The Forest
I knew my life was going to be miserable the moment I heard that my parents were gone. The news hit me so badly that I couldn't believe that the same people who we had just finished eating would be no more. I know the moon goddess has more pains in store for me
Alpha Wilson, my father's former beta, stood before me, his eyes blazing with a fierce inner light. "I, Alpha Wilson, hereby banish you from this pack!" he thundered, his voice echoing through the gathered crowd. "Get out of our pack and never return"
Tears streamed down my face as I shrugged, my voice barely above a whisper. "What have I done to be punished this way by my father's beta?" I asked, my heart heavy with sorrow.
Alpha Wilson cleared his throat, his expression unyielding. "You've done nothing wrong, Zara. But you're no longer welcome in this pack." He turned to the guards. "Take her outside the pack walls."
The guards closed in around me, their faces expressionless. Alpha Wilson's voice rose again, his words dripping with malice. "Let it be known that anyone who defies my order and helps or shelters Zara will be impaled. She is no longer one of us."
The crowd began to leave, their murmurs and whispers filling the air. A group of women glanced at me, their voices barely audible as they whispered to each other. "How heartless can he be? This poor child has just lost her parents, and now he's taken everything from her."
Fear cut me off as I realized I had never been outside the pack walls before. The forest lurked before me, its dark depths seeming to stretch on forever. I remembered stories Papa told me of the dangers that lurked within – wild animals, fierce predators, and unknown terrors.
"What have I done to deserve such punishment from someone my father called his beta?" I wondered, my heart heavy with sorrow.
The moment I stepped into the forest, the trees seemed to close in around me, casting deep, menacing shadows on the ground. I sighed, trying to calm myself down. "Oh, moon goddess, come to my aid," I whispered, my voice trembling with fear.
My heart continued racing fast as I heard strange sounds echoing behind me, tears continued to stream down my cheeks as the story Papa told continued to ring in my head.
I walked around the forest as I couldn't find my way out in the dark, my feet started to hurt as I saw an oak tree; I fought with my instincts as I finally made up my mind to rest on the tree before I continued my blind journey.
My heart skipped a beat as the rustling grew louder and closer. I tried telling myself it was just a rabbit or a squirrel, but deep down, I knew it was something far more sinister.
Suddenly, I saw a pair of glowing eyes object from the darkness, and my instincts took over. I turned and ran, my feet pounding against the earth as I ran through the forest. The eyes kept pace with me, always lurking just out of reach. I could feel a hot breath on the back of my neck, and my skin crawled with terror.
I ran until my lungs burned and my legs ached, but still, the creature pursued me. Just when I thought I couldn't run anymore, a figure burst from the trees ahead, grabbing my arm and yanking me to safety.
I stumbled, gasping for breath, as the figure spun me around to face him. For a moment, we just stared at each other, my eyes wide with fear, the stranger's eyes blazing with a fierce inner light.
The creature stopped as he glanced at my saviour suddenly he broke the silence and asked “Why interrupting my dinner stranger”
“This lady cannot be your dinner, you spirit of the forest, go find rabbits, squirrels and other small animals that live here.” He cleared his throat as he sent back these words to him
“Get ready to become my dinner,” the creature growled at my saviour with an angry tone; he jumped on my saviour's body using his claws to rip off his body.
My saviour transformed into a huge black werewolf, with golden brown eyes. I just couldn't get my eyes off him. “This guy must be an Alpha, but who cares? He saved my life.” I muttered
“Hey….?”
“Hey….?”
“Hey…?” he called while tapping my shoulder, jolting me out of my trance
“Huh, ehhhh….ahhhhh…..”
I finally answered, he had already knocked down the creature that was after my life.
“What are you doing here all alone in this dangerous forest, " he asked,” tears started streaming down my cheeks as I began to explain what transpired.
“After the demise of my parents, my uncle took over everything my parents owned and sent me out of the pack and warned me never to return; if not; I will be impaled.”
“That your uncle is heartless,” he said as he transformed back to his human self, and his face was filled with pity.
“Do you have anywhere to go or any relation outside your pack?” I continue to cry, ignoring his question.
“Alright, you can follow me to my pack,” immediately, a touch of a smile appeared on my face as I shouted in excitement, “Yes I will; I can't stay here any minute from now.”
Suddenly, he glanced at me as if he was just seeing me for the first time, “hey, Mr stranger,” I mumbled.
“Mr stranger…”? I called out why waving at him.
He muttered, and finally, he answered me, “You must never speak of what I am about to tell you if you follow me back to my pack.”
It must be a secret between the both of us. I was surprised to hear this from someone I just met like 5 minutes ago
We have never met before and I don't even know who you are, what are you even talking about Mr stranger, I replied a touch of curiosity in my voice
You are …….
