Chapter 9

Vanessa was a bit confused and at the same time intrigued by what Lyca just said. She watched the two companions within the old vintage elevator carefully until she heard a ding sound as the elevator stopped.

“After you.” Joanna said with a gentle woman gesture which made Vanessa’s head shook in disbelief but did what she’s being told to even there some some giggles coming from Lyca behind her.

As Vanessa kept walking ahead of her two companions, she noticed that it was a modern industrial hallway that was since she noticed the old exposed brick on the wall which was blending to the black steel full size glass window that was acting as a divider. As she pass and took a peak from the doorless room, Vanessa’s eyes began to widen which made her body moved on it own and be amazed on how high tech the facility was since it was totally clear white, grey, black and some other pastel color just to keep it lightened and feel like neutral. It was also giving a clean and neat vibe even there were tons of cubicles with personnel who seemed like dealing with their own selected jobs.

“What do you think?” Lyca asked as she stood next to Vanessa who was still in her amazement since she could see the entire working place from the third floor where they’re at.

“Feels like I’m in the movie.” Vanessa said in her amazed tone while her eyes were still glued on her new surroundings.

“Oh, the MIB movie?” Lyca reassured what she just thought of what Vanessa’s telling them. Vanessa just nodded.

“Never gets old.” Joanna chuckled before walking down the steel staircase which made the both of them follow.

“This place is the HQ. Everyone here has their own department on one floor but they also have different shifts.” Joanna said as they passed through the working space of each department. Some people who were there were just studying the cases that they’ve been handling while some were doing their reports or just waiting for the time to be on the field. Meaning some of them were just chilling around their shifts though it doesn’t mean that they were not doing their jobs.

“If you noticed that there were only a few people who were present here because some of them have night shift, day off or in vacation but mostly they were on the field checking the entire town.” Lyca butted in since Vanessa also noticed that there were only a few people in their cubicles or their stations.

“Or doing their cases.” Joanna continued as they went closer to the very huge screen by the end of the cubicles which Vanessa noticed that it was a map.

“That’s our map of the whole town. Those green dots were the medical team on the field while the blue ones were the inspectors or our own police that were always scattered around the town. They were the one who’s reporting us.” Joanna explained the colors that appeared on the screen as she studied what's going to one of their inspectors.

“Check, Inspector Silent there was something wrong.” Joanna suddenly said to the security personnel who’s watching the screens and incoming reports from their inspectors.

“So, they were the eyes and ears of the HQ.” Vanessa guessed while staring at the screen which Joanna pointed to the security team.

“Yes. you’ve guessed it right. Those red broken lines around the dots were the creatures we have to keep on watch.” Lyca agreed proudly at Vanessa’s guess.

“As for the white dots, that was the elite forces. They were always standing by on their designated post until the blue dots sent a report to them.” Joanna turned to them and continued explaining to Vanessa the remaining dots on the screen

“Now, let’s go and meet our other partner which I hope you two get along with since the four of us were the new elite forces.” Lyca excitedly clapped her hands which caught Vanessa’s attention since her eyes were totally glued on watching every dots do their work as well the security team.

“Wait, we have to send her first to the boss before she meets her. Remember her registration.” Joanna reminded her partner Lyca about a very important thing they have to do.

“Oh right. Let’s get going.” Lyca wrapped her arms around Vanessa’s left arm before dragging her along toward a certain black steel door. Vanessa studied the door since it was a steel door like what a volt has.

“Don’t worry. He lives here in the HQ that’s why it's very secure and he’s our department Elite boss. He’s the one who immediately approved your application.” Joanna explained before Lyca bragged inside the office s***h room of their boss.

Vanessa was very frightened to what Lyca just did since she didn’t knock but just opened the door, walked inside while dragging her like she owned the place before sitting on the loveseat couch just across the black study table.

“Always bragging inside my office room and you even dragged our newbie with you, Lyca.” Old and raspy voice echoed throughout the entire room in which Vanessa looked where it was coming from until Joanna nudged her side before pointing at the frost glass divider. As her eyes followed the index finger of Joanna, she saw an old man in his 50’s with a rod. She also noticed that this man was badly injured for him to limp as he took a step toward them.

“Oh c’mon, Daddy. You’re already used to it. Plus, Mommy said that you also did that when you guys were still on the job and you always caught her in the dressing room. Seriously, you’re just being a p*****t over Mommy back then.” Lyca sarcastically and teased their boss while just smiling as he sighed before sitting by his study table.

“Indeed I am but I’m also sure you’re not here just to discuss that Lyc. I know you guys are here for Vanessa's application and here’s your identity in the HQ.” He immediately got serious as he lent a file over to Vanessa along with her badge.

“I’m the Elite Boss in the Elite department and my name is Sir Leon Maldeva. I know you’re wondering why you already recieved your badge and identity in DIP. You’re godfather and uncle was my partner in the Regal Police Department. But as I met my wife I had to change headquarters and be with her since she’s my mate or should I say my other half.” Their boss Sir Leon started on explaining which made Vanessa read the file carefully while listening.

“As you can read on the file, that’s your new self in HQ.” He continued while watching carefully the reaction of Vanessa which he found amusing since she doesn't easily show any emotions regarding the things that’s happening around her.

Vanessa kept checking her badge since noticed that her name was different though her face that was attached along with her was definitely hers.

“Is this real?” Vanessa wanted to be sure since her name was still the same and her surname was her mother’s maiden name.

“Yes and I think it matches yours.” Sir Leon assured with a knowing smile like he knew that it was her mother’s maiden name and he’s not saying it since they weren’t alone in the room.

“Why do I have a code Drack and my rank status is SS-Blood?” Vanessa was confused which made Lyca and Joanna look shocked at what she just said.

“It sounded like Dracula because of how to pronoun it and the blood thingy.” Vanessa continued as she looked worried over the reactions of her two companions sitting next to her.

“You’ll understand why you have that code and rank. Now, off you go. You need to rest since I also received that you went into a surgery.” Sir Leon answered indirectly and confusingly but Vanessa let it slide for now since she’s feeling a little tired from thinking.

As they excused themselves from the office, Lyca once again dragged Vanessa to her arms toward their training facilities that were exclusive for the elite members only since they do have much more intense training than the others. In their training facilities there were lockers by the entrance hall; shower areas were located on the right side corner of the lockers for the ladies and for the men was at the left side corner; and the gym was full of all training exercises. All of them were in one place but passing through that certain facility or room, there was a very huge white-gray training ground that already had a few scratches on each wall but nothing severe happened yet. Seeing that, Vanessa’s eyes seemed to glow in such excitement over the things that she was seeing but something suddenly hit her eyes and her head began to ache again.

“Not again.” Vanessa mumbled underneath her breath as she immediately took her prescription and took a pill before swallowing it. Just within a few minutes the aching was no more and went back on looking around the facility.
