Chapter 6.

Alexander POV * * * * * * * * * * *  I made my way to the northern hall where my brother usually was.  I had lied to the princes earlier when I told her that Fredrick went to bed. He knows the dangers of what took place as well as I do. Never has the castle held a guest, let alone another vampire.  We have never allowed an outsider to step foot onto our lands if not planned. This was not planned, it was rushed and could endanger everything that this clan holds dearly. There are secrets that must not get out, secrets that many of our ancestors have lost their lives protecting.  As I made it to the northern balcony I saw my brother sitting on a bench, overlooking the astec lake. The lake was blue with a turquoise shine lighting up the lake, a light fog laid on the surface.  ”Did she settle alright?” Fredrick asked me as I neared him. I stood leaning over the railing.  ”She did.” I answered.  ”Which room did you choose for the princess?”  ”The one fit for true royalty.” I said and looked back at my brother. Fredrick looked at me with a smirk.  ”Which one of them?” He asked and I let out a chuckle.  ”The one she was meant to live in all along.” I stated. Fredrick nodded his head and took a sip from his glass of whiskey.  ”Good. Let's just hope the ghost of our sister isn't haunting it.” He said.  I took a seat on a chair next to the bench. My brother handed me a glass which I accepted, he then poured some whiskey and I lifted my glass before bringing it to my lips.  We sat there in silence, haunted by our separate memories. This story has only just begun, one we thought ended two hundred years ago. My mind went back to when the princess asked me about my portrait. Tomorrow she will understand the true meaning behind the paintings. What it takes to have your own hung on the wall.  Raven is going to learn many secrets in her stay here with us. I just hope that the secrets that come out, won't interfere with those that must stay buried.  We sat on the balcony all night until the sun started to rise. We did as we always do when the sun comes up, we leaned back, glad in hand, closed our eyes, and let the sun slowly rinse the shadow covering us.  The heat from the sun-warmed my feet, then my body, and last my face. A feeling not many vampires get to experience.  I looked down on my wristwatch and then up at the sun.  ”3.2.1…”  ”HAHAHA no watch out!”  ”Greyson stop! ”No! That's my toy!”  I chuckled for myself as I let the voices of the children light me up. Fredrick and I did this every morning when we were up, we sat and waited for the children to wake up. We noticed it was the same time every morning. Just when the sun had risen, they were ready to start the day. I looked over at my brother who nodded his head and so we got up and went to our separate chambers to get dressed and shower before starting the day.  Raven POV * * * * * * * * * ”Ugh…” I groaned as I rolled around on the bed, the sun had just rosed, why are people awake? I felt the heat of the sun on me as I flickered my eyes open.  ”Holy s**t,” I used my speed and ran to the corner of the room, shielding myself from the sunbeams. How can they not have protection on the windows? I slid down the wall and held my knees to my chest, watching the sunbeams light up the room, inch by inch. It was getting closer. I'm dead.  The door to my bedroom opened and a woman around my age entered. Covered by the sunlight.  She looked at me in shock before realizing something.  ”Oh sweetheart the sun won't hurt you. It’s okay, see?” She said as she went to stand by the window. How can this be?  I slowly extended my legs, letting the sunlight touch my toes. The second it hit I jerked it away, but there was no pain. I extended it some more whilst my hands were on the floor.  The sunlight covered my toes, then my ankles, and I didn't feel anything. Nothing besides the warmth I imagined the sun would bring.  I rose to my feet but didn't move away from my corner. The woman extended her hand. ”It’s okay, I promise.” She said with a comforting voice. I carefully reached out and grabbed her hand, letting her guide me. I moved my feet, one at a time, as carefully as I could feeling discomfort with every step I took.  I was now standing beside her, in front of the window and the sun was completely covering me.  ”Haha,” I couldn't help but the laugh of shock that left my lips.  ”How is this possible?” I asked her, I refused to open my eyes, the heat was unlike anything I had ever felt. It was so welcoming.  ”Why don't you get dressed and we’ll explain.” I turned around in shock to see Alexander and Fredrick standing at the door. They both looked dashing, they weren't as pale as normal vampires. That’s not too weird however seeing as they can soak in the sun.  I looked down at my clothes, realizing I was only in pj’s. I quickly grabbed clothes from my suitcase and locked myself in the bathroom. The woman outside giggled as she greeted the brothers and left the room.  I took a shower and got dressed before walking back out, only to find it empty.  They had all left.  I brushed through my hair quickly and went out of my room to go and find them. However, I was met by several people who were going places, older and younger people who were laughing and talking. It felt like being in the school halls.  I took a hold of a younger girl who was passing by and when she saw me her mouth dropped.  ”Oh my god you’re here!” She squealed, causing everyone else to stop and look at us. They all looked equally shocked as the girl whose arm I was holding.  ”Uhh I’m sorry, but do you know where Fredrick and his brother are?”  I asked the girl whilst trying not to look too uncomfortable with all eyes that were on us.  ”Right here, princes!” Alexander yelled from down the hall. I quickly let go of the girl's arm and through her an awkward smile before quickly walking away from the crowd.  When I reached the two brothers they both looked awfully amused.  ”What the hell was that!?” I whisper shouted.  ”Let’s have some breakfast shall we?” Fredrick said and gestured with his hand towards the grand hall. I puffed and walked in front of them to where the kitchen was. As we entered a few teenagers were just leaving.  ”This is not at all how I pictured your clan to be.” I said as I took a seat by one of the tables near the exit. Alexander went over to the fridge and took out some bacon and eggs and started cooking up an omelet. He then preceded to pour up to two glasses of blood, making me drool. I was hungrier than I thought.  He placed one glass in front of me and the other where he was going to sit. I through Fredrick a look, ”Aren't you going to eat?” I asked him.  ”I already had breakfast.” Fredrick answered with a wink. It took me a minute but then I realized.  ”All these people…” Fredrick nodded his head.  ”Well not all of them, but around 40%,” he said and my mouth once again dropped and a nauseating feeling grew in the pit of my stomach.  ”Oh don’t look at me like that princes. It may comfort you to know, that none of them have been coerced.” Fredrick said and I looked at him befuddled. I couldn't believe it, it couldn't be true. Fredrick leaned in closer, placing his elbow on the table. ”They are all here, of their free will. To be fed, too be f****d and to be a part of something greater than their miserable human lives could offer.” He said slowly, sending a chill down my spine.
