Brandon’s POV
I couldn’t believe I asked her if she would give me a second chance. I sat holding my breath. I needed her.
“I don’t know. I mean if you chose on your own to betray your own brother, I don’t know if I could ever really get over that.” She said and my world stopped.
“I understand.” I said, looking down.
“You are embarking on a dangerous path and I just….I need the truth. If you were spelled then I would like to give us a try.”
“But what if I wasn’t spelled?”
“Then we will figure it out.”
I jumped up and kissed her with everything I had in me. Deep in my heart I knew I could never betray Bryan. Bryan, Zack, and I had always been so close. The truth was I never really wanted to be Alpha. I always felt like I was better fit as a Beta or even a Delta, but being the oldest, I was told it was my duty.
When I realized I took my brother’s mate to ensure I was Alpha, it just didn’t make sense. However, since I have the memories of the events, they ruled out being spelled, but I needed to be sure. Something was so off with the memories.
“How did you get my sister to agree to allow me to stay with you?” She asked all of a sudden.
“I didn’t. You did.”
“What?”
“You called your sister and told her you were good and to go home.”
“Oh. Maybe you could take me home now?”
I didn’t want to but I could tell she was ready to go. I had dropped a lot of information on her and she needed time to process it.
At the start of the car ride she remained quiet, but about half way through she took over my radio. Watching her out of the corner of my eye dancing in her seat brought the biggest smile to my face.
“Hey, can you get off at this next exit?” She asked as we got closer to her territory.
“Yeah. Is everything OK?”
“Umm just turn right when you get off here.”
I followed her directions to a park that borders her pack territory.
“Thanks for the ride, but I will shift and run from here.”
“Why?” My anger was coming through.
“If you don’t want Bryan’s help, I have to run back. If I come back home after spending the night with you he will want to know what changed.”
“You don’t have to tell him.”
“I won’t lie to my Alpha.”
“Fine.”
I walked with her inside the woods and once we were in the cover of the trees I pulled her to me and kissed her again.
“Do you want me to have your dress sent to you?”
“Nah you keep it. I might need it.” She said with a wink.
She leaned up and kissed my neck before whispering. “I left my panties in the bathroom.”
I couldn’t help but blush just a bit at my naughty little mate.
“When I shift, can you put my purse in my mouth?”
“Of course.”
She turned her back to me and quickly shifted into her wolf. Her wolf was stunning. She was silver, not grey, but silver, and her eyes were a cobalt blue. Grey was going crazy and I was fighting him, shifting with her.
‘Let me be with mate.’ Grey said, pushing forward.
‘It’s not the right time.”
I couldn’t help myself and I ran my hand through Tala’s fur, causing her to purr. I wanted to stay in the moment but Tala hit my hand holding her purse with her head.
Unable to hesitate any longer, I put the purse in her mouth.
“I will make things right, Katrina. I don’t know how yet, but I will.” I said as I watched her sprint into the woods.
Kat’s POV
Staying the night with my mate was a mistake. I was beyond confused and so was Tala. I wanted to have my mate and to be with him forever. Getting to spend just a short time with Brandon, I understood why he was meant to be my mate.
The run home helped me clear my head a little, but not enough. Once back at the packhouse, I shifted back and grabbed a shirt and shorts we had stashed all over the yard.
Sneaking in through the kitchen, I sprinted up the stairs and let out a breath when I made it to my room without running into anybody. Wasting no time, I took a hot shower and wrapped a towel around myself and opened the door to my room.
“Who did you stay with last night?” Nadia asked, making herself comfortable on my bed.
