Fear

(O’Flynne P.O.V.) I sat alone in the dark in her room, the only light came from her favorite flower that was sitting on a table in front of me. As I sat there the words echoed in my mind: “SHE’S GONE!” How could I let this happen to her? I felt like I had failed her, I was lost without her, I am not sure when it happened but she was everything to me her smile her laugh, they all meant so much to me. I was almost in tears without her here, I could feel all the old ways coming back to the surface the anger the hatred, yet the thought of disappointing her kept me from losing all control and destroying the country side to find her. As the different groups that The Master sent out came back with no news, I could feel my hope slowly disappear. Then finally one group came back with news, someone had sent out a contract for capture of Marcus as well as Erik. Well this confirmed that they did have something to with her disappearance, yet I had to fight the feeling of despair, the last few days I had feelings that felt like they were not mine yet were, it was the strangest sensation. The contract was most confounding there was no information on who sent it, it was like the person did not want to be known, the town that this group came from did not know who had sent it. There was also the news that a group known as the Tenthrok took the contract and would bee here at the Castle in a few days. There was a possibility they knew who had sent out the contract that was one of out last hopes to find out where Kataya was, the last thing we had was Erik and Marcus they knew where she was, we just had to get them to tell us. A servant came just before sunset to inform me that The Master wanted to see me at sunset. I walked into The Master’s apartment, I was impressed but his houses set up, I had very little when it came to accommodations however it was home, for me at least. Now that Kataya was apart of my life I would have to improve the house, I knew that I would give anything to make sure she was happy. I found The Master in his office he was very focused on what he was doing, I was the first to speak: “My Lord you asked to see me?” “Yes, we now have conformation that it was Marcus and Erik that are responsible for Kataya’s disappearance because of the contract. However we do not know where she is, I know that we more than likely will not get either of them to break easily, however I have an idea that may get us information in a sort of backwards way. I want to interrogate Erik, I want you to be there, the whole point is to scare him s**t less. This will cause him to go to Marcus in some way then we will have the information we are looking for.” The Master said. “That sounds like it would work, I will be happy to help you in this endeavor My Lord. Have we heard anything about who sent the contract?” I said. “Good it will help you to let some anger out, I think. As far the contract there has been no news as to sent it. With not name or location to go off of. I am hoping that the Tenthrok may know more about this however that is a long shot at best. At the moment the best option we have is Marcus or Erik slipping up and us find out what they did.” He said. The Master let out a sigh of frustation, I could see that this situation was beyond annoying to him, it was for me as well. I spent so much time looking for her I find her just to have her taken from me, the thought of her smile, her laugh. I felt so lost for a moment that it made me dizzy, what was going on, I knew the affects that Mates could have on each other but this was almost to much to bare. “My Lord, I understand that we have other pressing matter’s, however may I ask a rather personal question?” I asked. “Of course, what would you like to know?” The Master replied. “I know some about Mates, however I was wonder if there was a transference of emotions between Mates?” I asked. The Master frowned slightly at the question he looked down at his desk and I could tell that he was thinking very carefully about hoe to answer me, he looked back up to me and spoke: “Yes, O’Flynne, emotional transfers are part of being a Mate there is not way that I know to stop that from happening, you will have to learn how to deal with it. I would also strongly advise you not to tell, or talk to anyone else about this. We will discuss this more in depth when we get Kataya back, at the moment we have more pressing matters to take care of.” I forced my mind back to the situation at hand, the betrayal of Marcus and Erik was beyond what I had ever seen in Humans before it was like they had no regard for those here in the slightest. We left The Master’s office and had Erik brought to a very bare room, we questioned him till almost dawn, he never gave anything way with words. Yet his body screamed that he knew what had happened to Kataya, he was exhausted he was panicked by what had just happened to him. The Master was pleased his plan was beginning now all we had to do was wait and see what became of it. Wait, time was against us yet we had no choice by to wait, Gods I hate this. In the next few day I noticed an odd quiet had fallen over the house, it was as if everything was holding its breathe. The Tenthrok had arrived they were Orc, and Half Orc, mercenary they were well equipped for anything I was pleased with this something told me that they would be useful to us. I knew this feeling well, this was the calm before the storm of a battle, I knew this I waited. My core knew that we would have a fight soon, I