My alarm woke me up early the next morning. I was feeling exhausted, because I hadn’t slept well at all. After my dad left my room last night, I had a hard time falling asleep again. I couldn’t stop thinking about what happened earlier that evening. What if I lose control today at school… I mean, it’s one thing losing control around Nick, he’s our mate, so I knew my wolf wouldn’t hurt him. But I wasn’t completely sure she wouldn’t try hurting anyone else.
‘I just need to stay calm and as close to Nick as much as possible, so nothing bad could happen’ I thought to myself.
When I was ready, I went downstairs, ate some breakfast and not much later April arrived to take me to school. I must say, I was glad that my life was getting back to its normal way, or at least as ‘normal’ as it could be.
And luckily I only missed one day, since Monday and Tuesday we had the day off.
We arrived at school 5 minutes later at the same time Nick pulled up into the parking lot.
My wolf was going crazy at the sight of him on his motorbike.
“Hey babe.” He said while pulling me in for a small kiss.
His delicious scent entered my nostrils and my entire body was craving for more than a small kiss. I wanted to have him right here and now.
Ugh, stupid wolf thing.
“I’m sorry I left last night but I didn’t want to wake you. Did you sleep okay?” We started making our way to the door.
“I know, don’t worry about it. And yeah sure.” I lied but I knew he could tell by the way he was looking at me.
“Okay…” He didn’t try to push me into telling him what was wrong and I appreciated that.
“So my mom wants to throw a ball in your honor this weekend. She wants to introduce you to the rest of our pack.” His words made me feel lightheaded.
A ball? In my honor? I hated being the center of attention!
“Why in my honor?” I questioned him.
“Well, you are the future Luna…” He began before continuing, “The pack is dying to meet you and my mom loves throwing balls. It’s a typical werewolf thing.”
I just stared at him while I could feel anxiety creeping up on me.
This was all a bit much. I was still dealing with all these wolf things and powers and now they wanted me to act like their future Luna at this ball…
“If you don’t feel like it, I can tell her to postpone it.” He must’ve sensed my fear.
“No, I’m fine. I mean, it’s fine. But April and Dylan are coming as well.” I really needed my best friend there.
“Heck yeah, I love a fancy ball!” April spoke excitedly before we got inside.
We saw Dylan standing in the hallway, staring at the poster board.
“Hey dude, what’s up?” Nick asked him but he didn’t even turn his gaze towards us.
We all looked at each other in complete confusion.
“Hello, earth to Dylan.” Nick tried again while snapping his fingers.
“Have you guys seen this?” He finally responded while tearing a paper from the board.
He was holding up a missing person’s poster.
“Whoa, is that Haley?” April took the poster from Dylan’s hand and I could feel Nick getting tensed up.
“Yeah, it is.” He nodded.
“You all know her?” I asked curiously.
“She used to be a student here. She was in our class.” April informed me.
“Why did she leave?”
“Her parents decided to homeschool her. They are like crazy rich and they thought it would be best for her.” She continued.
“Guys, this is insane… The last time someone disappeared in our town was like 30 years ago and that guy wasn’t even really missing.” Nick revealed.
“I know! That’s why it’s so weird. It never happened before. How come now it suddenly does?” It seemed as though Dylan was insinuating something.
“What are you thinking?” I questioned him.
“I’m not sure… I just think it’s weird, especially with everything that has been going on.” Before he could get out another word, Nick annoyedly interrupted him.
“Come on, I’m sure it’s nothing. Maybe she just needed to get away from her crazy parents… She’ll probably reappear after a few days. Don’t draw any crazy conclusions.” Nick took the poster, pinched it back on the board and started walking away from us. I knew he was hiding something.
“What’s up with him?” April asked what we were all thinking.
“I have no idea…” I said before the bell rang.

~ Nick’s POV ~
Seeing that missing person's poster made me go crazy inside. Dylan said exactly what I was thinking. It was weird…
Nothing like this ever happened here and when it did, it was usually wolf related, so no humans would find out about it.
But Haley who’s gone missing, I just knew something was wrong… I could sense it.
I couldn’t shake the feeling that all of this had something to do with Jeremy. He was still out there, freely to do whatever he wanted, to come up with a plan, to prepare his revenge…
That’s why I had to get away from there, if not Amy would sense my concerns and I don’t want to bring this on her. Not yet at least. She was dealing with too much already.
So I pushed those thoughts as far away as possible and tried to act ‘normal’ in the meantime.
The day went by slowly. Amy and I had just one class together in the morning so everything was still going great. But now it was lunch time...
The four of us sat together and I had been able to avoid the topic until Amy asked about Haley.
“What was she like? That girl who’s missing.”
“Oh, she was great. She was always kind and helpful. She hated her parents for pulling her out of school though.” April responded to Amy's question.
“I think I would too… I can’t imagine school without you guys, that’s the only fun part about it.” Dylan chuckled, “And I wouldn’t want to have lunch with my mother or father every day.”
April and Amy laughed.
“Can we please talk about something else.” I tried my best not to sound frustrated.
The three of them stared at me in surprise.
“Uhm, yeah sure.” Amy said hesitantly.
“So Amy, what are you gonna wear to the ball?” April changed the topic.
“What ball?” Dylan questioned, sounding completely confused.
“Sorry dude, I totally forgot to tell you. My mom is throwing a ball in Amy’s honor. This way the pack can meet her.”
“Awesome, I’m in! I love wolf parties! They’re the best.” He had been coming to most of them ever since he found out about me being a wolf.
“Well, I don’t know if I have anything that fancy.” Amy confessed shyly.
“Oh this is great! Now we can go shopping together!” April shrieked a bit too excited making Amy chuckle.
“Uhm, okay sure.”
“What is it with girls and shopping?” I whispered to Dylan who was sitting next to me.
He shrugged his shoulders and mumbled an ‘Idunno’.
The bell rang and in no time we were standing in front of our classroom, ready to go in but Amy pulled me back for a moment.
“Nick, is something wrong? You’ve been acting weird since this morning.”
“No, off course not.” I said as convincingly as possible but by the way she was looking at me, she didn’t believe a word I was saying.
“Trust me babe, everything is perfectly fine.” I gave her a kiss before entering.

~ April’s POV ~
Ever since Nick saw the missing person’s poster, he had been trying to avoid the topic. He must have had the same hunch as me… Jeremy.
I knew that this couldn’t be just a coincidence.
But to be sure, I wasn’t going to tell anyone. At least not until I was completely certain.
The day went by and when I was dropping off Amy after school, I got a text from My Nana.
SOS meeting in 15 minutes!
Was it possible that she found out about it? But how?
15 minutes later the eight of us were gathered around the table, waiting for my Nana to take the word.
“Lewis and Jane went to check the warehouse and what they’ve found is utterly disturbing!” She tried to hide the distress in her voice but I knew her too well to notice.
Everyone stared at my Nana in expectation and she gave Lewis a sign to take the word.
“We found Alpha Jeremy’s parents. They’re dead...” He spoke hesitantly.
“Maybe it were the hunters.” I pointed out.
“Impossible. The marks on their body weren’t from any human arms, they were claw marks.” He responded.
“What are you implying?” Phil asked.
“We think he killed them. We think Jeremy killed his parents.”
