Vanessa went through all check-ups that she had within the morning with the help of the assigned nurse. Before lunch, she came back to her room and she immediately took a rest from the tiring check-ups that her doctor asked her to take.
“Do you need anything?” Vanessa’s nurse asked her which made her think of what she wanted aside from a water and some energy bar.
“Can I have an early lunch? I’m already starving.” Vanessa asked her nurse who just chuckled before looking at the watch.
“Your lunch will be here in a few.” her nurse told her while the smile never left its lips.
“Great. Thank you for taking me to my check-ups.” Vanessa returned the smile with a little nod.
“It's nothing, your doctor personally asked me plus, it's my job as well.” her nurse said to her before heading back to the door and the wheelchair that they used earlier.
“Still, thank you.” Vanessa told her gratitude toward her nurse.
“Okay then. Just rest and wait for your lunch.” Her nurse advised her which made her nod.
“Okay, thank you again.” She said while smiling glad at her.
“Your welcome.” her nurse said before leaving her on her own inside the room.
When Vanessa was all by herself and settling her body on the bed to rest for a while since at exactly 9:50 in the morning, her assigned nurse came. She was taken to do some MRI examination at exactly ten, due to her concussion and heart since her rib cage bone almost hit her heart because of the incident. Then, she was taken to have some break before heading to CT scan since her rib cage was being fractured that also caused some internal bleeding while they were doing the surgery. After that, she was taken to the therapy session just to talk to the therapists that were assigned to check on her before taking some sample runs about the session. Then, she was taken back to her room ten minutes before twelve. She might be a little tired from it but it was for her health since her doctor wanted to make sure that she was totally healed before being discharged from the hospital. Now, Vanessa was waiting for her lunch while resting and listening to some random music on her stereo. As her body felt some little rest already, here comes her lunch. The lunch might not be the best lunch she ever had but it was her health anyway.
“What should I do?” Vanessa asked herself since she was just waiting for her doctor to come back to explain to her the results of her test that she took earlier.
Vanessa looked around the room and found nothing to do which made her ask her nurse to get her some bond papers and a pen with some books to read as well. Just a few minutes later, her nurse came back with her request since she was totally getting bored while waiting. As she was alone in her room and only her stereo kept playing randomly in her background, she finally decided to do some sketches which she’s not good at but fair enough to make it decent art. She drew a silhouette of a lady which was partially looking to her side while holding its left arm. Then along the silhouette of the dress of the lady, there's a howling wolf overlapping the full moon with some flying bats which seems like forming the lady’s dress. Vanessa didn’t know or even had a clue on why she did that but somewhere within her heart she likes it - her heart loves it like she knew who that lady was. But she didn’t dwell at it much then she just stopped doodling and just read some magazines.
Her whole day seems like nothing different, the same old cycle of sketching, reading, watching and listening to the stereo or talking to whoever came on visiting her till it was night time.
Vanessa decided to get up from her bed and went closer to the window to watch the night lights of the Regal City. Everything seems like it used to be. Busy people even at night doing whatever job they took for them to survive life. She just watched on how busy the streets are and before she was one of those busy people from day to night since her work almost 24-7 job. She couldn’t complain since she loved what she did. She loves being on the field and she misses them.
“I wonder...what or how does the elite team from the DIP of Vicente Hill work?” Vanessa asked herself when she felt someone was watching her from the outside of the hospital.
She was trying to locate where it was coming from and she was curious when she noticed a shadow of a lady standing underneath the static light of a lamppost that was facing her room. Vanessa felt some heat forming once again all over her body and through her left eye. She wanted to see who it was but the static light of the lamppost made it hard for her to see until her eyes decided to blink since it was hurting her. But when she looked at the same spot, there was no one standing there anymore.
“That was weird...I am seeing things again…” Vanessa mumbled to herself though she knew somewhere within her that she’s indeed seeing things and she was changing every time she tried to understand some things that she never felt or seen before.
As Vaness released a heavy sigh and closed her curtains, there was a knock on her door and her heart began to feel excited like it knew who was standing behind that door.
“Good evening, Miss Santos - I mean, Vanessa.” Marian said as she entered the room with a file on her hand.
“Finally, you came. I’ve been wanting to hear those results.” Vanessa chuckled as she went to take a sit on her couch this time. She was tired of lying on the bed that’s why.
“Excited, I see...I hope you’re not exhausting yourself by walking around here all by yourself.” Marian commented which made Vanessa feel a little shy and just scratched the back of her head before looking at her doctor who’s smiling genuinely at her.
“I’m tired of lying on the bed with nothing much to do. My brain cells were going numb. I want to solve crimes already.” Vanessa playfully whined at her doctor who just laughed at her kid behavior.
“Itching to work. Not so good…” Marian chuckled before looking at Vanessa’s test results.
“What do you mean? I’m still stuck here? No…” She whined again which made Marian giggled and Vanessa loved to hear them - a lot.
“Oh that’s not what I’m trying to say. Your results were indeed impressive for some reason…” Marian started while smiling at her amused.
“Should I be worried about how impressive it was?” Vanessa asked with a little sarcasm.
“Actually, no. Your healing capability was indeed impressive. The test of your CT scan was good and the rib cage was indeed healed and there’s no more internal bleeding. Your MRI was totally cleared as well.” Marian chuckled as she explained how impressive Vanessa’s test results were.
“No concussion anymore?” Vanessa curiously since that was the thing really bugging her. It would hurt her from some time and it was totally painful and she hates to feel those again.
“Yes, but I still have to give you medication just in case it triggers again. Once it happens, I hope you’ll contact me, so I could advise what pain reliever or how many dosage you should take. Also, I would like you to make a mandatory monthly check-up for your work’s clinic. I would like to monitor your health since you recovered just within a couple of months. Just precaution.” Marian honestly told her which she understood clearly.
“Sure. you’ll be my personal doctor then.” Vanessa jokingly said though there’s a hint of truth in them.
“Then you should pay my doctor’s fee.” Marian said before winking at her.
“Can my job cover that?” Vanessa asked as she pouted like a kid.
“Funny but no. If you want personal consultation, you should pay my doctor’s fee.” Marian honestly told her how it works.
“I see.” Vanessa just nodded at her doctor’s response which made Marian study her carefully.
“I also like to advise you not to exhaust yourself when you go back to work. Take some few days to rest comfortably at your house before heading back to your work. Exercise, eat healthy, monitor your blood pressure, take vitamins, have plenty of rest.” Marian advised her which made Vanessa’s eyes widen a little.
“Wow, that’s a lot.” Vanessa just said with a slight nod.
“Well, overall, take care of yourself. Plus, I just want to make sure that your concussion won’t trigger anymore or make you hard to breath.” Marian said while smiling since Vanessa’s presence really calmed her.
“Okay, doctor Marian. I’ll take note of that. So, since my results are good, am I allowed to be discharged?” Vanessa finally asked what she was really itching to ask.
“Don’t you want to go?” Marian countered while smirking which made Vanessa pouted with a little amused smile formed at the corner of her lips.
“Oh c’mon, I loved to go.” Vanessa chuckled, which made Marian do the same.
“Then you are allowed. I’ll prepare your discharged paper and you can leave tomorrow before lunch.” Marian told her as her smile never left her lips. She felt like she could be really befriended with her and not just being her patient but maybe something more.