just hoped that we would know where Kataya was before both Erik and Marcus were dead. One evening the quietness was lifted, it was dinner a dart came quickly from the shadows the target, The Master. I was up and over to where the shot came from but there was no one. The Master caught the dart before it reached it mark, the smell of Erik lingered I knew it well,I looked at him and said in Vampiric: “It was Erik The Master replied in Vampiric: “Marcus cannot escape!” I nodded my acknowledgment and turned and left the room in a flash, as I left the room I heard The Master yell, it echoed through the Castle: “FIND ERIK!” I did not wait to see what happened, I knew that The Master would be able to handle Erik. I had to find the strength not to kill Marcus, he was the last person who knew where Kataya was. He was also more than likely going to be the only one left a live that knew where she was. He was my last hope I needed him alive for now, I hated that thought but it was all I had left was finding her. I found Marcus’ room with ease, I used my speed to get into his room without him seeing me. What I found was him packing, that little s**t knew this was going to happen, then I saw it the Vampire Hunter seal on one of his bags. That was the last piece of the puzzle, that explained everything, their ability to betray so easily, even there lack of care for the household. This explained so much of their behavior, even Erik’s dark hunger that I saw when I first arrived, this is what we have been looking for without even realizing it. I felt my anger rise, I could feel my hunger grow from the smell of his fear, I wanted him to be afraid, I gave in to this but only to scare him, I needed him alive. Marcus was on edge, he was searching his room for someone like he knew there was someone in the room with him. The smell of fear was sweet and delicious to me in a way I missed this, the feel of hunting, the feeling of being powerful. Yet it was not as satisfying as I remembered, then I remembered her face, and knew why. This was not my life anymore, this was a tool that I could learn to use to get information for people. I may not even do that, I was so confused I did not know what I was going to do with my life all I knew was that my life was not complete without her in it. I brought myself back to the present and noticed a writing board. It looked to be made of Morthien wood, it was well used which made it impossible to see if he had written any letters recently or to who. I was hiding in the shadows, I used the darkness of his room to my advantage. I got the writing board and got a firm grip on it stood behind him, I could see he was still trying to find me, with no success. I hit him of the back of the head he collapsed onto the floor. I looked around his room for something I could use to tie him up with and found a sash. The Master followed by the Representative came into Marcus’ room they both stood there with this look of surprise on their faces at what I had done, it was almost as if they had expected me to kill him or something. The Master even said something about what I had done, and that I would have been with in my rights to kill him for what he had done. The Mater pick Marcus up and took my to an interrogation room and he left him there locked in to wake up. I found out, through talking with the Representative that The Master had put a kill order out for Erik the whole house was looking for him including the Tenthrok. Once The Master was done with Marcus we decided to go the Parlor we needed to regroup and gather our own thoughts about everything that had just happened. I was the first to speak: “How was Erik able to get in and out with out any of us noticing?” I asked “There are secret passageways throughout the Castle, in all the years I have been here no one has ever found them before. Erik never seemed to be overly intelligent so I never thought that he would actually find them and know where they go, the passageways are a maze one wrong turn and you will end up lost. Gods how did I not see that they were Vampire Hunters!” The Master replied. “Well, they both seem to be able to play being rather dull well, I have seen their type before they are very good at getting close to Vampires. However they also tend to get full of themselves to the point of making a rather big mistake, I’d say that this is a rather big mistake, then they usually wend up dead or worse disowned by their order as failures.” The Representative added. “That is very true, I still should have seen it, I let them into my house, I trusted them how much a fool can I be. I will have to set precautions in place for the future, so that this is not repeated.” The Master said. The next day a messenger came, it was daylight he told the servants that he would wait to speak to The Master and no one else, that evening The Master as well as myself and the Representative came down for dinner, and were greeted by him, he presented a letter to The Master. The letter was from the Dragon of Larthen it read: “To the actual Master, First of all I would like to say my greetings to the actual master of the home, to which I apologies I have not been in contact with from the beginning. I understand there has been a few miscommunications while you were traveling and I would greatly like to clear up a few things. I feel like there is some business to attend to since, my newly bought slave has been so kind as to provide information about who I have been dealing with for the last few months. I