( Cruise Ship) Elara's POV Every year Alpha Stevens holds a week- long banquet to celebrate Christmas. This has become a tradition for the Blackthorn pack. The only difference this year, he decided to pack everyone into one ship. He decided to hold the banquet on his cruise ship, this is our first night here and as tradition goes, there's going to be a masquerade ball. I was still getting ready in my cabin when Corbin came in, he saw me standing next to the mirror and stood behind me, he gently kissed my neck and put his arms around me. I closed my eyes and basked in his embrace. We haven't been able to spend time together like we used to. Alpha Steven's health is failing and so Corbin and I have had to take on more responsibility. On top of that, we had to make sure that this Christmas celebration goes off without a hitch. “ You smell so good,” he said and kissed my neck again. When I looked at his reflection in the mirror, I saw his eyes glowing, a hazel glow just before he closed them quickly. Our marriage is not like how it is with other werewolves. Though Corbin is the one my heart chose to love, we haven't been able to imprint on each other. Though we are lovers, our hearts and destiny's are not in sync with each other. I often wonder if things would have been easier if I were an Omega, because at least then I wouldn't have to worry about mating-bonds. When an Alpha is with an Omega and their compatibility is over fifty perfect, they can imprint on each other. Omegas can imprint with anyone, while we Alphas are fated to imprint only with our fated mates. No matter how compatible Corbin and I are, we will never have an unbreakable bond of imprinting on each other. Still, I love him more than anyone could imagine. For Corbin it's different, he has already imprinted on me, that is why his eyes change when I make him horny. “ Are you ready for tonight?” I asked him. He took a deep sigh then moved a step back, he held the zipper of my dress and zipped it up. “ I don't know if I'm ready, even if I wasn't, there's not much I can do about it right now,” he said to me. Though he didn't show it, I know that he was nervous. If Zane shows up tonight, then the rumors might be true, that Alpha Steven might announce him as the next heir. “ You'll be fine. It has been three years. Everyone can see how hard you have worked to prove yourself. Even if Zane comes back, I don't think your father would overlook you for him,” I said to him. I turned around and put my arms around his waist and laid my head on his chest. Not having a mating-bond with Corbin has never troubled me as much as it did then. Because only then would I understand what he was truly feeling. “ Yes, my father has always been fair,” he said in a low voice and kissed my forehead. “ I'll be in the banquet hall, see you in a bit,” he said and left. A few minutes later, I made my way to the banquet hall. I arrived just in time for the first dance. I was hoping to duck behind the busy chaos to run away from the dance. I love my husband but he is a terrible dancer. Just as I was about to hide behind the row of ladies when Marina pulled me into the crowd, right at the front row. Even though she had a mask on, I could tell that it was her from the scent of her Omega pheromones. “ Good you're here… I thought you weren't coming,” she whispered to me. “ I wouldn't miss it for the world,” I said with a smile, lying through my teeth. “ Shhhh, the dance is about to start,” Lydia said just as the music began to play. All the ladies turned their backs. The first dance was always the Tango, a dance for lovers, so it was couple's only. A few seconds after the music began, I felt a cold shiver running down my spine, goosebumps all over my body and Lila restless in my mind. Then, I felt Corbin's hand on my waist as he stood behind me, with a feeling I've never felt before, it was like a spark of electrical energy passed through me. With another hand, he gently traced his fingers from my shoulders to my hand. With that, he set my body on fire, I swallowed hard, trying to focus on the song so that I don't miss my cue. The lights in the room dimmed, I took a deep breath, that was my cue. He let go of my waist and turned me around. I landed on his hard chest, which seemed to be a little bigger and tighter than I remembered. The dance began and my husband blew me off my feet. It was like everyone else in the room had disappeared. When he spun me around, held my waist as his other hand lifted my other leg, his touch lingered, it was sensual and alluring. As the dance progressed, I couldn't even hear the music, he was leading the dance and I was led by my feelings. Our dance was sexy, perfect in every way, especially since I felt like making love to him right there. The more he touched, the more I wanted him. For the first time in my life, Lila released pheromones involuntarily, not just any pheromones, but luring pheromones. I am an Alpha, this only happens to Omegas. Still, it felt good to be in his arms. I wondered if Corbin had been secretly taking dancing lessons, because he was effortless, he matched my sync perfectly, so much so that it was just natural. The last part of the dance came, I ended up in his arms, my lips on his and his hand on my thigh, lifting it up, slightly touching his groin area, I felt something hard poking at me, I knew what it was. He let go with a smile. Corbin was acting strange. The onlookers clapped hands and the lights switched back on. “ Excellent! That was absolutely excellent!” Alpha Steven said through the microphone. Everyone turned to where he was and bowed their heads. He must have arrived while we were still dancing, that's why I didn't see him. “ Everyone, as you were,” he said. We all lifted our heads to look at him and almost had a heart attack when I saw Corbin standing next to him. He couldn't have teleported from here to there in the last five seconds. If Corbin is up there, then who the hell was I dancing with? Who did I kiss? I turned to look at who I was dancing with but he had already disappeared. “ Zane? Where are you?” Alpha Steven asked through the microphone. “ Zane?” I whispered in disbelief. “ I'm here Father…” Zane said as he walked up to Alpha Steven with a woman on his arm. A woman who had a shattering resemblance to me. If I didn't know better, I would say that we were sisters. I had so many questions running through my mind. What was he doing here? Why would he bring someone who looks like me here? Did he bring her because she looks like me? Was he doing this because of what happened three years ago? Everyone was shocked that he was there, they also didn't miss the slight details about the woman he was with, but I was the one in panic when I saw the mask he had on. Then it suddenly hit me. The man I was dancing with was Zane not Corbin, and what I was feeling was our mating bond, was mortified that I had just kissed my husband's brother. “ Elara, come join us. I have an announcement to make,” Alpha Steven called me up. “ Yes father…” I said and walked up to the podium. Corbin helped me to get up the stairs with a smile on his face while Zane kept his gaze firmly on me. All the while, I was freaking out on the inside. Trying to ignore his burning gaze in my mind, I smiled and laid my head on Corbin's shoulder to avoid him and looked to the crowd. We all knew what Alpha Steven was going to announce, everyone was waiting anxiously. “ Now you all know that I am not getting any younger. This might be the last Christmas celebration I will be hosting as your Alpha. To protect the future of the pack and the Black’s bloodline, whoever amongst my sons is the first to bear a child, will be the next Alpha of the Blackthorn pack and the heir to the Black's Dynasty,”
