw Corbin's face in my mind. Panic seeped in, I pushed him away, quickly opened the door and locked it behind me.

“ What's wrong with me?” I muttered under my breath.
