CHAPTER 3-THE PEACEFUL LIFE

846 Words
So the book is gone with him. Nobody knew, except himself and his Shishō. His Shishō made a copy of that book but the contents were not exactly the same as the original book. The first half of the book was exactly the same but the other half was modified a little to prevent if anyone gets this book, they won't learn the martial arts inside the book. It will lead them to learn it wrong and eventually lead to their death either. Since no one ever sees the book, they won’t know if that book is fake or not. Of course, at that time when his sect is in danger, he doesn’t want to go. Eventually he wanted to stay and fight those people. However, his Shishō doesn’t allow him. His Shishō told him someone from his sect must survive so one day they can re-build the sect. After laying low for a couple years, Chōbun stayed in the middle of a forest to stand down and also built many traps around the house and some inside the house as well. Since then, Chōbun started to become an animal hunter to survive and also to hinder those pugilists who had massacred his sects so they wouldn't find out his whereabouts. It's because the culprits who destroyed his sects came from different sects of the pugilistic world and even some of them were pugilist quite famous figures, so Chōbun doesn’t want to confront them directly. No matter what, he alone wouldn't be able to fight all of them. He started to look for his remaining comrades from the same sect that are still alive, so one day they can re-build the sect again together. After that, they will avenge their sect's dead comrades and Shishō. Meanwhile Chōbun is also trying to find those people's background and name who involved massacring his sect comrades as some of them are low figures in the pugilistic world. That’s why he chose to become an animal hunter so he can find an excuse to go to the nearest town for trading his hunted item while he can gather the information about those people and on the other side, he still can earn money to survive. Not only that, to become a normal hunter, those evil people won't be able to guess that once a member of an upright and justices big sect, now became a lowly person that stayed low among the commoners. With this, at least Chōbun can evade those people that are still looking for him and the book. However, those culprits are also not stupid as they already notice that some of the Unkensō disciples have run away when they raid the sect. So they are trying to hunt them one by one. At the age of 12, Kōgo has followed his Shishō to become a hunter, so Kōgo can quickly learn how to survive in this harsh world if one day Chōbun was not around anymore. Of course, at that time, Kōgo didn't know what his Shishō meant so he just followed the instructions. After all, Chōbun was the only person that cared for Kōgo when nobody does. If not for Chōbun, Kōgo would have already died on the street when he was still very young. After he was 16 years old, suddenly Kōgo was told by Chōbun to go travelling for more experiences. Certainly, that's not the main reason. Chōbun realized that those of his sect's enemies are looking for him now and they might be here soon. They also had killed one-by-one of his ex-sect comrades when Chōbun was looking for them. So he knew his time would come soon or later, that's why he had prepared for that day. To keep Kōgo alive, Chōbun lied to him to tell him to go. As it was so sudden, Kōgo doesn’t know what his Shishō meant and he is a little curious. But he still went until he already walked for half of the way of his journey, then suddenly his curiosity became even worse and even suspected something was not right. His intuition tells him so. He quickly turns back and goes home directly, and turns out he was right. Just arrived in front of the house, he found the house was wrecked and messy as somebody just here to annihilate it. So he quickly looked for his Shishō, Chōbun. When he stepped in the front yard, he saw Chōbun lying there without moving. Even previously, the house has been designed with some traps but still can’t kill all the killers. He not only found Chōbun but there are some other bodies there as well. It must be those killer accomplices, Kōgo thought. He was so shocked, sad and also hopeless at the same time to see Chōbun's condition. He called out to him a couple of times, and finally Chōbun opened his eyes a little. Chōbun was hurt so badly. He got internal bleeding as his internal organ has been damaged by the powerful martial arts sword skill.
