The Master entered the dinning hall first and went to the head of the table. The very seat the Lord Marcus had been using for the last two months. When O’Flynne saw this he smiled to himself and took the seat he had been sitting in for the last two months for it was customary for guests to sit at the right hand of The Master of the house. That left the seat on The Master left hand for the head servant to sit, which Lord Marcus took.
Lord Marcus was uncomfortable it was clear to everyone, even the servants. They were smiling and laughing as they left the room. It seemed there were many who were amused by the fact that Lord Marcus was made uncomfortable with the situation.
The Master was the first to talk, however instead of speaking in the common tongue he spoke in a language that was known only to Vampires. This language was spoken so fast that humans as well as other could not hear it, let alone understand what was said. To those who lived in the household of a Vampire one could pick up on some sounds of the language, but it woulds sound like a garbled mess or a whisper of wind, at most. This was The Masters last test to make sure that his guest was truly a Vampire. He said:
“Lord O’Flynne, I have heard so much about you, yet you reputation is well, shall we say colorful, you however are different than one might think. One might say there’s been a change of heart.”
“Yes, My Lord, one might say that, I have had a ‘change’ of heart, yet it is not such a simple matter as a personal choice, yet a choice was made. A choice that has changed more than just a heart but a way of life.” Lord O’Flynne answered in Vampiric
This answer was more than The Master expected. It answered his questions with out him ever asking them not many could do that. He remembered the stories that O’Flynne was talented with words, and giving answer's that could both answer or confuse people. The Master looked at O’Flynne nodded and smiled to give an indication that he understood what he said to the fullest extent.
Lord Marcus was confused by the actions of both The Master as well as Lord O’Flynne, this made him even more nervous. Dinner had only begun and strange things were already happening “What else was in store for this dinner.” Lord Marcus thought.
Lord O’Flynne understood right away what The Master was asking about “The Time of Light,” as he had begun to refer to it. The Master was asking about his change of character, he wanted to know if the stories were true. He answered the best he could, he hoped it would have the answers The Master was looking for. When The Master nodded then smiled he knew that The Master had in fact understood what he was saying.
The servants brought the food, each was suitable for all in attendance. Lord Marcus was served Veal with potatoes, and fresh sweet green beans. They brought The Master as well as Lord O’Flynne fresh Blood for dinner. Lord Marcus began to eat without a word. He hoped that they would just forget that he was even in the same room as them.
“Marcus, my dear Headmaster, our guest mentioned something that I found to be very curious. Perhaps you could shed some light on the matter?” said the Master with a smile.
Marcus closed his eye almost as if in defeat, then looked up at The Master and spoke:
“Oh, My Lord, what can I help with?” Marcus said, in his most innocent tone he could.
“Yes, Lord O’Flynne here said, that there was confusion as to who is The Master of the house is I don’t suppose you know why?” asked The Master.
Lord O’Flynne paid close attention to what was said when he heard that Marcus was Headmaster he thought, “Marcus it the headmaster, so that is where he gets the idea of being master.” Lord O’Flynne then smiled just enough to show half of his fangs. He then took a drink of the blood provided as he did so his eyes darkened in hunger. This action added to Lord Marcus level of nervousness that sweat beads started to form on his forehead.
“My Lord, I am not sure how this confusion happened. I am sure that all correspond were done with the seal of My Lord.” he answered in the same innocent tone.
“My Lord that is true, however he always signed as Master Marcus. I brought the letters if you would like to inspect them,” O’Flynne spoke in Vampiric
Lord O’Flynne could tell from how The Master was handling this that there was much more than this matter that Marcus had done. O’Flynne also knew some of The Master he was merciful however his mercy had it’s limits he could not tell if Marcus had reach that limit or not. If he had to guess the list of things he was guilty of it would be mistreatment of servants, slaves and authority. “Oh, this will be interesting.” Thought O’Flynne. The Master turned to O’Flynne and replied in Vampiric:
“Yes, I would like to insect them. Do you mind if I read the contents of the letters as well? Lord Marcus, has been keeping secrets, and I would like to see what his plans were for your visit.”
“Of course, My Lord.” answered O’Flynne.
Once The Master said he wanted to see the letters O’Flynne to prove beyond a doubt that he was a Vampire by using his speed to give the letters to The Master. He stood up and hand him the letters and was back in his seat faster than the human eye could tract. All Lord Marcus saw was The Master did not have any papers in his hand then when he looked again there were papers in his hand but not just any papers but the very letters he had written to Lord O’Flynne. “Oh s**t,” thought Marcus. O’Flynne watched Lord Marcus and was amused by his attempt at keeping his composure.
The Master read the letter, his displeasure was seen as he saw that they were all signed Master Marcus. The topic of the letters also caught his attention, there was discussion of purchase of a single slave, most unusual most people want to buy several at a time not just one. Then there was a detail that surprised The Master, that Lord O’Flynne did not know what type of Fairy he wanted therefore asked for an audience to see the slaves in person before anything was finalized. The Master then spoke to O’Flynne in Vampiric:
“Have you seen the slaves?”
“Yes, I have” said O’Flynne.
“Good, did you find someone of interest?”
“Yes, I have. Kataya, shes being held in solitary confinement.” answered O’Flynne
“I see.”
The Master then turned to Lord Marcus. He looked at him for a long moment. Then he spoke in a hash tone as he did so his eyes darken with rage:
“So you have signed there letters as ‘Master Marcus’?”
“My Lord, a slip of the hand as well of the mind. The replies were written, and prepared at the end of the day. Please forgive my lapse, My Lord, I fully intended to write ‘ the servant Headmaster Marcus.’ please forgive this error, My Lord.” answered Marcus it was almost as if he was pleading for his life.
“This could have been forgiven. However this brings me to something that is disturbing, the slave that Lord O’Flynne wants to purchase is in solitary confinement. What is the reason for this?” spoke the Master.
“My Lord, as I explained to Lord O’Flynne. She had purposefully broke a dish. As well as great disrespect. To the point of solitary confinement” answered Lord Marcus
Lord O’Flynne narrowed his eyes at Lord Marcus, as he looked at him they flashed blood red then black, as he got his anger under control. They then returned to there normal purple gray color. He then turned to The Master and spoke in Vampiric:
“My Lord, this is not true. I spoke with Kataya there was someone who saw what happened named Slivaya. I spoke with her, Kataya did not break the dish on purpose. It was an accident. The Headmistress was presence while I asked about the incident. Kataya has also been in confinement long enough that she is sensitive to light as well as sound.”
“I see. Lord O’Flynne I am curious, why her?” the Master asked.
“It is hard to explain. I was given a choice between death or change. I choose change what happened after I do not know when I came to I was told to find someone, a Fairy. All I was told about this person was: ‘You will know.’ I believe that she is who I have been searching for.” answered O’Flynne.
“I see. You and I will talk term’s in a moment. First I must teach my servant a lesson.” said The Master.
“Lord Marcus.” The master spoke in the common tongue. “You are here by relieved of your duties as Headmaster. This is not the only grievance I have against you. You are also confined to you quarters. Until a full investigation of your actives have been done. Then full punishment will be decided and then enacted upon the findings. Guards, please escort Marcus to his room.”
“My Lord.” Marcus began to speak the master shot him a look with fully darkened eyes of rage. Marcus looked down and followed the guards.