understand that Kataya has been bought by two different masters and I would like to meet O’Flynne as to a discussion of ownership of her. Also I would like to speak with you about the dealings with your household as soon as everything is in order with O’Flynne. Mind you I do understand that this is your household and respect that greatly, however as I am sure you can imagine, the actions of Marcus are quite anger-some to me. This being said please take that the main note of this letter is that I would like to talk to O’Flynne in person as soon as he can get here and away from his affairs. The Dragon of Larthen.” The Dragon asked to see me, he also had Kataya for a moment I wanted to jump out of m y skin we had found her, wait but she was with a Dragon. Oh Moon Goddess please do not let her be Ambered, I swear if she has been harmed in anyway I will lose what little control I had left. Then the feelings of being lost as well as despair yet it was still in a way not mine. My own feelings of confusion came forward what was going on why was this happening, all of these emotions must have been visible for The Master spoke, his voice brought me back to the present. “O’Flynne I know this Dragon, his is a bit rough in his words at times. Considering what Marcus has done I would be upset if I were in his position. I can tell you that he treats his Fairies very well, and never Amber’s them, he feels that it is unusually cruel. She is alright I know she is, out of all the possibility's this was the one I hoped for.” The Master said. “I will be happy to go and set his mind at ease about the true nature of this situation, however it will take time to get things ready.” I said. I said this last part in the hopes that the messenger would tell us the time frame we were working with. “The Dragon is aware that what he asks for will take time to gather together, he has given from the time of my arrival the allotted time of one week to be before him. It is a three day journey there, My Lords.” The messenger said. “That is very much do able, I will have the Headmistress get provisions for the journey, I will start getting the paperwork together that the Dragon will want to see, everything should be ready by the night after next.” The Master said. The Master made sleeping arrangements for the messenger we then started getting things together. The Master went to his office to start getting the paperwork of Marcus’ betray as well as his termination paperwork. I went to my room to get my clothing packed, half way through I stopped and realized that I should pack her things as well, I went to her room and got her plant as well as the book I was reading to her. I found some clothes and packed them for her too, again the feelings of loneliness and fear hit me like a brick wall. I again was confused as to where these feelings were coming from it was not my own emotions about the situation, I stood there and thought a moment if I was Kataya I would be scared and lonely, she must be my mate if I can feel her emotions. In moving her stuff to my room I over heard the servants talking about how Erik had been caught by the Tenthrok and was killed by them, I smiled to myself, this was probably the best news out of this whole situation, Orc’s even Half Orc’s were known for their brutality in combat. It was comforting to know that he not only died but died horribly, for his crimes against Kataya and The Master. The Master came by later that evening it must have been close to dawn I could hear the household beginning to stir in the Castle, I was standing looking at my bags going over everything that I needed and had packed in my head, when The Master spoke: “How set are you on Marcus punishment?” “My Lord, what do you mean?” I said in a confused tone. “O’Flynne, Kataya is your property, as well as your mate, it is only fitting that you choose his punishment.” The Master said. “I see, My Lord, I do believe that he should have to face the same treatment that he made Kataya have to deal with. Whether he lives or not is not a really concern for me I want him to understand that what he did was unacceptable by any standard for any status. As long as that is accomplished I will be satisfied.” I said. “Good, I will see to it. Thank you for your honesty in this. If I may ask why are you taking the plant with you?” the master said. “It is Kataya favorite flower, Fairies heal better with plants around them, I wanted to make sure that she had something that she liked as well as a plant near her.” I said. The Master smiled gently, I could tell there was more to the question, but my mind was to occupied to think about it. Finally the day to leave was here, The Master gave me a small wooden box and said: “All the proof is here in this box. This is what the Dragon will want to see. Good Luck. Please consider returning here I would be willing to help you learn how to live a peaceful life.” “We will be returning here this is still her home in away, she needs to heal fully before we go to the High Order.” I said I could tell The Master was pleased with this answer. Three days later I was at the Dragons’ lair. The entire way I was filled with feelings of loss as well as fear and despair. I could not understand why she was still afraid if the Dragon took as good of care as everyone said, the only reason I could thing of was that I was not there to take care of her, the closer we got to the Dragon’s home the stronger the feelings got. I had to stay focused as we entered the Dragon’s home.
