Amy’s dad and I were sitting in complete silence, waiting by her side. I was holding her hand in mine, hoping for any response whatsoever.
Suddenly a phone started ringing. Amy’s dad pulled out his and excused himself, “I’ve got to take this, I’ll be right back.”
I nodded at him before turning my gaze towards Amy again. She seemed so peaceful.
Seeing her like this made me think back to the night we spent together at her place. She fell asleep in my arms with her head on my chest. It was so perfect and I couldn’t wait to hold her like that again. I wanted, no, needed to feel her. Her soft touch, her sweet lips, her warm embrace, her...
I got pulled out of my thoughts by a soft squeeze. I looked down at our hands and saw her fingers moving slowly.
“Nick…” She spoke softly, her voice sounding dry.
“I’m here, I’m right here.” I responded as I could feel tears of happiness collect in my eyes and an ear to ear smile appear on my face.
“Nick, the…” She lifted her head trying to tell me something, but she was still weak.
I put my hand on her cheek and comforted her, “Hey, hey, hey, it’s okay. You’re gonna be fine.”
She dropped her head into her pillow and closed her eyes with a deep sigh. When she opened them again, she started searching the room, clearly looking for someone.
“Where’s... My... Dad?” She got out slowly.
“He just got a phone call, he’ll be right back.” I promised her, making a weak smile spread across her face before she started coughing.
‘Water’ I thought to myself. I got up and went to the table that was on the other side of her bed. I poured out a glass and slowly helped her drink a bit.
“Thank you.” Her voice was slowly getting its sound back.
She opened her mouth, ready to say something, but was interrupted.
“Work. They can’t even…” Amy’s dad started while entering the room looking at his phone, but when he saw that she was awake, he stopped.
“She’s awake, you’re awake. You’re awake!” He yelled and ran towards her.
He pulled her in for a tight hug, while grinning, making Amy let out a moan.
“Dad, You're hurting me.” She gasped.
He immediately let go, “Oh, I’m sorry sweetheart. I’m just so happy to see you up.”
“I’m happy to see you too.” She beamed.
“Let me go get the nurse, so they can take a look at you.” Her dad said after a moment of silence.
We both nodded in response.
“So, how are you feeling? Are you in any pain?” I asked her after he left.
“Okay I guess and no.” She responded without looking at me.
I could feel through the bond that she was mad at me.
“Amy… I’m sorry--” I started to apologize.
“How could you Nick? How could you do this to me?” She sounded disappointed.
“It was the only way to save you. I couldn’t bear the thought of losing you.” I confessed.
She sighed while rolling her eyes, “I know, I know. I just wish it could’ve been my own choice.”
“Yeah, I-I get that.” I was too ashamed to look at her.
“Look Amy, I know this isn’t what you wanted and it’s gonna be difficult and I’m really sorry for that, but we’ll get through this. Together. I promise.”
She didn’t react and the silence was killing me.
“I can feel her.” She said out of nowhere.
“Who?” I questioned.
“My wolf.” She began, “It’s like a quiet presence in the back of my head.”
I nodded, knowing exactly what she was talking about. The moment she woke up, my wolf started craving for hers.
“Yeah, you’ll never be alone again.” I chuckled.
That was a thing I liked, you always had someone there for you.
She smiled and stared in front of her for a second. I could feel she wanted to tell me something, but maybe she was looking for the right words.
“Nick,” She finally started before taking a deep breath, “Thank you.”
“I’m just glad that you’re okay. I don't know what I would do without you.” I confessed, “And like I said, we will get through this. I’m here for you, okay.”
“I love you.” I saw the tears collecting in her eyes.
“I love you too.” I whispered and kissed her on the forehead.

~ Amy’s POV ~
The moment I decided to go back, I could feel my wolf awakening inside of me before waking up myself. As I opened my eyes, I noticed Nick beside me, holding my hand in his. I wanted to tell him about the wolf, but the words got stuck in my throat. As I lowered my head and closed my eyes, I noticed that my dad was gone. I started looking around, but he wasn’t there. ‘Where did he go?’ I thought since he was here just a minute ago.
Nick told me he got a call and not long after, he entered the room, happier than I’ve ever seen him. It was so good to see him again. I knew how hard it had been for him, losing mom, I didn’t think he would’ve survived losing me too.
He went off to get a nurse, which gave me a moment alone with Nick. I was still feeling double about him changing me and I needed him to know that, but I couldn’t stay mad at him for a long time. One, because I could feel his guilt and two, because my wolf wouldn’t let me. I could feel her desire inside of me. The desire of kissing him and touching him. The desire of being held and love him forever.
She was a total sucker for him and she needed him and his wolf.
And so did I.
I now understood all his actions. The possessiveness, the avoiding, turning me. Heck, I would’ve done the same.
When I told him about her, you could see his face lit up. ‘His wolf must feel the same way’ I thought to myself.
It went silent for a moment and I started to think about what just happened with the Moon Goddess and her telling me about my fate. I started doubting about telling him. Maybe it wasn’t the best idea, maybe I should keep it to myself, maybe like this, they wouldn’t have these big expectations.
Or, maybe I should tell him. Ugh, why was this so hard to decide.
When I looked at him, I could feel he knew I was hiding something. So instead I thanked him for saving me.
Knowing he will be there for me, made me relax a bit, because I’m gonna need him now more than ever.
And when he told me he loved me too, I felt the tears running down.
Right at that moment, my dad entered the room with Nick’s mom. She must be acting as a nurse, so my dad wouldn’t get suspicious.
“Amy, we’re so glad to see you awake.” She said with a grin, while I wiped away my tears.
“What’s wrong darling? Are you in any pain?” My father asked worried.
“No dad, I’m fine.” I snuffled.
“Okay, I just need to do some tests.” Nick’s mom came closer and started preparing.
“So you’re feeling okay?” She questioned so only I could hear, while measuring my blood pressure.
“Yeah.” I nodded with a smile.
She performed some more tests before turning towards Nick and my dad.
“Everything seems perfect, but I do like to keep her here for one more night, just in case.”
Everybody smiled in response.
“That’s wonderful news!” My dad exclaimed, “Tomorrow you’re coming home with me.”
Tomorrow I would be going home and tomorrow I was going to tell my dad about seeing mom.
