Lost

(Kataya P.O.V.) I woke up, however I kept my eyes closed, the sounds around me were that on wheels on road. I was not in my room! As this realization came to me the memories of the events that occurred earlier that day came flooding back, the Representative of the High Order had come to the Castle, O’Flynne was nervous about dinner it was adorable. Wait, why did I have feelings for him? Then the dinner, I remember thinking it went well, I was exhausted after just a few hours so O’Flynne returned me to my room. Sometime later Erik the Quartermaster came to my room, he grabbed me I tried to fight him off, I was not strong enough. He took me away, somewhere along the line I passed out. The memories came so quickly that I had not put together that I was moving, I had come back to the present I then noticed that there was motion as if things were moving, like a wagon. One of my hand could feel the cushions that were under me, it was not like the cushions of a couch but that of a carriage. I decided to brave the unknown and open my eyes, I found I was really in a carriage, I was laying down on one of the seats I did not know if anyone else was in the carriage with me. I could see out one of the windows I could see stars, the light of the stars was beautiful it gave me enough light to see what was around me, I was covered in a blanket. A feeling of despair came over me, where was I going? As I began to look around the carriage I noticed a figure sitting on the other side of the carriage, the person spoke: “Your awake, good.” I snapped my eye to the lowest point I could, I wanted to cry, it was no one from The Master’s household, I did not know who this was, or what they would do to me. All I could do was try and be a good slave, and hope it was enough. I held my tears and replied: “Yes, My Lord.” This unknown person chuckled slightly, this action took my by surprise, was not the person here with me someone who Marcus had sold me too, he had to be a Lord if Marcus sold me to him. If he is not a Lord than who is he? These questions ran through my mind he then spoke: “I am not a Lord I am the Headmaster to the Dragon of Larthen. My name is William, or Will if you like.” “Headmaster William, I will do my best to serve.” I said. He then moved his arms, I flinched slightly, I hoped he did not see me flinch, he uncovered a small lantern that was over his head. I blinked several times to try and adjust to the new level of lighting, I still did not dare to look up at him as the fact that he was a servant of a Dragon, Oh Mother Nature please do not let the Dragon Amber me, please. I had heard stories of Amber the process was horrible, there sometimes can be found old deposits of Amber, a Dragon can heat them up to the point of melting. Then you stick a Fairy’s wings in the Amber quickly, in doing so the wings are Amber-ed they will fall off or the Fairy dies from the pain, either way the wings are what Dragons want not the Fairy they are attached to. Dragons who collect Fairy’s do this, Oh Mother Nature please protect me. William’s voice brought me back to what was happening around me, he said: “Please do not be afraid of me, I will not hurt you.” “Yes, Headmaster.” I replied. “William, please. You can look up if you like.” he said. This seemed odd to me, why would I be allowed to look up, it had to be a trap. I knew Dragons did not run things quite like others, but still this was not how things were done with slaves. There was only one way to figure this out that I could see whether this was a trap or not, and that was to look up. I calmed myself, as well as prepared to be hit for being disrespectful, what I saw surprised me I saw a young man sitting across from me he looked to be in his 20’ maybe early 30’s. I could see his long straight dark hair was pulled back, his eyes were very green as if I was looking into gems. He smiled gently and spoke: “There you are. Are you cold?” “No. I am fine. Thank you William.” I said. “Good. Please make yourself comfortable. I would like to ask a few questions if you are up to it.” William said. I decided that I should sit up, something told me this was important, I fought the exhustion that was creeping up on me, I then spoke: “What can I do for you?” “Well, I was under the impression you would be in better health. May I ask who did this to you?” William asked. “Headmaster Marcus, order me to be punished, Quartermaster Erik was allowed to do as he saw fit.” I answered. “What were you punished for?” He asked. “There was an accident, I putting away dishes that I had washed, and it slipped from the table and hit the floor. According to Marcus it was a sign of disrespect.” I answered. “I see. So Marcus is not the Master of the House?” William asked. “No, The Master was away on a trading trip in the Northern Highlands. He was unaware of what was going on while he was away.” I replied. “I see, your health seems to be returning, may I ask what happened to account for this?” William asked. “I do not know what caused The Master to return early by almost two months, I am glad however. Marcus had a visiting Lord who was looking to purchase one of us, the day he came to look was the day The Master returned. I do not know what his punishment was or if he has yet to face it. The Master had me brought up from the dungeon, where Marcus and Erik left me, while he started to make a purchase deal with the visiting Lord. I was give care day and night by different ones of the household. The Headmistress was beside herself because of my condition, although no one dared to stand up to Marcus without The Master’s presence.” I said. “I see, and did this visiting Lord actually purchase you?” he asked. “William….may I be blunt with you…” Before I could finish the sentence William spoke: “Please, honesty in any form is what I expect, it will also help this situation greatly, if I know as possible about what happened. If you can provide me with as much information that you know I will be able to talk to The Dragon and we will be able to sort this matter out.” He said His tone was not one of irritation but gentle and caring, I watched him eyes, they say the eyes are the window to the soul in this case that was true, his eyes showed he was confused by what Marcus had done, he was even concerned, I could only guess what he was concerned about. Whether it was the fact that Marcus had lied to The Dragon or the fact that Marcus had done something very illegal as well as involved so many people in his actions, I may be a salve but I understood the world better than most. I knew he wanted the truth, he wanted as much information to plead this before The Dragon. As these thoughts raced through my mind a longing to see O’Flynne, to hear his voice had formed strongly I felt empty without his presence. What was wrong with me? “Alright, this is what I know about the situation, The Master does not tolerate betrayal no matter the reasoning, even if Marcus is still alive he will more than likely be severally punished if not killed for his actions. If he made a deal to sell me it was not with The Masters