Chapter 8: A New Amy (Nick’s POV)

1691 Words
We were almost done with the decorations when Amy’s dad got a call. He left the room to answer it. Through my wolf hearing I could hear him talking.  “Okay, I’ll be there soon.” He said before hanging up.  “Nick, I’m gonna go get Amy, can you guys finish up?”  “Yeah, sure. No problem!” I responded. I was so damn happy she was okay and coming home. “Great!” He exclaimed before disappearing into the kitchen to go tell April and Dylan. “I’ll be back in like 50 minutes.” He walked into the hallway again with his car keys in his hand. “We’ll be ready.” I smiled at him. He turned around, holding the doorknob in his hand.  “Thank you, Nick. I really appreciate everything you’re doing for my baby girl.” I could tell that he meant it.  5 minutes later Dylan walked towards me with a disappointed look on his face. “April told me to come help you instead… I guess I’m not good enough for her, in any way.” I could hear the sadness in his voice. “I guess the talk didn’t go that well huh?” I asked him, already knowing the answer. “Oh no, it went great! Yeah, we’re totally a thing now.” I knew him well enough to know that sarcasm was his way of coping with things. “What did she say?”  “She said we got carried away… Like in the heat of the moment, kind of bullshit...” He didn’t deserve this. Dylan was one of the kindest persons I knew and he deserved to be happy. “Hey, if she doesn’t see how amazing you are, it’s her loss. You shouldn’t feel bad, she should... She just let the awesomest guy of this town slip through her fingers!” I tried cheering him up, “She’s gonna regret it so hard when she realizes that. And believe me she will!”  “Thanks man.” He stared at me with gratitude. “Any time bro.”  When we were done, I got a message from Amy’s dad saying they were 5 minutes away.  I went to tell April, who was almost done as well. We heard the car and I felt so excited. I couldn’t wait to spend some time with her after everything. —————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— ~ Amy’s POV ~ “So Amy, are you hungry? We made you some blueberry pancakes.” April said excited. “Oh my god, yes!” I exclaimed. I decided to try and put my thoughts behind me and enjoy my party. We all walked to the kitchen and prepared the table so we could eat. April did a really great job on the pancakes. They definitely reminded me more of mom’s than when my dad tried to make them. “April, these are delicious.” I spoke between bites. “Yeah, the best I ever had.” Nick smiled before widening his eyes. “Please don’t tell my mom I just said that.”  “Ooh, thank you guys!” She answered gratefully.  “I guess they’re okay.” We all looked up at Dylan’s remark. He was acting differently than usual. I could sense the tension in the air.  April looked at him and you could see the pain in her eyes. Something was definitely wrong… What happened between them?  “So Amy, what would you like to do today?” Nick asked, trying to ignore what just happened. I knew he could sense it as well. I felt that he was uncomfortable. “How about a movie marathon?” I proposed, “I’ve been dying to see the ‘Harry Potter’ movies again.”  “Whatever you want babe.” Nick replied. I gave him a ‘thank you’ look and continued eating. When we finished all the pancakes, we prepared the living room for the marathon. We changed it into our private movie theater. We made some popcorn and got out all the potato chips that were in our closets.  Soon we were ready to start watching the first movie. It’d been a while but I really loved them. Apparently Nick hadn’t seen them before. He told us they don’t watch much tv at his place, but he really seemed to like them since he couldn’t stop asking me questions. I didn’t mind though. When we finished the third one, we were all getting a bit hungry, so we decided to order some pizza.  I needed to go get some money upstairs and I asked April to accompany me, so I could ask her what was going on between her and Dylan. He hadn’t said that much all day, which wasn’t normal and they both were acting strange. “So, do you want to tell me what’s going on with you and Dylan?”  At first she looked at me in surprise, but it soon changed to disappointment.  “Is it that obvious?” She questioned me in return. “Well.” I started slowly, “You guys have been acting all weird and I can feel a tension between you… So…”  “Ugh, I know. Ever since I talked to him this morning he hasn’t said a word.”  “Talked about what?”  “Okay, don’t freak out about what I’m going to tell you, but, I kissed Dylan the night of the attack.” She confessed. “You did what now?” I couldn’t believe this, “Then why is he acting like that? I thought he would be thrilled.” “Because… This morning, I told him it was because we got carried away.” She hesitantly spoke. “Oh… But why? I thought you said you liked him back.” I didn’t understand. “I know, I know. It’s just complicated, I can’t have a boyfriend right now.” She sounded desperate.  “Are you trying to convince me that you can’t have one? Or yourself?” I gave her a questioning glare. “Ugh, who am I kidding. I would love to date Dylan, but I just have so much on my plate, I wouldn’t even have time for him…” “So why don’t you just tell him that?” This could solve their problems. “I can’t… I-I just, I can’t.” She sighed, “I’m sorry, Amy. Today was supposed to be about you, not me and my problems.” I could feel there was something she wasn’t telling me. She was keeping a secret from me and I was determined to find out what it was sooner or later.  When we were walking down the stairs, I could hear the sound of a motorbike approaching in the distance.  “Pizza’s here!” I shouted excitedly.  “Wait, how do you know? The bell hasn’t even rung.” Dylan said, confused. “She’s right though.” Nick confirmed with a smile, “Look at you, putting your new skills already to a use.”  Hearing those words made me feel panicky again. I didn’t even know I was using them. What if I use the wrong ones at the wrong moment.  Nick walked towards me, noticing something was wrong, “Hey, you okay?” Getting snapped out of my dark thoughts, I replied, “Yeah, I’m fine. Just thinking about the next movie, that’s all.”  “You know you can talk to me, right?”  “I do and when I need to, I will.” I gave him a convincing smile. Before he could react, the doorbell rang. We took the pizzas and sat down again, ready to watch the fourth movie. It was getting dark outside when April got a text. She told us it was her mom, asking her to come home since tomorrow was a school night. She said her goodbyes and left. Dylan did the same a bit later, leaving me alone with Nick. “So, you want me to leave as well?” He asked me sarcastically. I gave him a broad smile, “My dad doesn’t come back in like another hour or so.”  His face lit up at those words and I took his hand and guided him towards my room.  We got inside and he closed the door behind him. We walked towards the bed and sat down on top of it. He put his hand on my cheek and started closing the distance between us before pressing his lips on mine.  The sparks were stronger than ever before, it felt like I was set on fire and I started losing control of my own body. I pushed him down onto his back and ripped his shirt. I could see the shocked look on Nick’s face when I did so. It was like something took over and I was pushed to the background, trapped in my own body. That’s when I realized… My wolf was in charge now and I didn’t know how to stop her.
