However, Kōgo was quite a bit bigger compared to the other child, he was almost 7 years old even though some of them were older than him so he still can survive all along the way as he is quite smart as well.
He follows those kids that are older than him run away from their town and finally reach the next town nearby. Luckily, this town isn't attacked by the empire's enemy, so it’s still safe there. As this town was quite useful for the empire, the government sent some army to protect it. Because the town was one of the trading markets. Many people from outside the empire, even some from other countries as well, will come here for trade. So, the empire doesn’t afford to lose that town. After reaching that town, Kōgo became a beggar with other kids in that town. One day, when he fell very sick and his companions no one cared about him. Then a man walks by and sees him lying down at the side of the street in very bad condition. The man felt sympathy for him so he took Kōgo home and took care of him. After recovery, Kōgo doesn’t want to live as he has no place to go as well. So he asked that man if he could stay with him. He will do anything that man wants him to do as long as he can survive so that man allows it. Since then, Kōgo has been living with that man. However, that man was not a trader or business man; eventually he was a wandering swordsman who disguised himself as an animal hunter. His name is “Chōbun (Zhào-Wén)”. From there, Kōgo started to learn how to survive in this harsh world. Chōbun adopted Kōgo as his foster child and also as a disciple by teaching him some sword skills so he can protect himself from any danger. Before that, Chōbun was a sect member who came from a big sect called “Unkensō / YúnJiàn-Zōng (CloudSword-Sect)”. However, one day his sect was eliminated by some evil parties. This sect was destroyed long before En-Koku. They came from different sects and joined together to go to Unkensō to eliminate them. Even Unkensō isn't involved with government matters, but since they were located at a mountain nearby En-Koku’s territory, they still can be said to be under En-Koku’s rule. The evil parties spread rumors that the sect was in cahoots with the evil sect by planning to take over the pugilistic world. So the sect must be eliminated before the disaster happens. Actually some people from the pugilistic world knew that was not the reason. The main reasons to eliminate have only two which is number one, the sect grew strong from time to time. If the other empires want to bring down En-Koku, it must not be easy as Unkensō might come to aid. No one can guarantee it. So to not let that happen, it's better to eliminate that sect first rather than let their nightmare become true. And the second reason it’s because Unkensō has kept one superpower scriptural book, they called it “Mugen-Keisho / Wúxiàn-Jīngshū (UnlimitedScriptures-Book)”. The legend said, whoever mastered the Mugen-Keisho, can rule the pugilist world and become the no.1 pugilist martial-art that no one can match because inside the Mugen-Keisho, not only contain powerful martial-arts, but also contain a powerful sword technique which they called it, “Mukeifūken-ryū / Wúxíngfēng-Jiànliú (Formless-WindSword-Style)”. Those evil parties were led by a man who actually once was a Unkensō disciple. His name is “Ryohyō (Lǚ-Bào)”. However, he was thrown away by the sect leader, “Seimei-Sōshu / Shèngming-Zōngzhǔ (HolyWise-SectLeader)” when he was found out tried to steal the book. He has broken the rule because only the sect leader can learn the book. After that, he was punished by the sect by expelling him away. Since then, he was so angry at the sect leader and wanted to take revenge. However, the more important thing is that he wanted to get that book. Once said, whoever owns the book and learns everything inside the book, their martial arts will become formidable and indestructible to stop which means it becomes the number one pugilist that no one can ever defeat. Of course, if they face all members and even their sect head, those evil people won’t stand a chance but they knew about it so they sneak and ambush from inside and attack from outside at the same time. From inside, they bribed the sect's other disciples by poisoning all the sect members including the sect leader so when they’re attacking them, they wouldn't have any energy to fight back. That’s why the Seimei-Sōshu and his sect members were defeated unexpectedly. Before the sect came to an end, the sect leader already sent away some of his disciples (including the book) and one of them is Chōbun. Chōbun was one of the sect head's direct disciples and also the favorite one because of his good nature attitude and talented skill. So he is the only person that his Shishō trusted.