approval or authorization, his treatment of the household is enough to send him to a traveling Marshal if not to a town for judgment. I can also tell you that The Master himself made a deal with the visiting Lord for my purchase.” I said. “Well, that is not surprising see as The Master is a Vampire. He more than likely has discovered that you are missing by now and this to his list of atrocity, will not bode well for Marcus or Erik. By chance was the visiting Lord a Vampire by the name of Aiden O’Flynne?” He asked My heart skipped a beat at the mention of his name, why on earth did he have such an affect on me? When did he become the center of my entire life? Why did I care so much? What was going on? “Yes, how did you know?” I asked without thinking. William looked at me for a long moment his eyes were such an intense green, he seemed to be looking straight through me, I then realized that he was much older than he appeared. My eyes had finally adjusted fully to the light and I could see the details of his face, his hair was very long and straight yet shiny as if stars themselves had fallen on his hair, his features were angled as if he were an Elf, or perhaps Half Elf. He seemed to be judging whether I spoke out of turn or if I really just asked with out thinking, he also could see there was more going on internally than I was saying. He finally spoke: “The Dragon of Larthen, has been watching his movements for some time, however as of late his actions have been rather different. It is most curious instead of wanton destruction he has been leaving places intact, his route of travel would suggest that he was looking for something or someone, this is very out of character for O’Flynne. He has destroied entire towns for one persons insult, this is unprecedented for him, there was a period of time where he was just gone, as if he did not exist The Dragon has been unable to figure out what happened during that time. What can you tell me about O’Flynne?” He asked. “I am sorry, I spoke with out thinking William it will not happen again. Since you know his reputation as well as have been watching him, I can tell you what I was told. Within the last year or so the High Order decided to get involved because of his action, I am not sure what he had done but I am guessing it was rather big to get the attention of the High Order. The High Order gave him a choice to have a full change of character done or die, he choose to change. Once that was done they sent him out to find a Fairy, all they told him was: “You’ll know” I do not know what that means exactly but he said that I was the one he was looking for. I do know he has spent sometime looking for what turned out to be me, just before I was taken there was a Representative from the High Order that came to the Castle to discuss somethings with O’Flynne as well as The Master. I can also tell you that he was always kind to me as well as those that came and went in my room, I even was able to talk to some of them without him being present and they said he was kind to the household. He was even generous to me in a way.” I said. “Thank you for the apology, however with me no that was not out of turn, now if that was in the presence of The Dragon yes that would have been out of turn and he would either have a word with you or send you to me. Since you will have the most dealings with me I will inform you that I prefer if those of the household feel comfortable to talk to me no matter their status. Visiting people, The Dragon the expectations are the normal actions of each members status, do you understand?” He said. “Yes.” I answered “As for O’Flynne actions that is most curious, the High Order does not normally get involved in the affairs of those who are doomed because of there own actions. Having a Representative in the area certainly does change things a bit. Hmm, I will have to bring this information to The Dragon perhaps he will know more on this topic. Since Marcus has been lying to a great many people I want to be sure that your name is Kataya, yes?” “Yes my name is Kataya.” I said. For a long moment there was silence, my mind kept thinking about O’Flynne, I wondered if he was upset by what had happened, then I began to wonder why was this happening, why did I have feelings for him? I was confused by what was going on, I felt lost, empty as if a piece of me was missing. I wanted to jump out of the carriage and run back to the Castle but I knew that I would never make it out of the carriage. I had forgotten William was watching me, I was not really looking anywhere in particular for I was deep in thought his voice brought me back to the present. “I will discuss this with the Dragon of Larthen. For now this is the situation, The Dragon owns you however since Marcus has done this without permission, there is a chance this is void. Until this is confirmed either by Marcus or The Master, you are his property. The Dragon does not Amber Fairies, he very rarely sales them, as well, however he treats his property well. Do you need anything in particular?” “Due to what Marcus and Erik have done to me I am still light sensitive, the highest amount of candles I have been able to have lite at one time was 20 and was only able to withstand that for a few hours before my eyes began to hurt. Sound sensitive has gone down however large crowds can still be a bit much for my ears to handle for long periods of time.” I reply. “Alright, I will make sure the household is aware. We will get to the bottom of this as fast as we can. Here, this basket has some food as well as drinks in it if you are hungry.” William said. As he finished speaking he set a basket down next to me, I involuntarily shrank back, I knew he was not going to hit me, but it was just something that happened I hoped he would not be angry. When I looked at him he gently smiled, and slowly moved to situate himself. As if he knew how to deal with my actions in a way that was calming, I admit it was calming to know that he was not going to hurt me for my actions. I opened the basket I was thirsty, I found fruits and veggies as well as some salted pork's and jerks, there was bread and cheese. I ate some and drank some water. After which I curled up, the next thing I knew I was asleep, I do not know how long I was asleep for, when I woke I found the carriage was darkened by curtains it must be day light outside, there were three lanterns lite in the carriage. William was still there he was looking over some paperwork, as I looked around I saw the basket was still next to me. William looked over and said: “Good morning Kataya.” “Good Morning William. May I?” I asked and pointed to the basket. “Of course, food is never taken away as punishment, there is always food, you do not need to ask to eat, I have already checked and refilled the water.” He replied. “Thank you.” I said. As I ate breakfast my mind again was filled with thought about O’Flynne, I felt so lonely and lost without him. Tears began to stream down my face I was confused with so many questions and had no answers. What was I going to do?
