Chapter Three: Unraveling the Rebel Part One — Secrets in the Shadows Ava had learned something important about Ridgewood University: it was impossible to predict anything. Classes, parties, even simple walks across campus carried the possibility of the unexpected. But the one constant, it seemed, was Liam Hayes. She tried to avoid him the next morning, focusing on her textbooks and notes in the library. Reckless. Angry.” He flinched, just a little, but he didn’t look away. “Maybe it’s easier than explaining.” Ava wanted to reach out, to touch him, to offer comfort, but she held back. “You don’t have to carry it alone,” she whispered. For a moment, the world around them vanished. And Ava realized she was already falling deeper — not just for the reckless boy she’d met on the quad, but for the broken soul beneath. ---
