Chapter 4

1129 Words
Kat’s POV Waking up in a strange room should have scared me but all I could smell was my mate and feel his arm wrapped around me.  I rolled over and looked at his sleeping face. Why did he have to be so handsome?  “See something you like sweetheart?” His gruff morning voice asked without opening his eyes.  I wanted to say yes but I couldn’t give him the satisfaction.  “Did we….umm have s*x?”  He opened his eyes and looked at me with a small smirk on his face.  “Oh my little tigress, if we had s*x you would not need to ask me if it happened.”  I was beyond embarrassed.  “How about a shower and breakfast?”    It was then I noticed I was in just his shirt and my thong.  “What happened to my clothes?”  “You took them off last night and tried to seduce me. But before you could, you got sick and your dress is now being washed.” He said, smiling at me.  “By who?”  “Housekeeping. Most money I’ve ever spent on getting a dress cleaned. Until then, I have one of my warriors in the gift shop buying you something to wear until your clothes are clean.”  “Thank you.” I said shyly. I couldn’t believe he was bothering to take care of me.  “Go get in the shower and by the time you are done your clothes will be here.” Getting in the shower, I was a little disappointed that we didn’t have s*x and now I was washing his smell off of me. What was wrong with me?  After my shower, I walked into the bedroom and folded on the bed was a pair of joggers and a shirt and hoodie. I put the clothes on and decided I would leave my thong for Brandon as a thank you.  Stepping out of the bedroom, I found Brandon drinking coffee with another cup sitting across from him.  “Do you want to go out and get breakfast or eat here?”  “Well, without a bra, I think we should eat here.”  He chuckled and picked up the phone and ordered room service.  “I’m going to jump in the shower. Are you OK?”  “Go Brandon, I’m a big girl.” He nodded and headed to the bathroom. Sipping my coffee, I realized he made it exactly how I liked it. How in the world did he know?  My wolf Tala was on edge. She was just as confused as I was when it came to Brandon. We wanted him but we were still hurt by him marking another.  “You look deep in thought.” Brandon said, snapping me back to reality.  “I was.”  “What were you thinking about?” He asked, sitting across from me.  “You.”  A knock at the door with our food stopped our conversation and I was happy about it. Had we kept going I would have said something I might have regretted later.  While eating, Brandon got me to play 20 questions. To be honest, I loved it and loved hearing about him. But what I loved even more was how he reacted to my answers.  “So you wanted to have a conversation with me?” I said, thinking back to our conversation last night before I took one too many shots.  “Yeah…. as you know, I call you weekly and I’ve sent numerous letters.”  “And gifts. Which I should tell you, I’ve never opened gifts or letters. They are in a box in my closet. I just couldn’t bring myself to open them.” I added.  “You would have read me begging you to call me.”  “Why?”  “When you rejected me…I was in so much pain. I almost felt like I was about to passout and then you walked away.”  “I’m so sorry.”  “No, don’t be sorry. It was all my fault. It’s part of the reason I am here. But the problem is, I never accepted your rejection. Our bond was never fully severed. Just broken.”  My head was a mess. He didn’t accept? Tala and I were certain he did, but the more I thought about it I realized I just wanted to run and get away from him at that moment. Why in the world was I happy about him not accepting the rejection?  “What did you mean by it’s part of the reason you are here?”  “I am looking for a witch that can help me to find out if a spell was used on me and my family.”  “Witches didn’t like helping other supernaturals unless you were willing to pay and most of the time the price was too high. You have to be careful.”  “I know I’ve found some, but I refuse to give them my soul or my first born. But there is a rumor of a light witch coven near here. I just need to find them.”  “You really think you were spelled?”  “I do…There are some things that just don’t make sense. My parents used to tell us kids that when we get a mate you cherish them. So for them to flip like a switch doesn’t make sense. I don’t remember really wanting Meredith.”  “Ok. But you marked her.”  “I know and I don’t really remember marking her. I don’t remember asking her to be my Luna, but when I think hard there is a memory, but it’s more of a dream. I don’t know how to explain it. But it’s not gaps in my memory, but more like I am watching the memories.” “Almost like missing time and implanted memories?”  “Yes exactly. Plus, since I could remember, I had been training to be the Alpha but my Dad was determined to have me wait till I was 30 to take over the pack. Then I mark Meredith and he hands over the pack. It just doesn’t make sense.”  “Yeah, who gives a 21-year-old an entire pack to run?”  “Exactly! And my father can’t remember why he agreed just as he did.”  “Have you told Bryan? He would help.” “No, I need to do this on my own. For both of us.”  “Can I help?”  “No, but thank you.” “I hope you get the answers you want.” “Do…do you still want me to accept the rejection?” He asked, looking worried.
