I DIG
“I.D.I.G” It’s been five days and I’m still wandering in the whole town. I can’t remember anything, my name, where I live and even my family. Not even the smallest details about myself. No one ever bothers to ask me who I am. Each time a person passes me, I asked all the possible questions I can imagine but they just ignore me and continue walking. No one knows me on that place. I slept anywhere the moment when Mr. Moon warned me that the night is coming. Each morning, I’m back with my daily routine asking people about my identity but they’re still doing the same thing every time I asked the same questions. I’m so jealous each time I see a family walking together heading to their favorite store. I see those people everyday spending happy moments with their love ones. Me? I’m lost and don’t know where I am heading for home knowing I can’t remember anything. I can’t even remember why I’m on that place where no one knows me. On the other note, every morning as I continue searching for my true identity, I’ve been noticing this girl every time I’m sitting on my favorite spot at the park, a bench facing a fountain full of flowers and butterflies. She’s beautiful but lonely. I saw the loneliness in her eyes every time I look at her. I’m just thinking, maybe she just have a little problem and I don’t really bother and hesitate to ask her and interfere. I can’t remember what exactly the date on that morning I woke up. But I’m sure it’s my 7th day on that place. I haven’t changed my clothes and even take a single bath. Again, there she is, walking towards the same direction. I followed her to find out where’s her destination. First, she stopped on a nearby garden and pick several flowers and smelled it before continue walking. I still followed her secretly not noticing me. Within 30 meters, she stops again and momentarily glances on that deep hillside. She smiled a bit and continuously follows the path. I’ve just noticed, the moment she came on that hillside, once again I saw the loneliness in her eyes. It’s not ordinary. It’s already 3p.m when she reached her final destination. That place is a cemetery. I was thinking, maybe this is the place where one of her love one’s was buried. There she is, standing beside a certain grave where she also sit and offered the flowers she’s holding. I stood beside her but still she ignored me and continues to utter a prayer. Suddenly, I heard her putting some words and sounds altogether. “How I wish you were here. It’s been seven days since you’re gone. I just want you to know that I’ll be spending my entire life going to this place for me to see you every day. Don’t worry, every day you will have a piece of me together with your favorite flower. I miss you already and I’m willing to follow you there wherever you are right now. I’m only asking one thing; please take good care of me, for me to be able to be with you every day. I miss your smile and everything about you. Please wait for me there and I’ll be there soon. “I’ve been busy and teary-eyed listening to her message and didn’t even notice the name written on that grave. I think it’s her boyfriend lying there. The moment I saw the name, printed on a small piece of a four-cornered stone, I was shocked causing each of my memory flashes back in front of my consciousness. Now I know everything, why no one bothers to answer my questions and repeatedly ignores me. Yes, I’m dead, I’m a ghost. I’ve been buried on that grave exactly seven days from the moment I’ve been to a car accident on that deep hillside. I didn’t survived the said car crash and pronounce dead on arrival at the hospital. The girl alongside with me right now is my girlfriend. Yes, I’m dead, I’m a ghost. I will be forever wandering finding my way back home, and finding the right place for me to rest. “Are you ready?” a voice from heaven came like a thunder to my ears. I know it’s HIM. I answered, “I’m not yet ready, please give me seven more minutes to bid goodbye and hug her tight. The voice replied, “Sure son, call my name when you’re ready.” Suddenly, a gentle kiss touches my cheek. “Wake up; it’s time for our breakfast.” When I opened my eyes, I saw here proving everything that it was just a dream. I hugged her tight and whisper, “Thank you.” ...Parkenstacker...
