Editor’s Note
Editor’s Note Ehsan Ehsani Publisher and Managing Editor I was extremely delighted to find out in early February that two of the stories we published last year have made it to The Best American Mystery Stories 2018 edited by Louise Penny and Otto Penzler. Witnessing the success of Rob Hart (Takeout — Summer 2017) and Brian Silverman (Breadfruit — Fall 2017) plus the fact that now a broader community of readers have the opportunity to immerse themselves in some great fiction by these two authors is yet another reminder of why we are doing what we are doing. It is true that we are publishing Mystery Tribune because we enjoy reading new and provocative short fiction in mystery and noir genre. However, we also believe that talented authors such as Mr. Hart or Mr. Silverman deserve to have an elegant platform to bring their work to the attention of thoughtful critics from around the world. We also believe that mystery and noir is not limited to words but it can also flourish through other artistic mediums: To that end, from this issue we are venturing into crime and noir comics. Our conversations with legends such as Sean Philips and Rick Geary in this issue are both revealing and inspiring: If you have not followed their graphic novels, you should! At the minimum you will find joy in going through their latest works we discuss in these interviews. The Shamus award winning mystery writer Brendan Dubois, renowned British actor and author Hugh Fraser, and J. Todd Scott also have some stunning pieces in this issue which we are honored to publish. Winter 2018 marks the first anniversary of our print edition and I am looking forward to passing many more milestones with our sophisticated and supporting readers as well as our esteemed literary and artistic contributors.
